Forza Motorsport 5 announced

we should "kickstart" dan's ass to build us a game on pc
all wheel support, no cameras required, open to mod community for tracks - accuracy of upgrades etc

Where is Helios, or is cowering in the corner already, frightened by us. :)

Don't worry, he'll swing by sooner or later. Cool, calm and collected as if nothing has happened in the last week. We will then bombard him with one question after another after which he will begin to slowly ooze back out of the thread without having answered anything.
Kind of like this..

Next NFS is getting Ferrari. Hopefully this means unrestricted use of Porsche in FM5 right from the start !
I want dem 917, 935, 918, etc... :)

Yep, I've just realized that too. It seems that EA and MS/Turn 10 struck a deal.
EA will give Porsche access to MS, while in return, MS gives access to EA for Ferrari...

FTW!

I didn't know it wasn't CG until I paid close attention to the 1080p trailer. That speaks very well of the quality of the graphics of the X1. I am a bit relieved.

Yeah with all the talk about specs here, you'd think the X1 was barely more powerful than the WiiU. If games can look this good at launch i think i can live with the X1 having less ROPS( or whatthefuckever) than the PS4. Still, i wanted PGR5, dammit!:(

Although i'm not sure if i will get the Xbox One (i simply don't agree with the anti consumer side with internet connection and fees for used games etc), what you have said is exactly right.
Most games next gen will have similar quality graphics on both systems and if i'm being honest, there are still games from this generation that impress me graphicly so i'm certainly not going to be worried about a system that has 15 times more ram and a 6 times more powerful GPU! (if the leaks are right).
We really are geting to the point where graphics are so good that even the worst looking games next gen will probably be better looking than the best games from this gen and i certainly can live with that!.

Definitely. People worried that next-gen wouldn't be a big leap are going to once again be proven wrong. Everything we've got a fair look at so far has been massively impressive.

Did you download that 1.4gig Forza video?, if we can expect launch games with graphics that good then there is nothing to be worried about at all, especially as Forza is probably aiming for 60fps meaning that some 30fps games may look even better.

I think it's been made time and time again that in engine rendered videos can be fudged to make look much better since there is no AI, also there was only two cars. Yes it looked beautiful but let's see gameplay and number of tracks (new tracks) since that is at least for me the most important stuff.

Also the wheel / accessories talk hopefully will get cleared out soon.

I know there will be new tracks and know that fans have been asking for certain obvious ones, but I can't wait to see what upgrades the old tracks will get.....just want a proper nurburgring, damn it!

I also want to see Interface improvements for the Event List and ease of getting in our, swapping cars to meet the criteria and just outright buy a car if needed from there instead of having to figure out what cars of the many many in the garage fit that race.

Detailed, but not realistic.

Yeah, this is what gets to me. I think Forza 4 could have fooled me into thinking I was watching live video during some replays once in a while, and obviously so does GT5. But theres no chance in hell that I'm able to perform the mental gymnastics to trick myself into thinking this was real. It looked like a video game. I don't understand how they take that step back after doing so much right with the visuals in Forza 4.

My computer honestly cant run 60fps videos very well at all even in 720p so I'm not even going to bother.

@sneaky - yes, of course the gameplay itself wont look quite as nice, but you can still see a large leap as we can compare to older 'in-engine' trailers and whatnot. Its a big, big improvement.

I really hope this is the case. Couldn't care less about EA and what they gain from it. I thought it was a dicktease the way Porsche was integrated into Forza 4. I really did. I held out on this idea that we would be getting some GREAT cars, past and present. And albeit we got a handful of interesting models, I was sorely disappointed with regard to how many CUP cars were included within my $20 purchase. Left a very sour taste in my mouth, even if I did understand what I was purchasing beforehand.

For the love of God, though, I really hope Turn10 stays away from that piss-filter and motion blur for this title. Keep it clean and really focus the efforts on the core infrastructure. Gearing, grit, cockpit, engine note, presentation, options, customization, high resolution liveries, more MUSTANGS, telemetry, tire/fuel wear, clan options, etc.

That's what I really want.

And on a side note....it really is beautiful to see so many Forza faithfuls come back into this thread. Some of you.....I wondered if you guys were DEAD.

while i think it looks great, and very much representative of the final game, there is also a good likelihood that it will improve quite a bit before launch. it would be something else if we saw a jump like exhibited in the fm4 leaked vid to final game.

please have amalfi. it looks like xbone has the power to do it justice

Yep, couldn't agree more....especially the MUSTANGS part :0

Seriously though, I can't stand that we have so many copies of the same car. I mean, why can't we just have one CUP car instead of 50 with different liveries. I don't understand that at all.

