Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | May 2013 | Lovecraftian Wasteland

To be honest, I'm surprised Rockstar hasn't touched Vita at all so far. Vita and iOS share so much of the same hardware that porting between them should be a piece of cake, so why haven't we gotten GTA3 Anniversary Edition, GTA:VC, and Max Payne on PSN?

Not to mention all those iOS games that are utterly useless without buttons like Soul Calibur (it's a dream to look at on iPhone with its high-res graphics and 60fps, but impossible to enjoy with virtual buttons), MvC2, Sonic 4, Dead Space, Rayman 2, etc.

Games like these would be perfect for the types of new release lulls Vita seems to experience every other month, and would require minimal investment other than testing and programming in button support. Easy money for zero effort.

Because they just made a bunch of money off people with their PSP games a few weeks back. They were the best selling games of the month.

I suppose you're right. It'd be hard to sell most Vita gamers on $10+ ports of $1-$5 iOS games. But surely there's a small yet viable cohort (me included) that would pay any price, no matter how extortionate, for portable Vice City and Soul Calibur with buttons.

Reason #128731 I'm not a businessman.

God, Hot Shots Golf can be a bit of a grind in terms of loyalty.

huh, people finally agreeing with me over that horrible 2 mins and never touch again "game"

Better late than never I guess.

I don't think they're agreeing with your opinions of the game.
They're saying that something fucked up the loading so now the game takes forever to load, and hence it's not worth it as it currently is. I'm pretty sure if the load times weren't an issue, they'd probably not have chimed in.

What? The game recently has taken several minutes to load up. Nobody knows why. This has nothing to do with the quality of the game.

Exactly.

I'm downloading the Full Frontal Assault Demo. I might be buying it so I can get the Vita Version for free, the PS3 game alone looks worth it for $20 + you get Deadlocked HD so win win.

And anybody know if that Bigfoot whatever super cute game was released on US PSN? I cant seem to find it.

Downloaded Knytt Underground for the free PSN+ game and didn't like it at all. Is there another good platformer on the Vita? Little Big Planet doesn't count as I don't like that either.

People say that game doesn't get started until chapter 3, the first levels are tutorial-level stuff and kind of boring.

Anyway, I'd recommend Rayman Origins, Tales From Space: Mutant Blobs Attack and Guacamelee. All three are great games.

Knytt Underground is definitely not a platformer. Good 2D ones include Sound Shapes, Rayman Origins, and Mutant Blobs Attack. Guacamelee has some VERY solid platforming as well, although it's technically a Metroidvania.

Finally my finals are over and I can get back to gaming!

So today I was pretty bored and since my plus sub has expired, I decided to give COD declassified another try. After about 5 minutes in I shut it off. I can't find a sensitivity level that doesn't make me feel sea sick. I've never had a problem with any other FPSs but I've only really played KZ3, BFBC2, and BF1942 - although I'm over 100+ hours in those. Hopefully its the fact that the game is terrible and not that I just can't stomach an FPS on the Vita.

In other news I finally had time to play the Soul Sacrifice demo and I'M HOOKED. I didn't quite see all the hype from the trailers but after playing some of the chapters I really am enjoying it. Once I have a chance to renew my PS+ subscription, it will be the next Vita game I buy. I think I'll go physical with this game because my 16GB is full.

I don't get the hate for Knytt Underground. I also didn't find the beginning boring at all (it seems to be clearly setting up something, if the M rating didn't also foreshadow that). That being said, different strokes for different folks I guess.

How is it not a platformer though? It has jumping on platforms as a main mechanic. Or is it one of those "adventure platformers" or whatever?

It's a metroidvania. It has platforming elements, but the goal is to gain different abilities and access new areas in a non-linear world with backtracking. I don't think it's that bad, BTW; it's just not a platformer.

It's rated M? Never noticed that. How long is it?

Cross posting from Siliconera interview

What do you think about PlayStation Vita?

