Square Enix teasing their E3 booth

You mean "two more days". :P

Exactly. lol

I expect a month long crash.

Evilore should buy a second board and divide the GAF population into both of them so that none would fall.
Im joking and I have no idea how this works :P

Especially if every vaporware PS3 title shows up at E3.

The Last Guardian, XVersus, and Agent all showing up at once?

GAF goes full Dark Ages.

Imagine if there were just-revealed titles like KH3, Chrono Break, Final Fantasy XVI, Dragon Quest XI.

6 months worth of crashing.

GAF is destroyed in the aftermath and survivors are sent wondering the net in search of a new home. It would be known as the reckoning.

Drop the XIII and just name it FF Versus for Gods sake.

The track record of Nomura/Nojima (FFVII, Kingdom Hearts) is much better than Toriyama/Watanabe (FFX-2, Turd Birthday, FFXIII).

Yea, but regardless of the name if SE markets the damn thing right, they "shouldn't" have anything to worry about.

EDIT: Sorry, I just feel that it's kind of cheap to switch v13 to 15.

I really don't get this line of thought. Like at all.

What people think isn't any issue. Not after all ff13 damage lol

Yes it will be an issue. People will think its a spin-off. It's supposed to be treated as a mainline entry. No amount of marketing can fix market and consumer confusion when naming the game Versus or Versus XIII. Calling it Final Fantasy XV is literally the best opinion for consumers and Square Enix.

Isn't that better than knowing it's something related to FFXIII?

For the amount of work put into it (as seen by the trailer), it will be better off as a mainline FF title. Making it a XIII title will lower its sales due to the XIII branding and connectivity. Making it a "Versus" title will make the consumers think it's some fighting spin-off.

What if consumers think "FF XIII and FF XIV were bad, FF XV must be bad too."

lol.

Honestly no matter what they name it if they market it properly it'll be fine. Right now everyone knows it's called FF Versus XIII and if they released it with that name I'm pretty sure everyone will know what it is and how it's not really connected to FF XIII as it's been called Versus XIII for the past 7 years. I think you guys are worrying too much.

-_- Not you too Yoshi.

FYI: I enjoyed FFXIII but of course like every FF game, it had problems. The story explanation was problematic because it felt cut and dumped into the datalogue but the graphics and gameplay were top-notch (sans the weapon system).

But my argument there is that 15 should be saved for something entirely "new". Versus should stay as "Versus" and 15 should be something else.

Versus is new man, you never played it. XVI is gonna be entirely new anyway, really, it should not matter.

It's still Final Fantasy.

HEY, I love FFXIII and FFXIII-2 is one of my favorite games this gen (best soundtrack, best villain, best combat system after Resonance of Fate). I'm just saying, FFXIII doesn't have the greatest reputation out there if this is supposed to be selling a lot of copies.

Oh its fine. Im mostly joking. I know it had its problems. I just get a little upset over how much hate it gets. :P

I forgive you of your sins.

People probably had very high expectations for the game since it took a bit long to release like FFXII. FFXII had a dividing fanbase (but it seems like a lot of GAFfers loved it). Expectations build over time.

If say FFXIII was released around 2007 or 2008, it would probably be less flamed than it was now.

Now the real problem is Versus XIII/FFXV being able to deliver the fans' very very high expectations. At least type-0 delivered.

Actually, yea... I just remembered something that someone else brought up weeks ago.

Maybe it wouldn't be such a bad idea to name versus as 15. I say this because that would essentially put three main FF's under the ps3.

ps1 - 7, 8, 9.
ps2 - 10, 11, 12.
ps3 - 13, 14, 15.

I mean, it falls in line with how many main FF's land on the Playstation consoles. Not sure if it's silly to look at it this way. Then, the "next gen" FF SE reveals at e3 can be FF16.

I don't exactly think FFXIII and its related games are an abomination to mankind but you must admit it have a more negative impact on the Final Fantasy brand than others FFs as well as having the most spin-off/sequel. Second to only FF7. (More if you count console only).

I think its best to move on if only so people can bitch about something else.

The most likely answer is Versus XIII, probably renamed to XV cross generation and maybe a XIV PS4 port, Thief, and maybe a throwaway announcement or two for other systems.

You know, I expect the PS3 to have the least amount of new mainline FF games and PS4 to have most in FF console history.

GBA has five and PSX has 8!

EDIT: PSP has 9 because of the III port! Vita will have 10! PS2 has them all except XIII and XIV!

Why do you think we'll have more FFs on PS4? Is it because you think that next-gen is going to be even longer than this one or that Square will finally get their stuff together and can release games at a reasonable amount of time?

Yeah, I definitely got used to the idea that XIII and XIII-2 are not as perfect as I thought they were. I just dont really like the approach most of GAF members do have in threads involving the XIII games where they simply drop a one line joke/complain and say its the worst game ever/nemesis for the series, it will never be good again, toriyama is a creep, and etc...

I mean, if only people would take their time to say what they dont like, what are the real problems for them and stop acting like the older games were perfect and didnt have problems (perception probably caused by nostalgia), that would be perfectly fine (Im not generalizing though, because I know there are real final fantasy fans here that dont like the game, and thats just fine of course).

You know, I expect the PS3 to have the least amount of new mainline FF games and PS4 to have most in FF console history.

Well, I really hope you are right.