BADNED did mention that what we've seen so far shouldn't be taken as final. There's still some ways yet for release so I expect tweaks and fine tuning until then.
Then again, I guess that's the same with every game that's months out from release..

Interesting...

The account that asked the question still has the tweet, including 3 other tweets which replies were removed by Rick_Lesley

@Rick_Lesley Sneaky indeed!

@Rick_Lesley Oh, the CG thing? Hah!

@Rick_Lesley Whaaaaat? What happened?

Surprise!

Looks in engine to me, not to say the final game with AI and whatnot will look that good, but you can see some of the imperfections which makes in engine.

Yeah, like low quality HDR/bloom, not-quite-high-res reflections, bad/mediocre smoke, meh ground textures and low-poly scenery. I really can't see why people think this is CG. It might be a little bullshotty, considering Turn 10's past, but not CG.

Hrrrrgggh....such an amazing car. I have been watching a LOT of old school Group C, IMSA GTP/GTU, and DTM races recently. I would love to see more of those cars in Forza.

Honestly? No.

That trailer was hardly representative of how their physics. Unless they completely script basically everything that trailer does... then you might as well call it "CG."

You're a broken record, man. You're in the wrong thread, let me promise you that. Your antics won't get you very far. lol

I'm talking about Forza's OWN merits, no one else's. That trailer was not representative of it's driving. The cars were basically floating the whole time. Look at their other trailers and you can see body roll and the suspensions getting a work out.

This trailer was a rushed highly pre-rendered hackjob in comparison to THEIR OWN work.

So side note, did anyone get the reasoning behind the two cards T10 chose? Very well done IMO, even if it was just a reveal.

Many of us do.

Thanks to BADNED, we know Turn 10 is, at the very least, well aware of the shortcoming's of Forza's Nordschleife:

They know how the fans feel about it. In the beginning it was a design choice to have it so but today it is not appropriate anymore and they know that. But you also have to keep in mind that such a huge environment like the Ring takes a lot of time to be recreated and is a resource eater.
In the same time you create the Ring you can create two to three different standard sized environments, just for the info.

Anyway the Ring as well as all the other real environments and this includes Silverstone are on their agenda to be brought to their latest looks in the future. But not everything will be possible as also brand new environments must be
introduced to the franchise.
Be patient it can only get better.

He brings up a good point regarding the resources that would have to go into redoing the 'Ring. If reworking it meant losing out on two or three smaller circuits, I'd be inclined to leave it as is.

Thats the kinda stuff that makes me think they could have benefited from an extra yr on the change to the new xbox instead of rushing to make it launch title

So, the Nord debate will rage on into next gen as well...looking forward to it.

Anyway, the Nord can die a bad death if it means Spa and Bathurst are in instead.

If the acquisition of the HDT/Holden/Ford/FPV licenses are still on the cards, holy shit!

Mount Panorama and Peter Brock.....fucking epic!!!

....and here we go!!

See...
I also keep saying "so disappointed, there's no way i'm buying the XBONE"...but then i find myself virtually yelling at T10 to get this and that right for FM5...

i surely hope they're using LOD0 models for all cars at all times, here.

Because the amount of polys wasted on those tires would be outrageous otherwise :P

Any assets with lineage to FM1 need to gtfo. I don't want to see a third generation, fifth coat of paint Tsukuba. Cut any tracks and cars that aren't being completely redone, including the Ring.

Yeah, there are some longstanding demons I'd like to see exorcised in terms of dodgy car models, outdated track layouts, and problems like the engine's inability to display wheels with different offsets.

The fact that so many of these issues abound after so long is frustrating, and I'm skeptical as to how many will be addressed, considering they're launching on new hardware, with a two-year dev cycle, and a host of new features and content to implement.

It all really makes me wish the game had another year or two in the oven.

T10 could have been building F5 in the background for years and then after Forza 4 started putting it all together, I'm sure I've read they've had open wheel vehicles modelled for a long time in preparation at least.

Could be bullshit but in a couple of weeks we'll know for sure.

I'd be completely fine with that. In fact, I think I've been asking to "GT3" the franchise for a few years now. Cut WAY back on the numbers, so you can bring something truly new to market.

That's exactly what Forza needs, less tracks.

Speaking of which, what kind of open wheel vehicles do people want to see?