TT: For Vita, we’re still trying to improve our work with it. We don’t have much experience with the GPU yet. Maybe within one more year we can tune up our processes with it.

I remember you said you were going to take a break from developing games after 3D Dot Game Heroes, but then I saw Bravely Default with Silicon Studio’s logo on it. That was a surprise. Are you developing any more games?

TT: Yes, but I can’t tell you what those are. We have one 3DS title, a PS3 title and a Vita title is also coming.

Lets hope its a decent RPG.

Am I the only one who didn't like Rymdkapsel?

I still want QForce, the Vita's library isn't so big that games can just get overlooked.

Since a local retailer did a 3-for-2 sale and Lego City Undercover was out of stock (a Wii U game sold out???) I now have a retail copy of Soul Sacrifice (and Persona 4 of course).

Hm, the only other retail game I might play is more LBPV, how complicated is it to get good user content for that? I've beaten the main game but since I don't have internet on the commute I've never looked at the online system.

If you have space on your memory card, you can save the online levels you want for offline play in LBPV.

I didn't find it interesting and the controls weren't that great imo but like you said my tastes are different from yours. I would never buy it and for free it was worth a try.

Haven't got it yet myself, how come you didn't like it?

Does anyone know if Rockstar actually dropped their vita projects before? Perhaps it's just taking time. Red Dead Redemption:Stories would be decent this year.

Was this fake? Mentions Red Dead Record 1847

XD

Faker than Beyonce's pregnancy(ies?)

I don't know the timing of when it came out, but are we sure? It seems like pretty solid and quite random guesses otherwise. We heard about Dungeon Defenders getting cancelled or something? Carmageddon seems like such an old title as well and now it's due on PS4 I think? Maybe some more will make it through :P

well there is one obvious mistake on the list, True Crime Honk Kong(Sleeping Dogs) with SE.

Activision only sold the project and not True Crime IP trademark/copyright to SE, so SE will never list True Crime because they cant since they own SD not TC.

The list is fake. Very, very fake. There never were Rockstar games coming. Nothing from 2k has come out yet.

I remember Takao saying there were Rockstar games originally planned for development?

They only decided on the name later though, could have been a placeholder...

Any idea when the list first came about?

It is seeming more fake though :/

I miss Gravity Rush. There were so many unanswered questions left at the end of the story.
It's been too long since I've heard news about the return of the queen.
Our poor lost queen...

Game didn't sold well, let it go.

and Toyama need to return to the horror genre anyway.

Yep. If Killzone manages native res, then I would be pretty bummed if GR2 remains sub-native. Wouldn't stop the game from being enjoyable though (hopefully).
In motion, the game isn't ugly at all, but REAL screenshots look terrible D:

Edit: Oh, it didn't sell well?? :(((((( That sucks. Hoefully it's getting plenty of downloads through PS+ to at least show that people are interested in it.

Edit2: You know what, the itch is getting to me - I'm booting up this game again!

The more I play of Velocity Ultra the more I enjoy it. It had a sort of slow start, but it's really starting to pick up the pace now and I'm really enjoying it. The sort of puzzle-y and exploration aspects of it are super fun and the solid and tight controls really makes it all feel so seamless. The graphics are also nice, I think.

I agree, however I seem to remember that he confirmed working on the sequel himself on twitter. It was a bit of time ago though, so nothing really certain I guess. Still, I'd be okay with anything from Toyama, either GR2 or another horror game.

He twitted that "he would do his best on the sequel" after winning the TGS game of the year award, but refused to elaborate. It was around late september 2012, so it's not surprising to have no news right now, I guess it takes time to develop a game with the poduction value of GR.

Cool, not that long ago then. Fingers crossed!

So Mario Nintendo might even take that video down!

Hopefully not before I get a chance to download them, looks great. He's got other levels made too.

Last remake I tried was horrible in comparison.

-okay just tried it, it's not amazing haha, but not bad. Time for velocity ultra..hopefully I don't have to tp to the far left side of the screen..
