Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | May 2013 | Lovecraftian Wasteland

for the us only or UK too?

Definitely won't be out in the US, but they're keeping their fingers crossed it will make the EU release date. It was supposed to be out of QA today. If that happened, it should be out tomorrow.

Top of the page! Buy everything!

-Guacamelee
-Nunnageddon
-Soul Sacrifice.

Was so tempted to purchase doa5+. The announcement of Ultimate has made me hold back.

You should be safe, I doubt theyll do a Vita version of Ultimate for a while..

unless you were just gonna get Ultimate on consoles. I know I'll play more DOA on Vita so that's were Ill pick up. Im starting to feel the same way about Dragon's Crown and FFX/X-2 HD

Yeah, it might be wise to wait if you want to make sure you get the best version. Though I don't know if they have any plans to release another vita version.

That said, the game is fantastic and plays great on the vita. It has tons of content and things to do. Don't forget to pick up DoA5 (whichever version) at some point.

Its not clear if they will obviously, but Tecmo has been surprisingly supportive of the Vita, maybe even one of its most supportive publishers. Im not if we will get this updated version, but it would atleast be nice if they added the characters to + as DLC

To all the people having problems with that garbage(or whatever it is) section in sine mora the solution is the same that works in similar situations: Always move your ship/character, even when you are supposed to be still or steady, never ever leave the analogue in the neutral position. It could seem unnatural or even more complicated but it works ;)

I know, I wasn't being literal. But you'd have to bust your balls so much that it would be really unenjoyable for a first time player.

yea that's exactly what's happening to me.
feels as if i'm missing out so much if i'm not following a guide
but if i'm following one, i get so frustrated

should just quit gaming altogether
rant post...

just watched Iron Man 3
felt much better

For games like Persona 4 I don't give any attention to efficiency or trophies and save it for subsequent runs.
Especially considering it has a NG+ where everything would be easier, I imagine.

Yeah, don't follow guides for P4 the first time you're playing, it would feel like a chore. The game is already HUGE without having to do everything.
Just try to max the social links you like the most (always go for the members of the party first since they get better at combat with social link ranks!).

ALRIGHT! Contacted Sony about the refer a friend 2 weeks ago... They finally responded, with 2 codes. Thanks Sony you just paid for Soul Sacrifice for me.

I guess they sent out codes on the 15th of last month. I thought it was posted in the old thread that there was an email address to email with the subject Refer-A-Friend if you didn't receive the credit. I emailed them when I saw that on the 25th and it took until today to get the credit and they sent me 2 codes instead of 1. Kinda happy about that.

About to email them right now, just put my PSN and email or explain that I signed up for the promo?

I explained that I signed up for the promo and never got the credit. then I gave the email address I used when signing up (happened to be the same email address as my PSN account) and then my psn ID. It took them over 2 weeks to get back to me, unlike some where it took a few days.

Rymdkapsel is pretty much style over substance, got the two monolith missions on my second try (the first try included the tutorial) and the 28 waves objective sounds plain boring. Doesn't look like playing it again would generate a different experience either. For a Euro that might be fine but five Euros are kinda overpriced considering what else you can get for that (and I'm not even counting extreme cases like Binding of Isaac).

I just hate that
maxing out a particular social link is required to get the supposed "true ending". Hate that. Oh well - there's always YouTube.
Other than that - I agree - don't lessen the experience in your very first run through - just enjoy it.

Thats exactly what I am doing right now is playing through as I would and making the choices for me. Once I finish it I will go back and do a max social link playthrough. I just want the story fresh the first time and not worrying about maxing everything out if I don't (which is killing my completionist side).

Also do you get anything meaningful for completing all Combo Chicken challenges in Guacamelee? I just can't do it. Thule Tree was lengthy but manageable (guess playing Bunny Must Die prepared me for that kind of gameplay)

You get life/stamina upgrades (and a trophy I think), it also counts towards completion percentage if you're going for 100%.

I struggled first time around as well. I just break it down into chunks - start with the first couple of moves until you have the timing down and then add each extra move one by one.

looks like a guilty gear/arcsystems style fighting game in terms of mechanics and 2d artwork

just never jumped out at me as being appealing, also dont have the affinity for the cast like i have developed with more mainstream fighters like DOA or Tekken or MK

only fighting game ive ever played like that is Persona 4 Arena and i like it only because of my love for the Persona 4 characters... gameplay wise not a huge fan of the fighting system

I'm conflicted between who was first or who clearly wanted it more, so I'll just email tag it. Quote for it!

It's the preorder code for 3 (junk) magics, 2 costumes, and the JPN voice pack.

Persona 4 is too good. Since I played that over Christmas break, nothing apart from Guacamelee has got me hooked on the Vita :(

I have Soul Sacrifice & Sly Cooper to play...but I kinda just want to play Persona again

I'm kinda torn on getting Soul Sacrifice but the uncertainty comes from worries about how much people are conflating SS and the Vita, being fans of SS because they are Vita fans, me wanting SS because I'd like something for my Vita, etc. The game's setting doesn't look entertaining to me and the combat seems pretty combo-y so it reminds me of the reasons why I didn't like God of War. So I guess the only reason I'm even considering it is because it's on the Vita.

play the demo. it's not like god of war there's no combos/combo system. the game is more focused on elemental weaknesses. give the game a shot. the stories and side stories are actually really interesting.

I mentioned this before in the demo thread, but before guacamelee and soul sacrifice(and the demo) I only used my vita occasionally. since they've released I've used my vita daily. I downloaded the demo just to make sure it was something I liked, and ended up playing it for 80 hours. I've since platinumed the full release and continue to play online with GAF. it's also the game that made me really appreciate vitas live area. seeing peoples high scores(players leaving comments asking for help on missions their friends scored high on), what levels they're playing, how many saves they have, how many sacrifices they have, and amount of hours played just get me amped to play some more.

i definitely did not understand guacamelee when i first got it. i played it for maybe 20 minutes and stopped. i needed a break from my grind in soul sacrifice a couple days ago, so i decided to give it another chance. i ended up playing for a couple hours. the game has so much style and controls very nicely. i was a bit confused at first because it wasn't immediately obvious what i should be doing, but somehow the game allowed me to find my way. i really do applaud the game design for that. maybe my experience was unique and others considered the game to handhold, but that's how it seemed to me. i definitely recommend it to others.

I guess you never played Metroid or any NDS Castlevania game? :D

glad to hear you came around to it. some of the platforming is pretty hair-pulling, but rewardingly so. and it doesn't feel cheap, just takes some quick reflexes and thinking! enjoy it.

i have never played a metroid or castlevania game :P they have always looked difficult to me.

yeah, i've already had a couple moments like that. luckily, i made it past those parts after a quick 5-10 tries (lol). at least falling into a pit doesn't throw you back too far.

The Soul Sacrifice demo is pretty long, it should give you a good feel for the game. I've found myself really enjoying Soul Sacrifice and I don't always enjoy these types of games.
Send me a PM, it might be your lucky day ;)
Sent! That would be awesome. I just solo'd a pair of Jack'O'Lanterns, I'm loving this game.

anyone have tips for cleaning the shoulder buttons?
I use the corner of a microfibre cloth or a cotton bud. You could try a little bit of alcohol (surgical spirits or equivalent if you've got it) for any stubborn marks.

I recommend using a regular piece of paper for digging out anything you get into the PS Button. Drove me nuts for a few minutes!
