well the first part irony or not is true
they r failing hard under pretty much every point of view in the last 5 years

ps3 ps vita...psmove pseye tvs consumer electronics mobile phones...pretty much everywhere

Luckily for us, Microsoft had such amazing and successful products such as:

- Kin
- Zune
- Windows Phone
- Windows Vista
- Windows 8 (try selling those without preinstalling them)
- Surface

That were all amazing sellers and extremely well accepted among consumers. Redmond truly is flawless.

PS3, in the end was a great success for Sony, Vita, I agree, sucks. Xperia Z was a big success and currently Sony's mobile division is very profitable (the most profitable branch of the company IIRC standing in 3rd place in global shipments after Apple and Samsung).

You know, I understand that you are a Microsoft fan, but you should check your facts.

Are you honestly going to try to troll in this thread?

Are you honestly going to sit there and try to compare Sony and Microsoft's failures and successes?

Do you even realize the gap between these companies?

Do you know how many profitable billion dollar businesses Microsoft runs?

GAF will be down tomorrow.

In that case we should arrange alternate location for crow serving. Ideas? LOL, tomorrow will be glorious.

You must have missed the post I was replying to.

What's that got to with the Xbox reveal? This is a MS thread full of thier fans, there's bound to be put downs and insults to the competition, it's that time of the year.

It's pretty sad you have to actually come in and defend your favoroute toy lol.

I agree, if comparisons are to be made it should just be the entertainment divisions only.

How is this a bomb?

We've been trying to say this for months.

Just a joke mate, that is all.

I'm hoping for some unique entertainment hub/amp features announced with next gen xbox. Stuff like:

1. Picture in picture or pass through with some added features.
2. Separation of XBL chat to game music/sounds without needing additional turtle beach or mix amps etc.
3. Inputs/outputs galore, this is the connected age after all.
4. Multi display support.

30 hours left

time for a temporary avatar switch

since I am on a diet I have changed my reveal meal to Korean style sauce marinated Tofu with rice,

If we don't see Alan Wake 2 tomorrow I will be very disappointed.

I think you'll be disappointed dude. MS have the entire year to reveal games, from E3, to Comic Con, or Gamescom to the VGAs. I'm expecting they will space thier software reveals out through the year.

PS3, in the end was a great success for Sony

That depends on how you look at it. With PS3 Sony lost a significant chunk of the market share and the mind share they had in the previous two generations. While they did manage to keep PS3 relevant, and the global shipment figures are very good, it was a huge money sink for them; in its opening years it lost them far more money than it managed to earn back afterwards, and it's questionable whether it will ever break even as a platform.

Fantastic.

wow that banjo game looks really good.
is it worth the purchase ?

Yes, just don't expect it to be a traditional platformer.

The amount of hype gifs for a series MS saw get its throat cut because they thought they didn't need it anymore feels pretty weird!

One more day and I can finally fucking stop even typing the dumbest of words "Durango", blech!

Bravo MS bravo at keeping a secret and making everyone go crazy with anticipation.
Only around 30hrs to go and I can't wait to see what MS has to show us.

That's why I said "in the end" :) I'm aware that post launch years (before PS3 Slim) were completely fucked up.

So, back to topic, any news about Live expansion? We only talk about the hardware, what about new Live features? Will Microsoft open Live to more countries this time?

I'm guessing this will be only the beginning of people trolling this thread today.

I'd hate to see such a great thread have such a terrible ending.

Likely, even.

Microsoft Corp. MSFT +2.32%will unveil its new Xbox on Tuesday. What's underneath the hood of the latest videogame console represents a multiyear odyssey of trying to figure out how to keep the machine "cool" in the age of smartphones and tablets.

Since the last Xbox debuted in 2005, Microsoft has produced multiple prototypes for a new console and experimented with different technologies for it, said people familiar with the matter. The company has looked at streaming games from far-away servers to the latest Xbox; sending recorded videos of game exploits on the Web from the console; and including various television technologies, these people said.

What has got to do with anything he said.
He's saying not everything MS puts out is a success and not eveyrthing Sony has put out has been a failure. Both companies have failed and succeeded numerous times. Its kinda how business works.

This is not the thread for this.

This thread was great? I thought it was largely unremarkable. Mainly due to lack of leaks/memes.

Apparently you never joined in on our fun.

So, back to topic, any news about Live expansion? We only talk about the hardware, what about new Live features? Will Microsoft open Live to more countries this time?

I'm speculating live features such as automatic recording, social sharing, rendering and similar will be built into a new version of the console/LIVE freeing developers from having to in-engine develop those features over and over.

As for new features I'd like to see:

1. A new platinum service where you can do BF3 style player/regional hosted servers. I'd prefer if you'd have to have two consoles to accomplish this or not play on yours for example.

2. A certification process for official host or regional host or host lists etc. Like a two week test of a player owned console/connection to really spread some wings or further point 1 above.

3. Allowing community modded content into LIVE/matchmaking games.

4. A live or slight delay spectator style system.

5. In game tournaments for money including prize pools, entry fees, brackets, results, streaming, awards, advertising/sponsors, avatar badges and all that just linked right into one awesome console/LIVE system that can handle online and LAN based play all the same.
