It's inoffensive, but pretty much adds nothing. Though if you can only see this movie on a big screen by getting reamed on the 3D, I say take the 3D. You have to see this movie on a big screen. If you have a good theatre, it's still plenty colourful.
For what it's worth, it is pretty easy to watch 3D movies in 2D. You just have to rotate one of the lenses 90 degrees (or buy glasses so made). That way, you get the big screen without the annoyance of depth.
