EA Sports Engineer: Wii U is crap, < powerful than 360. No $ 3party. [Tweets Deleted]

GAF has an incredible talent of catching developers say stupid things on twitter. Although I don't think that this will end quite so climactically as the Adam Orth incident. He was a PR catastrophe for Microsoft were as this guys comments barely affect EA. Still, incredibly unprofessional.

Well Orth was a relatively new employee at MS that was causing controversy related to the next Xbox (whether or not he intended for that to be the case) while here we have a senior EA employee (14 years at the company) talking poorly about another company.

The only damage this could cause at all, is a strain on EA and Nintendo's relationship, but given that it already is pretty much nonexistent I don't see this guy getting in much trouble. (though his tweets will probably get taken down if this continues)

Edit: Speaking of the devil...

I hope the Reggie photoshop ends up on websites.

That picture made this the first Nintendoom thread where I'm laughing instead of punching a wall.

It does not matter whether or not you personally referred to someone as a fanboy - the word fanboy is a console warrior term and not indicative of adult discourse.

Again, if you want to engage in adult conversation, you need to do it as well - do not expect it to be reciprocated if you don't engage in it in the first place

The term fanboy has existed since long before it was used to deride video gamers on an internet forum. It doesn't in and off itself have a negative connotation unless it's used that way. I personally know many people who are "fanboys or girls" for various things and don't think it insulting.

I didn't insult anyone personally here by referring to them as fanboys.

Again, there is no "filtering" going on. I simply pointed out a correlation. If you are insulted by that then maybe you might be guilty of the behavior I noticed.

I'm sure there are many, many people on gaf with Nintendo avatars that don't come into threads that are clearly going to have an anti-nintendo bias and spew venom.

Some people have better things to do than defend a multi national, multi million dollar company that answers to shareholders.
I'm not -insulted-, this is a discussion forum and we're discussing. Do you want people to not discuss about that tweet on this thread about said tweet? And disagreeing with the EA guy means people don't have better things to do than defending Nintendo?

I've never understood why people delete tweets when they become a story, as if the story will instantly die with their removal. It just makes it worse.

Exactly. Sure, hearing garbage like this is annoying, but it's pretty much par for the course these days when there are so many vocal people in this industry with no sense of professionalism. If he wants to tell his buddies how much he hates the Wii U, or how Reggie farted in the elevator with him one time, that's fine. But to make a public spectacle out of it is classless and inappropriate for someone in his position.

I doubt he thought it would go where it did. This place is going to be smoldering rubble during E3.

Well that's that for his job. We'll see this body get thrown on the "Gaf gets people fired" pile I'm sure. Even though he did it to himself.

Well, obviously, it's out there so there's no going back on it completely. However, it does aid a bit in stopping momentum, obviously. At this point, you can only reference the tweets indirectly.

I don't care about the origin of the term, when the word "fanboy" is used in the context of an argument on a video game forum it is not being used in adult discourse

Then discuss. Don't take things so personal unless someone personally attacks you. There are a large amount of Ninty avatars in here defending nintendo. Am I right or wrong?

Not accusing you, but ironically that's exactly what some people are doing to EA right now. :)

And on the Avatars, what is this preconception that if you enjoy Nintendo games, then you ONLY enjoy Nintendo games? And even assuming you have a Nintendo-y avatar because you like Nintendo, you aren't then excluded from having an unbiased opinion.

Oh wow.
Umm... I think the ridicule he got was an appropriate punishment for Tilmen.

The ban was a bit too much.
But a permaban? I don't even --
Not the best idea to post that.

Regardless, dude was obviously never going to live that down, it was a mercy banning.
