Square Enix teasing their E3 booth

It's funny how all of this stuff that's happening with Versus/Type-0/etc is no different from previous gens like with what happened to Xenogears/FF7/FF8. They just had more control over themselves when it came to blabbing about games in development I guess.
Could you elaborate on that? I have absolutely no idea about the ps one rd games development

I'd never heard that, that's crazy. Parasite Eve was also the result of a stab at FF7 I believe.
If i remember, Square recently cancelled some projects in development. How i wish we could've seen them. It is not like back in the old days, when the scrapped projects ended up becoming a entirely new I.P like Parasite Eve and Xenogears :(

That would only make me (and a few others I deem) even more upset/sad.

They have a FF for PS4 to show at E3.
With other teams working on FFXIII LR, FFXIV ARR etc there is now way they would have made a new FF. Therefore its most likely FF Versus.

I've heard this a lot but I feel like people are underestimating SE. If FF XV ends up being a new title, we don't know how much they have done. At the Sony conference he said that SE was "preparing for development of a Final Fantasy title." If it's a brand new FF it's probably a while away, and last we heard I don't think Luminous is entirely done yet. Plus, FF XIV and LR (and FF X HD I guess) are all slated for this year and will all release in a couple months. They'll be freed up then.

The entire Osaka team?

I would like to think someone is Square is working on KH3 right now. If 2.5 comes in 2014 surely its logical to release KH3 in 2015.

Not the entire Osaka team. 1.5 started with two programmers from Osaka, then that grew to five as well as a large number of planners and designers from Osaka and Tokyo (Versus team).

I don't think there's much reason to think that Osaka won't be working on KH3 to some extent as Nomura basically considers them the main KH team now...

If the rumors about Versus becoming FF15 and possibly co-developed with Sony are not true, I'm not sure I have any interest for the company during E3.

Only a FF7 remake would get me excited, and even now I'm not sure I would care anymore. I want to see something amazing and new from them.

Honestly... that Roen website "error" was no mistake. There's no way they "accidentally" typed 15 instead of Versus.

Someone said Julien Merceron (WW director of technology at SE) KH was running on Crystal Tools. I forgot about that and that is true.

http://kh13.com/news/29408-se-director-of-technology-kingdom-hearts-iii-utilizes-crystal-tools

FFDream: We imagine that this technology will be used for the next Square Enix productions.

Tetsuya Nomura could use it for the next Kingdom Hearts III?

Julien Merceron: We will use the Luminous Engine for a lot of games, not only Final Fantasy. By the way, currently, Final Fantasy uses the Crystal Tools, but also the news Dragon Quest X and other projects such as Kingdom Hearts. Luminous Engine will thus be used for a large range of games and, I hope, by a lot of teams, but we still have a lot of work to do.

FFDream: We presume, of course that this technology will be put to use in future productions coming from Square Enix. Do you believe Tetsuya Nomura could perhaps make use of this technology in Kingdom Hearts III?

Julien: It's already evident that we're using Luminous Engine on various franchises other than just Final Fantasy. However, Crystal Tools, as I was talking about earlier, is employed exclusively on Final Fantasy, only for now. Since the next Dragon Quest X uses Crystal Tools, as well as internal projects such as Kingdom Hearts which also utilize Crystal Tools, it's evident that Luminous Engine will cover a large spectrum of gaming franchises and I hope it will be taken advantage of by other teams, but we still have a lot of work to do.

But could that be referring to 1.5 Remix (do remasters use new engines?), or KH3?

All we know is that Nomura "pretty much considers" Osaka team the new Kingdom Hearts team and that they are working on "several" KH games besides Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 Remix (they said this in an interview a few months before 1.5 came out in Japan).

In regards to the old Kingdom Hearts team helping out on Kingdom Hearts III I am sure the core KH team is assisting with concepts and design for the new game but Osaka has proven they are more than capable of handling the Kingdom Hearts IP with Nomura.

As for Versus, I think it's much farther along then some people think. You have to realize that the game went into full production almost 2 years ago (mid summer 2011) and that's when Square Enix went radio silent on the game.

Most signs are pointing to E3 reveal now more then ever. But we've had signs point to re-reveals on other events and it not showing up. The most damning evidence for it showing up is coincidentally the perfume that was shown on twitter.

That perfume is supposed to get more details about it in the summer. Now you don't get more details about merchandise like that unless the game itself is shown and ready for a re-reveal.

Also with Nomura an Square Enix dropping hints it's almost certain that Versus XIII will be shown. But it will be called something else.

Final Fantasy XV. The certainty about this from some fans is because of the Roen leak. Say want you want about typos but in Japanese and English it's very hard to make a typo like that. From Versus XIII to 15. That's a pretty radical typo. The thing was it was on the Roen site for months. Obviously it wasn't a problem until fans saw it. People don't usually put made up games on their resumes or biographies.

Put two and two together on all of this and you will see why we are pretty confident in our assumptions and predictions.

I believe FFvsXIII will be on the PS3 just like Gran Turismo 6. SE can't ignore that 78+ million install base.

ya Sony should just cancel the PS4 and keep catering to that 78 million install base.

A Japanese fashion designer who was commissioned to do the clothing design for Versus.

ah ok. Yea Versus is Final Fantasy XV for sure, anyone who doubts this is a fool. I just hope it's next gen exclusive.

There's no way that's a typo...the web designer in the company deliberately put that in, as instructed by their boss/manager, to update their company portfolio detailing work that they did in the past. I can guarantee after it was discovered and put up on news sites, Square contacted Roen and asked them to remove it.

Saying it's a typo, but then just removing it completely, is just a hilariously bad cover.

I thought crystal tools was dead

Pretty sure they're still using it in LR. And DQ X used it too. And if that KH whatever (KH3?) pans out. If Versus hasn't moved to PS4 and isn't showcasing Luminous, then that too.

Edit: And XIV?

Going forward they'll probably start to move forward with Luminous for next gen.

Xenogears was originally going to be FF7 before becoming Xenogears(big changes). Due to the general scenario was referred as being too dark for FF.

I had no idea. Thanks for that info.

Man...FF7, Xenogears and Parasite Eve. That was some good times being a gamer. I think back to those days and games with a smile.

KH3 would obviously be a next gen game so crystal tools wouldn't make sense. Unless the game has been secretly developed for ps3 this whole time and releases next year.

Versus is using an engine specifically modified for it. I think it started off on CT, then got some modifications and then got some Luminous stuff thrown in (like the lightning).

Couldn't go wrong with Squaresoft man.

Back then, seeing the Squaresoft logo was a seal of quality. You could buy a game blind and still have a good time.

I don't know about next year but it wouldn't be surprising for KH3 to release on PS3. The Remixes are on it, and would be a good way to get the entire series, including 3, on one console (and so the series isn't more spread out, though you would only need two, maybe three systems depending on what they do with DDD). Nomura also did say he wanted KH3 on current gen because development for next gen would take even more time.

It would be a lateish release if it released past 2014 though so we'll see.

That may have been a modified CT. I think it's safe to say it is/was (if moved to next gen) using CT though like other FF titles.
