Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | May 2013 | Lovecraftian Wasteland

Ahh. So wait, the regular price is $1.39?? o_O

I was assuming it was on sale for $1.39 and it's an extra 30% off for PS+. :lol

edit: reviews seem okay

The game is normally $1.99. There should be a 50% discount for PS+ members for one month. The Vita game comes with the modes that are IAP on iOS and Android.

Top/Mid Page: Buy Passing Time tomorrow on PSM!

I'm just messing with you guys. You know when you move your finger to the right and the icons get bigger? Yeah, that.

Not sure if this has been posted before, seems like a neat puzzle/escape room type of game?

“DYING : Sinner Escape” is a game that is all about exploration and mystery.
It was created by top Hollywood movie and game development talent.
The game features a mysterious and compelling storyline that revolves around a mysterious plan
and secret events.
In the story multiple characters are kept in different strange but familiar places which are somehow
familiar in their nightmares.

Saw it on TouchArcade:http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?threadid=189550

PlayStation Vita version is expected to arrive on PSN sometime during 2013.

Couple of questions, does GAF have a recommendation on screen protectors? And are there any good deals on memory cards out there? (For someone who will be signing up for ps+)

I don't know what the hell this is, even after reading the description, but I'll keep an eye out for it. Looks like it has point and click adventure influences, and if it's a horror game then even better.

Filling my new 32GB card felt good. Realising I still have 10-15 games uninstalled feels bad. I want 128GB announcing at E3.

I reckon I'll fill my old 16 with PSP & PS1 games.

With the newer firmware updates, is it convenient to have more than one card? Like, does it still reset the bubble positions and wallpapers when you change cards?

It keeps the position for the most part. It's not perfect but most of the position is kept. I wish I could switch cards without having to turn the system off, but it is definitely better than it used to be.

If what famousmortimer is true, and Sony is going to be pushing DD for the Vita, I can see a 64 and a 128 released in time for the holidays. It would be in their best interest to have them more reasonably priced as well. The memory card pricing is probably their biggest hurdle in getting more sales.

How were the sales for the game in Japan?
Not great. But it is one of the better-selling Vita titles as far as we know, and all things considered it came pretty close to Ys 7 during its first week. I don't think Falcom is massively disappointed or anything.

BTW, for Amazon buyers: Ys will show up in your Quick Picks if you're lucky/manipulate things right. I'm really torn on whether I should take the plunge...this year has been so expensive :(

Hardboiled or Normal Brno? Hardboiled Brno is a jeeeeeeeeeeeerk.

Not even hardboiled.

I get him down to where the rocket launching assholes show up, and then without fail, I get caught by something and end up dying.

I'm pretty sure it's not possible. I got him down to the point where Putzki claims there's no more reinforcements (but they keep showing up) and Brno has his shield up constantly. Then I died.
Now I can't even get that far.

Guys, playing Hot Shots Golf and I know if can get some shots by pressing the D-Pad... thats called a spin shot? What are the advantages of doing that? I know the colors change once its up/down or left/right but I dont understand at all. Thanks for the help VitaGAF.

I'm not 100%, maybe someone can confirm who has played it more:

Shoot over an obstacle, it spins to the right place when it lands?

I'm not sure if it curves in the air more generally too (resisting/going with the path of wind).

=-=-=- btw guys, if any of you like fifa casually - not enough to pay for it or really care about extra modes, check out the demo (if they were silly enough to put one up on the US store - although I guess it's cheaper than actually advertising). Choose a team, play a match, it's great :P I do basically the same thing now anyway - got fifa 13 free with a uk amazon deal.

if you press down you get backspin, the ball trajectory will be higher so you could use it to pass over hill or obstacles if needed, the higher trajectory will also make the wind direction affect the ball more whether the wind is resisting the ball making it go shorter distance, or if the wind is moving in the same direction as the ball, making it go further. also backspin will make the ball roll or bounce less distance after it lands.

also, if you press up dpad during the preswing, and then down dpad during the hit, if you manage to hit the sweet spot, you'll get super backspin where your ball will spin on fire and move backwards after you touch greens. oh and if you manage to hit the flag pole with any super spin (back/front, left/right) I think it will guaranteed a hole there.

Thanks, Callibretto.

Starlight: inception teaser. Full trailer at the end of the month

Never knew about this, glad it's not a movie spin-off. Looks promising, I wanting to get into the genre on pc but could never be bothered to sit down that long with that sort of game.

From the FAQ:

What will I be doing in this game? said:
There are two main game modes - one is mission based, and has a storyline following a pilot through the fourth World War, fought amongst the planets and moons of our star system. The missions are varied, including straight shoot-'em ups, rescue missions, salvage missions. All the missions contain elements of exploration, combat and in some cases, stealth and tagging the enemy for larger assaults. There is a fair amount of world building in this mode, as you interact with enemies and wingmen, sometimes discovering things or achieving things during the mission that affect the overall course of the story.

