Wii U Satisfaction Thread

Nintendo really needs to add a display sleep option for the Gamepad after a set amount of time of inactivity. It would also be nice if you could play with the Gamepad on TV with the display off for stuff like VC games.

I would probably buy a range extender device if they made one too.

I dont know why, but i saw external hard drives without a dedicated power source and with regular cable working on wii - while others sharing the same configuration just didnt work.

I really hate this "dedicated power source" or Y cable situation. Ive already ran out of power outlets and i hate the idea of using two USB ports on my wiiU

(im waiting for the WIIU ANTENNA, a product that exists only in my head, which will double or even triple the gamepad connection radius - needs a free usb port)

It'd be nice if there were a software option to allow the GamePad to degrade gracefully instead of going from "I'm totally fine!" to "I am putting up a black 'signal lost' screen because I was just moved six inches away from the totally fine zone". It would have been trivial to, for instance, lower the frame rate or make the compression more lossy if you go too far out. I can survive with a little bit of ugliness as a tradeoff when I want to venture two floors down (where, as things stand, the pad works in at least one area, which is pretty impressive).

The interesting thing is that I have a lot of walls with metal in.

edit: For what it's worth, lower framerate is also something I would take as a tradeoff for four-pad multiplayer. I got used to split-screen gaming in the N64 era, where everybody starts moving through a sea of liquid space whenever more than two join in. I'm fine with four 15fps portable screens instead of one 60fps screen in this particular eventuality.

DX

Hm not sure I will check.

Okay, it looks like all of my downloads have been defaulting to the external drive. That actually explains why the system hangs for about 5-10 seconds when I select a game.

Moved them all back.

I wonder why it downloads there...I have around 16GB left on my Wii U.

I'm hoping for a four swords style 3DS + Wii U multiplayer. Then you wouldn't have any slowdown.

How does that work exactly? Can you do it without buying multiple copies of the game?
The 3DS can do download play which means it can download the data it needs to play the game without you needing to own the cartridge. All the NES two player VC games support it and some eShop games do as well, so only one person needs to own the game for two people to be able to play it. I'm assuming the same thing could be done with the Wii U.

Am I missing anything else? From what I have seen, I have no interest in Zombie U, Lego City or Nintendoland.

3D Mario
Bayonetta 2
FE x SMT
Mario Kart
Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate
New Super Mario Bros. U
New Super Luigi U
Next Zelda
Pikmin 3
Sonic: Lost World
The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD
Wonderful 101
X

List is pitifully small compared to my PS3 and 360.

Worth noting all of those are exclusive except MonHun (and technically Sonic).

And I'd take half that list over 99% percent of the games on the PS3 and 360.

Seven years old consoles have more games than 6 months old consoles...

shocking.

Edit: and you beat me to it :P too bad you are not into Zombi U it has been my favorite game so far. Maybe Trine 2 would be also of your interest.

It came in yesterday!

So far I have NSMBU, Zombie U and NintendoLand, and I plan on getting Super Mario World (if I can get the damn system to accept my credit card)

I've enjoyed it so far, but the best has yet to come (Smash bros...)

I wanna dive into Runner 2. Worth it?

I enjoyed Runner 1. I really like the Miiverse too. The Miiverse makes buying new games much more inviting, mainly because there are other people playing the same game you're playing.

Download Super Metroid for 30 cents.

+1

I played Super Metroid for a while yesterday. I have tried it before with emulator on PC, but didn't really spend any time with it back then, so this is the first time I'm really playing a 2D Metroid. The game is still really good, I was really surprised how modern the gameplay mechanics were. It was like 2D version of Metroid Prime really, plenty of savepoints, and ways to keep your energy and missile supply high. And the difficulty curve seems well balanced. What surprised me was how quickly I got the morph ball and bombs, so I guess the game is not going to be very long...

It hasnt been out a year, the 360 and ps3 list from one year in wouldnt look much better, infact the ps3 would look alot worse.

I forgot I still had to finish New Super Mario Bros U, so yesterday I booted the game and played though the last levels and beated it...

People can complain as much as they want about the NSMB series, but I always have a great great time with those games. NSMBW was one of my favourite games last gen, mostly because of the ridiculous amount of hours I spent playing it with my brother. Even though I can understand why some people complain (assets, music and stuff), I still think the game is genuinely fun, and NSMBU specifically is a very good challenge as well.

