gaf gonna love that...

But even the Bloomberg's, NYT, Forbes coming up with precious little against MS airtight leak defenses on the final monday

Honestly if the next console plays all the 3rd party games and has great exclusives I wouldn't mind it being called an 'Entertainement Hub'. In fact I'm looking for an excuse to replace my Apple TV as it struggles with 1080p content regularly.

Above poster; 500 sounds about right to me for game installs. What are we expecting for next gen in terms of install size of games? 15-30GB? With an option to 'cleanup' your hard drive later in the cycle when space runs out.

Can you tell me what sort of reaction you expected from saying stuff like that in this thread?

Most of it isn't even relevant to the discussion.

Windows 8 has had as much impact on Xbox 360 as Xperia phones have on PS3. It's fanboy point scoring bullshit. Are you 12?

Please stop. I'm 29 not 12. Take a look at the post I was replying to. Did you criticize Kayle for posting such things (that were also completely irrelevant to this topic) or are you just coming after me since my posts don't suit your preferences?

I know that you are trying to provoke me, you are failing. Don't waste my time by replying to my posts.

Everytime I see that Banjo game, I imagine what banjo threeie would be like with similar graphics.

Actually I have criticised Kayle - for trying to find things in the leaked specs that weren't there.

I'm not trying to provoke you at all...

29 and posting list warz though? Really mate?

This should be a time where we all celebrate having an amazing hobby and sub culture.

A big hard drive is an investment for Microsoft, they want consumers to have enough free space to spend more money without a second thought. 500GB is surely the minimum, anything less would considered the "tard pack"... hmm, that's a much more offensive term these days!
Very true, I'm sure DLC will keep getting bigger and they might push the games on-demand a little harder, and hopefully put games on it sooner.

i hope they do day and date, even though it will irreparably damage our sales knowledge (what we get anymore)

hell i might do something crazy like buy metro ll on my xbox if i didn't have to go to the store for it. instant gratification counts for a lot in my book.

Then how about we bury the hatchet and continue on topic? Although it may seem otherwise, I'm very excited about this reveal.

Yep, there's a lot of shuffling DLC and installed games that goes on.

i held on to a 20gb pretty long. i remember that.

honestly i didn't mind too much, till the install games feature came along. then i wanted to install games and it's not very feasible on the 20 gig (which is like 13 gigs free)

now i've got a 120gb. much better

Works for me.

This could very well be the last time we have console launches like this.

They could very well be the last consoles launches full stop.

Everyone should just keep sight of that and revel in it like a hot pig in shit.

Actually I'm always kind of surprised by the amount of space games take up. I think Skyrim is like 4.9GB. It does kind of make me wonder whether DVD-9 was actually that much of a crutch for the 360 this gen.

Yeah same day release on on-demand would be nice, but I doubt they will with gamestop and such. I could see like a week delay, so people that really want it have to go to places like that. But I hear ya, there's times when I feel like trying a new game and just want something I can download.

Physical media space was rarely if ever going to be a major problem for the 360.

Not many games required multiple DVDs.

And I have to wonder, will this thread survive until reveal?

Getting ever so close to that 20,000 and the speed it probably only going to pick up the closer we get.

it's pretty clear despite the fanboy crying for the most part it was fine. there were undeniably a few corner cases where it hurt, but they were just that.

sure, blu ray would have been better, but not $200 on the initial price better.

and next gen we all move onto blu ray, now it's needed.

I always remember reading about stuff like Uncharted taking 25GB or whatever, and thinking, 'oh man 360 is fucked'. Now I have no idea how you could make a game like Uncharted fill 25GB if Skyrim and Assassins Creed 3 can fit entirely on a single DVD-9.

enjoy this last hours of "desiring" (is this word correct?)

next time is like 7 years :/ (maybe)

maybe less, though.

if one player suffers bad damage early, they could bring out a new console much sooner than we think. last gen only lasted so long cause all players did ok.

the obvious candidate right now would be nintendo.

Man, this always happens. Normally, I'd just watch this on my second monitor at work with no problem.

Just checked my calendar and I have a team outing from 1-4. I'm ET so it starts at 1 here. :\

So, looks like I'm setting the DVR for the Spike broadcast and watching it once I get home. Damn.

Wow at still no leaks. So either we are in for some shock and awe or everything has been leaked already. Good times peeps. Enjoy the countdown.

That makes me sad. I really hope this isn't the last time.

if i had to bet money i'd say it's not.

like for example, pretty for sure nintendo will do another home console imo, given their general well, lack of forward thinking.

the only real option is cloud i think, and that has questions still.

Actual game data takes around 8GB, FFXII for excample

The reduced size of FFXIII can easily be explained by more aggressive compression in the game's large array of CGI cut-scenes. Of the total 39.4GB that makes up the Japanese FFXIII on PS3, a quick look at the file structure on the Blu-ray disc suggests that a whopping 32.6GB of it is dedicated entirely to the video sequences, leaving just 6.8GB for the actual gameplay.

Also, look at PC. For higher textures and high def video Max Payne is like 20GB. Do not dismiss space, especially for textures and video. Actual game logic and stuff does not take much, its assets.

They have been so tight, the event takes place in that tent on their grounds for a reason. Nothing will leak until people are actually allowed inside. I'd expect even those that are working there are under lockdown with no phones allowed and having to stay on campus for those two weeks.

Has there ever been a console launch that's been kept this quiet so close to the event? I mean, we literally know *nothing* about the console. Nothing meaningful, anyway.

I realise that assets take up the most space. But looking at something like AC3 I still don't buy that DVD9 was a big problem for the 360. Texture quality in that game was pretty decent, there were a lot of (in-game) cutscenes and it was an open world game. Of course the fact that they gave PS3 a BR drive and then effectively hamstrung it with 256MB of VRAM meant that it never really got to flex its wings effectively. I guess that really helped 360 not get left behind.

i hope nintendo fix this wii u situation ..seriously
