The small tent and the short length of this event seems to indicate that this event will be relatively light on content.

Well, perhaps.

I don't think Microsoft will particularly demo/showcase games as E3 is like 3 weeks later. Im expecting them to perhaps to show teasers for quite a few games and mention about E3 demos, which I would be content with.

I would anticipate next week being = launch titles announced.
E3 = Second wave announced/launch titles demo'd
Gamescom = Third wave/Fall 2014 first game(s) announced + other demos

Depends how much stuff they have really.

Well, we shall see. I think whichever dude you're referring to is wrong.

Wasn't a Gametrailers dude, sorry it was Adam Sessler.

Anyway, Microsoft (Aaron Greenberg) have already alluded they'll play the game similar to the early 360 days. There's no reason they won't try to appeal to everyone.

This thread is trying too hard, you will never top the PS Meeting thread, never.

The bar was set too high. The gifs and the hype for the first next gen reveal is what made that thread legendary.

You know they're getting desperate when they resort to trash-talking the venue

You must be crazy if you think calling a smaller building smaller than a larger building is trash talking. No one is insinuating anything other than the fact thats the venue is smaller.

It's well over 1 million now, but regardless.

It's the best selling JRPG exclusive on the HD Twins this generation. That isn't saying much, but it sold "enough" to moneyhat a sequel and expand their list of genres and appeal, as I stated before.

You can expect them to come out all guns blazing just like they did in the early 360 days. In fact, hasn't Aaron Greenberg alluded to as much?

Really? What evidence is there of this?

The best selling jrpg exclusive to a console it either MH tri or Demons Souls.

I wouldn't rely on Mistwalker btw. There output is pretty much dead for consoles for the past few years.

Perhaps you aren't doing it on purpose, but you are using your preference for what Sony presented as a measuring stick for what Microsoft will present.

Microsoft will do what MS will do, and if you already don't like it, before it's done, vis-à-vis the Sony conference, I think that says something about you, not the conference (yet at least).

Actually, I'm not even thinking about Sony's conference, although I might understand why you would think that. I honestly expected something bigger out of MS since they normally go big for stuff like this, if I'm not mistaking. It's their next gen console announcement and I thought they were going flashier, more so after Sony announced first and got into a good momentum.

Like I said, maybe when everything's set it will look great. Anyway, I will watch and enjoy either way.

Small venue = no Kinect demos.

Well, I expect there will be some video demos, that's pretty much all you can expect from this event. Actual gameplay demos will be at E3. Anyone expecting more is just setting themselves up for disappointment.

Similar does not mean the same. They'll learn from their mistakes. Twice in this generation they spent deep in Japan for exclusives (JRPGs at launch, and exclusives for Kinect more recently), both pushes were lackluster, and basically did nothing.

Again, I guess we'll see.

I would be SHOCKED if there is not a COD Nextbox gameplay demo

I don't think there will be. A short gameplay video with a full gameplay demo at E3. This is a reveal event. Their aim is to reveal the console, some features and a few gameplay videos, full gameplay demos are unlikely until E3.

Chartz
lol
has it only at 840k, but that's likely a number pulled out of their asses.

It's not too far fetched a speculation. It sold 350k in the US and 110k in Japan at full price in their first years (08 and 09), respectively. Around 300k in Europe as well. Most Lost Odyssey sales came from reduced prices, like how now you can get it for $10, so it's not unthinkable that it's hit 1 million or come very close 4-5 years on.

The best selling jrpg exclusive to a console it either MH tri or Demons Souls.

I'm referring to traditional JRPGs, many would contest that those count at all.

I wouldn't rely on Mistwalker btw. There output is pretty much dead for consoles for the past few years.

Who needs Mistwalker? Microsoft owns the IP, they can farm it out to Tri-Ace if they want.

You need to stop mentioning Japan, I'm not.

It's about selling the system to fans of all genres and cashing in on their pricey subscriptions. Even 1000 people buying Durango for LO2 would make a huge profit over 5 years, never mind tens of thousands. It makes sense and it's the path Adam Sessler (and I) think they will take.

I think using Phil Harrison would be a good idea, maybe. He's a better frontman than MS's regulars, but he evokes Sony for the core audience.

Apparently it does, I learn something new every day.

Here's what we've learned: Showing the actual console at a console reveal isn't important. The size of the tent at your console reveal, however, is very important. I didn't know these things before. But I know them now. I just hope for Microsoft's sake they dont make the faux pas of showing what the next Xbox looks like. They might not recover from it.
