Square Enix teasing their E3 booth

It's not a great accomplishment, though...

Well, I guess it depends on which is your favorite FF. What I read from import reviews and impressions claim that there's hasn't been a FF this good since X, XII. Some reviewers even call it the best in the series.

Just makes me even more sad we don't have it yet.

"We feel strongly about bringing this title to the fans in North America and Europe, so if an opportunity arises that can become a conclusive factor, we are prepared to go into consideration right away.”

PS3 remaster with Vita optionally. There's your opportunity Tabata.

"Any plans of making an HD version for console?

We did think about how fun it would be playing Type-0 on a HD television. In fact we did experiment with it, and it was definitely submersive. But unfortunately, there are no plan as of yet."

It's such an obvious choice that I don't know what would stop them.

Bzzt. FFXIV says hi.

On long terms ARR will be important, but there's no doubt that it'll never make to 2ml worldwide like LR will easily do in the same month.

LR is their biggest retail title of the year, that's why is set to release on the hottest season (fall) and not summer like that other title :P
And it'll be a very good game, so you don't have anything to complain while waiting for the next big FF happening in 2015.

I hope it releases on the same day as Pokemon.

As if Final Fantasy and Pokemon shares the same fans, lol.

I'll not buy PKM for example, but I'll be there dayone for LR :)

SCE policies I reckon. Supposedly disputes on retail vs. digital and something about needing more content which can easily be added.

I can't really prove that. I really don't get it.

They either need to tell Sony to STFU or make an HD version of another game as a pack in with Type-0. Crisis Core I guess?

Of what I was told or perhaps I should say I guess is that the game is 90% localized. A script is on the shelf but the main thing was some sort of strict policy regarding ports from PSP to Vita. And the thing I believe Sony was pushing for was $20 Digital Only approaches. For Square this was unacceptable as they tailored poorly that Type 0 is a mainline title(all FNC games are) and that they wanted it for physical retail.

Thus the neverending cycle and downward spiral continues.

However since this cannot be proven it is all hypothetical.

---------------

Many have said put it on PSN for both PSP and PS Vita users. Some have said go the console route. Others have said in serious tones or in joking banter have it for the 3DS. As of now nothing has been achieved other then a Ultimate Hits version last December.

If this is true then this is a huge fuck-up on Sony's side. Can't believe they would do something like that and willfully cripple their own platform.

Would you be sad if LR is now a backburner game in SE's eyes?

It is probably the only game they have that is a guaranteed success for them but that is only IF the game is actually good and it is marketed appropriately. XIV: RR looks and plays great but I can't imagine how much the game needs to make at this point to be profitable. They sell 300k and everyone stays past the free month and that could be a sweet 9 million (assuming $30 retail price) + 3.6 million dollars a month. I bet they need 800k users at once to really make an immediate profit though...

why was it canceled? it looked promising

It's been several years since The Last Remnant came out, and Square probably doesn't think it will be a profitable endeavor. The 360 version probably didn't sell all that well, and the awesome PC version probably sold even worse.

Doesn't help that Square had it at full price for about two years. (Fortunately, it's only ten bucks now. Definitely recommended for those looking for a modern original JRPG with some depth.)

The last game you will ever play

That's the problem. You've proven nothing. The first link you gave does NOT specifically say no Vita version! It says they'd like to release it here and are considering options. Nowhere does it say "scrapped Vita version". Sorry, someone had to call your bluff on it. The second link does indeed say they've been thinking of doing that game HD on a TV but still no concrete final decision yet,

The only reason you wouldn't want Square to release the game officially is so you can get your precious translation out. If Type 0 does get announced in any form in a few weeks at this show, you will kindly cease your translation project at that moment. If not knock yourself out. But if it gets announced officially-Vita, 3DS PS3 whatever then ceasing it is the right thing to do,

how does that say vita version cancelled though?

There was a Vita version planned or so Kagari once told me however I think "clean slate" implies much.

You could argue it hasn't been canceled but either way everyone is left in the dark.

If they wanted it on Vita it would be out by now.

We've already decided it doesn't matter if it gets announced or not for another platform. We are still going through with it. It is a learning experience. We are all for Square releasing Type 0. I'd buy it on anything.

And I've already clarified I have no real proof. As I said. I can only hazard a guess. Speculation if you will.

And technically a Vita version does exist in Japan. Heh heh heh.

Actually I would argue that LR is the one game in their line-up where one can really debate whether it'll be a success or not. That is unless you consider 1-1.5 million sales as success, though.

Last Remnant for
Vita

Final Fantasy Versus XIII for
iOS as interactive movie

Lightning's Legacy to be new franchise, all games will use the same engine, the same enemies and the same basic locations, each entry having a gimmick to make it seem like a new game. Lightning's Legacy is due in 2014 with Lighting's Legacy II due in 2015. The franchise promises 2-3 playable characters per entry, with at least 1 new character per game. They will pick a random character from the previous game to put on the cover of each sequel regardless of their importance in said game. Please be excited. For
all major platforms

I dunno. Some Deus Ex nonsense probably. Another rerelease. Why do you guys keep mentioning these series that no one has heard of? Final Fantasy? Chrono Trigger? What even are these?

I see the sales being really good in Japan and if marketed better than its predecessor, better here. The game will probably appeal far more to the 3 million + Assassin Creed / action fanbase than 13 and 13-2 did. In fact, not calling the game simply Final Fantasy XIII-3 will probably entice people who never played or cared about 13 and 13-2.

The key factor here is that the game has to actually play well and review well. SE knows they cannot half ass this game.

Kagari said don't expect much Eidos stuff though. I don't either because they barely revealed Murdered: Soul Suspects and Thief.

Personally I'm excited what they're going to be showing this E3 (revealed and unrevealed stuff). Heck their line-up for this year is pretty damn good compared to their previous years.