The second game mode is a sort of strategic defense of your mothership, where you deploy turrets and engage in ship to ship combat to defend against incoming marauders. This mode is more geared toward players who just want to get in a cockpit and begin engaging the enemy (i.e. casual players).

Both modes have achievements locked to them, as well as gaining the player command prestige for objectives met and side quests. Command prestige is the currency of the game, and allows players to 'purchase' better ships, better weapons, better equipment, better drone wingmen.

I see a Vita version and a PC version? Which platform will lead? Will one of them be dumbed down? said:
Because the Vita is such a technologically advanced handheld, there shouldn't be any dumbing down going on between the two platforms. In our minds and the design, the gameplay is the same on both platforms, with the primary difference being the obvious control schemes and optimizing assets for the size of the screen.

Why Playstation Vita? said:
For a small studio to survive, it has to stand out where there isn't a lot of competition from larger products. Originally PSP made sense from that perspective, but PSP couldn't handle the graphics we were throwing at it. So we thought, where now? And we looked at Vita, a touch device with twin joysticks with no space games on it, and thought this might be a place where we could shine. The reason we then chose PC was because, with modern engines (at least our modern engine) there's no such things as ports. Unity3d, for instance, has buttons to export to iOS, XBOX 360, Mac and PC, amongst others. Your chief concerns are adjusting for screen size, and setting up a control scheme which works. Vita can push polys so much better than any other handheld, that it can support near - PC graphics. So we make our art assets for PC first and foremost, and then downsample textures and (maybe) poly count for the Vita. But things like physics, gameplay, game modes, etc - they all go over with the touch of that switch. If doing the graphics for PC first means PC leads, then we can agree to disagree on this fact. In the old days, back at Lucas, a port really was a port. You basically had to rewrite all of your code to get it to work on other platforms, which led to compromises. We do not intend to make compromises with Starlight, and shouldn't have to.

Thanks, Callibretto.

From the Faq:

Yeah sounds great. Vita was the main reason I backed it (and supported it and helped get it a bit of attention helping ut reach the goal) so it's good tp see them working hard on that version

Not sure how I missed it, but definitely nice to see, bit of a surprise really. Looking forward to the full trailer, thanks.

More than welcome. I'll post the full trailer here when it's out

Awesome.

Looks awesome, I think I've seen it before. Still lame that $120,000 is when they do a Vita version :\ No way they're getting 33$K in 2 days but who knows. Here's hoping they get enough for a Vita version but.. still they have Ouya before Vita :\

Yeah it's not happening goal-wise, looks good though. That said, it doesn't mean they won't realize their foolishness like that other kickstarter with the crazy Vita stretch goal :P

idk if i'm reading the a.n.n.e kickstarter page wrong, but it seems like reaching the $120,000 is just to get it done faster. so i assume that means it's coming even if it doesn't reach the goal.

edit: yup! says so in the updates. it's just going to take a bit longer to get.

Yeah you're right!

What if we don't reach the console stretch goals?

The consoles listed in the stretch goals will happen regardless of if we meet the stretch goals or not. But it will take longer than if we do meet the stretch goals. This could be a good opportunity for the wishful to pledge $15 and up and then when the game comes out on console later, it will be a good reason to explore Planet Gomi a second time!

Keep em coming devs :P Guacamelee has me pumped for more of that. Looks really cute too.

Really looking forward to starlight inception, my only concern is that with the vita version is going to look like and how it will run. I want to believe then that there is parity, but I am cautiously optimistic.

The physics won't be Newtonian, should be alright I bet!

Vita has enough ram for loads of different textures (for different levels of detail) so hopefully draw distance won't be too bad either. -although that's confusing (and potentially bullshit) but whatever :P

Gonna support as long as the $15 tier can guarantee a PSN code, just like Starlight Inception. The way that is written don't guarantee a code, only for Steam - PC.

from the faq:
The $15 pledge gives you access to the PC, Mac and Linux DRM free versions of the game as well as one of the following: Steam Key, Wii U, PSN or Ouya. Of course the release date for these additional versions of the game have yet to be determined.

Thanks. I backed it but never bothered to keep up with all the updates (I don't really keep up with any of them actually, I just only put money towards people/teams that I have faith in delivering). Looking awesome so far.

I can still remember how insane the last couple of days of its Kickstarter were though. It got SO close to missing the target.

Ahahahaha, Brno on hardboiled is a joke.
Got him on my 2nd or 3rd try.
Took me like 15+ to beat him on normal.

Now someone needs to play coop with me so I can get my platinum. :)
GothPunk, I think, I'll clear a spot on my list and send a FR.

Any Atelier Impressions? I'm finishing Persona 4 after like 70 hrs. Is Atelier any good and why? Otherwise wil start on VLR, was playing on 3DS and hit the save bug, so I know it's good just haven't wanted to play through 12 hrs again from scratch,

Starlight is the only one i keep up with.

Ans yeah i remember. A few of us took to twitter to spread the word and try and get it funded. Only just managed it...looks awesome though so glad we did.