So yeah, The boss battle was better than I was expecting. Nothing ground breaking, but fun, although it could use some more variety...

Now I can't wait to put my hands on New Super Luigi U... :D

Is there already more info on either X or SMTxFE? Because man, IO can; t wait for those games, but it seems the wait is going to be pretty long :(

Floaty Physics: The Game

My problem with Trine 2. I tried multiple times to like this game, but I just can't. It is gorgeous, and the mechanics are interesting, but... It just doesn’t resonate well with me... :(

Maybe E3. But yes, it looks like it will take a while until it is out... They didn't show any footage, it doesn't even have a title...

Exactly the reason I'm afraid the wait is going to be loooong!

Nope. Wait until the E3 Nintendo Direct(s)!

Guess I have to :(
But Nintendo on E3 this year is going to be interesting... I seriouslt can't wait. The format of Nintendo Direct appeals to me more than a huge E3 press conference. Those conferences felt like a waste of time to me the last few years.

Bingo. That's exactly why they're doing it.

Getting more satisfied coming close to E3 with a much better first party output from Nintendo. Dat moneyhat to Sega for Sonic and official launch date is a start.

I'm a hypocrite, GAF. Not only did I purchase Super Metroid, but I jumped on the Mario World/Super Mario Bros. 2 deal. I've been adamant about speaking my wallet where the VC is concerned, but I'm weak to these rose-tinted glasses.

I bought Super Metroid and I doubt I'll even play it.

I did exactly the same thing. When I bought it I even thought I would regret it but no.

I am really enjoying my Wii U right now playing old (SMW, Super Metroid) and new (Tekken, Zombi U, NSMB U, Monster Hunter a little bit), together with some Wii games that I want to give more of my time.

Yup, fantastic game. One of my favorites on the system, actually.

What retail/eshop titles do you have?

I have NSMBU, everything else on the Wii U Shelves I have zero interest in, the exception was Rayman legends but we know that story

There are a few games coming out this year I'm interested in though, I will DL the Luigi U expansion

still doesn't change the fact my Wii U hasn't been turned on for anything but system updates in months

You're interested in Rayman, yet you don't have the Challenge App?

Probably been said a thousand times before, but I think NSMBU would have been much better received if they had just changed the damn music. It's almost exactly the same as NSMB2 on the 3DS, which seems very lazy and makes the game feel like it is just a cheap clone. Worse it doesn't suit the mood of the game at all.

Playing Super Mario World again just reminded how much better that game was for having a frankly awesome soundtrack. Really hope Luigi has a different soundtrack.

I don't really know where to ask this, but is there any history of the Classic Controller Pro having issues while playing Wii games? I've been playing some Smash Bros Brawl, and it seems that the connection between the controller and the Wii U is lost for a fraction of second quite often, enough to stop my characters from running, or stopping their charging abilities, like Ike or Jigglypuff.

It's fucking annoying. It's a new controller, so i doubt its broken... i hope.

Never heard of that complaint before. Do you have another you can try? Or a different Wiimote perhaps?

Getting kinda excited for Game & Wario. Iwata Asks always have this effect on me.

the footage I saw from the Japanese release seems great too. Some of the music in particular is awesome. My friends and I are getting a little bored of Nintendo Land, so Game & Wario might really hit the spot.

After a few more testing, it happen with a different classic controller and a different Wiimote, even if i play with the Wiimote alone, although it happens a lot more with the one who have a motion plus inside. I played with Ike and tested with his charging fire sword attack, and he didnt finish his charge fully quite a couple of times.

Its just weird. Maybe there is a lot of interferences in my apartment building? I dunno, i dont have that issue while playing the Rayman Challenge app with the Wii U Gamepad. =/

I really like it. I had a couple people over for a Wii U party and we played a lot of Game and Wario. Even though it only uses the GamePad and no Wiimotes it's still fun for everyone. I still haven't played all the games (there's a lot) but they're good and varied. My wife and I have gotten into Patchwork which is kind of a relaxing puzzle game with good music.

Yo guys, that EA guy told me this system is junk so it's gotta be junk.

Honestly though, I haven't touched it at all since I bought it. I bought it for Pikmin 3, so I cannot be disappointed until after that comes out.

:o

I feel like a broken record at this point, but if you've never played ZombiU or MH Tri Ultimate, you're definitely missing out on some good fucking gaming.
