Yeah I can agree with this. Thanks for explaining.

I'm still working on HS Stun Edge frc. I thought it was pretty hard before but it's getting a lot easier.

That is imo one of the harder FRC's in the game to get down just from the timing being delayed on it compared to other FRC's. Which is funny seeing how it's on Ky of all characters.

for some reason I don't see clean screenshots here so posting some:

How Street Fighter 4 should have looked.

Wonder if this will show up at E3, since it has english subs and everything. I could see it being part of MS' reveal or something, though not expecting any kind of exclusivity. Might be kind of soon but maybe they will show something, even if it's just Sol and Ky.

With such a japanese centric fanbase I cannot see it being a microsoft exclusive.

Hell, it might not even appear on Xbox. Blazblue CP has no xbox port announced.

GG's pretty easy to get into, but same with BB. I do think GG's harder (when you're reaching competitive levels) just because converting off of hits and optimizing can be tough. Screen spacing, character weight, among other things make it harder. There are other little things like difficult it is to safely burst and FD using up meter which makes it tough early on in the match with no tension.

I also find dealing with oki a lot more difficult in GG because of how strong it is while BB is more difficult in successfully doing proper oki for most characters.

I do agree that while I love GG, lots of GG fans try to make it sound more complicated than it really is

But again P4A beats both. That game is made for people who are new to fighting games.

Well the RPGs are made for people who are new to that genre as well, it's just an accessible/casual series. Great to see ArcSys back on this series though, much better use of their talents than BB or Persona even if I have no interest in it.

Yeah, I think MS will just give up on Japan after failing with both the Xbox and the 360 to attract them.

How Street Fighter 4 should have looked.
SF4 was the first real 2D fighter in a long, long time, and it revived the genre, so I think it should get a pass for slightly wonky graphics. I remember it being the first 2.5D game to really wow me. Nowadays it's less impressive, especially compared to stuff like this, but for its time it looked pretty damn good.

No offence to them, but I kind of hope so. There were a lot of those Shmups and stuff as 360 exclusives in Japan that would have been super import friendly had the 360 not been region locked. I know later titles eventually stopped region locking, and a few got localized, but it was still a bummer.

only characters who might not make the cut:

kliff
justice
robo ky
order sol

that's about it really

maybe anji, i don't think i know anyone who cares about or plays the dude

3 years apart from GGXXAC isn't what I would call a long long time.

lol @ Dizzy getting cut, not gonna happen.
Venom isn't either, he's the head of the assassin's guild now and has ties to major parts of the story.

3D? Ill finally start this series. This is how all 2D games should be made, I'd give most of them the time of day and they'll have my money

If only KoF was 3D again

God, no.

KoFXIII has some of the best spritework this gen, next to BlazBlue. Those are like the only fighting games keeping sprites alive, aside from Skullgirls.

Prior to this video, I strongly believed in the need for 2D sprite based fighters to stick around, now I am not so sure. If we can accomplish this now, by the end of the gen it should be near impossible to tell the difference.

It's an extremely versatile engine. It just happens most devs use it for generic action games.

Seriously, you guys should go look at Hawken, DmC, and Asuara's Wrath. They all make excellent use of the engine.

Please, Asura and DmC both run like complete dogturdlingers on consoles.

Thank god this is for next-gen, we can finally move past frame-tearing, bad framerates and texture pop-in. UE3 on consoles has always been a disaster, especially on PS3.

Maybe I'm just attached to how much work and detail goes into animating 2D sprites. The animations in KoFXIII and BlazBlue are absolutely wonderful.

I don't mind if more fighting games start taking this approach, I just hope to god that there will still be sprite-based fighters around.

EDIT: To clarify, I love what ArcSys has accomplished here don't get me wrong. I think it's beautiful.

Although I doubt it, going by popularity Order Sol could end up in the game, a lot of players main him.

Yeah i won't mind if KOF look like this to tell the truth and up to yesterday i was saying fuck 3D .

Wow! Just, wow! That camera spin at the beginning of the trailer took me by surprise. Heck, a new GG being in development took me by surprise :D

I still think there should be some sprite based fighters, they certainly still have a certain charm. Yet if series like GG and KoF go that way of nicely detailed 3D like this, I don't mind. I'm sure some franchises will stick with it.

Damn I wanted to post some old GG1 prototype stuff for shits and giggles but they are magazine scans :lol

They really shouldn't keep a character just for the sake of story, though.
Ok then he get's to stick around for his unique gameplay. Either way he's sticking around.

I can't be sad when it's clear the whole system aims to deliver the impact the sprites had. All the way to the framerates and keys of the original. Marvelous work from the developers, they already have my money.

lol, there you again. You can say that the consoles aren't able to take full advantage of it, but the graphics engine itself is still sound.

Again, just to clarify I love what ArcSys has done. It looks amazing.

In any case if Capcom is still going through with making a new Darkstalkers game, i hope it looks closer to this and nothing at all like SF4, SFXT or even MVC3 for that matter.

Yeah...but look how long it took to make XII/XIII. Upwards of 5 years, and a whole lot of time and money sunk into it. We'll be lucky if SNKP can even afford to keep making fighting games.

Frankly, I wouldn't be surprised if the fact that SNKP is getting chummy with the guys behind "XuanDou" is a sign that they too are getting ready to embrace a similar direction. Drawing sprites is just not really an efficient use of time and money anymore, when you can easily take renders of 3D models to accomplish a similar effect and skip the extra step of drawing sprites on top of 3D renders.

ASW was one of the early developers to get their hands on a PS4 kit. Chances are that they'll be at the Sony conference imo.

I wouldn't be so sure. Ishiwatari talked about making a GG game for PS3/360 a while ago, while Mori was the one who was hinting at a new franchise for the PS4.

Unless things have changed, I'm thinking this new GG game is staying with the PS3/360 side of things.
