I know people love the Off TV play and it is a nice feature, I love it too.
But the basic gamepad implementation of having the menu, map, items, etc on the gamepad and having the entire TV screen for the game without anything is really spoiling me. Seems like a rather simple thing when you hear about it, but experiencing it is at another level. It really inmmerses you in the game, and the gamepad seems like a tool you have in the game.
I experienced it in ZombiU but I was to scared to notice. Now that I am playing AC3 and I activated the gamepad enhancement (yes wierd it is not on by default), I am reallyy inmersed in this game. Lego City should have used this and take all HUD elements out of the TV.
So the gamepad will have 3 uses that I see:
1. Basic stuff implementation like map, items, menu, etc: like I said before if it clears the screen of every HUD element it serves for great inmersion. This feature receives less credit than it deserves and I beleive that you have to experience it to get how valuable it is.
2. Off TV play: been able to play some games while you watch a game, news or something else is great.
3. Crazy implementations I hope we get in the future: well everything counts here and I expect Game & Wario to be the first to have creative use of the gamepad, cannot wait for that game, plus at that price is a no brainer.
