FFXIII would be cool on WiiU

I'm trying to understand how this would be better. Instead of looking at my tv and picking, I'd need to look down at the screen and pick?

Well, a different game with FFXIII's battle system would be cool

FFXIII needs more than extra touch screen controls to make it "cool"

I agree. This could be a pretty good idea. I'm going to put more thought into this and describe more systems in the game which could be implemented to provide a riveting experience for the gamer:

- Load online functions onto the Gamepad so the player can browse the internet, chat, or post on Twitter during the long cutscenes

- Implement motion controls for the Driving Mode in battles to make the summons feel more dynamic and intense

- Use the touch screen on the Gamepad to allow the player to plot routes on the maps for auto move

- As you said, allow the player to shift paradigms using the touch screen - but here's the icing on the cake - allow them to do that WHILE also browsing the internet, chating, or posting on Twitter on the same screen! Just have some overlay at the corner!

I'm sure the creative users here on NeoGAF can come up with many more great ideas, these are just a few suggestions to get the ball rolling!

The FFXIII trilogy would be a good fit for the Wii U and the GamePad, I agree.

And to counteract the majority here, I love FFXIII (though I haven't played the sequel).

The funny thing is that Nintendo only wishes for such a good and console seller title like Final Fantasy XIII to be on the Wii U.

I can't believe I'm saying this given I've been a notable FFXIII-2 and Lightning Returns detractor but I agree with duckroll.

But only in the context of combining FFXIII & FFXIII-2 into a single game and offering expanded non-linear content into the first title and more of a need to take full advantage of the battle system into the latter.

If you mash those two games together and patch out their respective weaknesses, I actually think you could wind up with a game worthy of the Final Fantasy name.'

Oh yeah... and add Miiverse to everything. :P

Heck no, meng! That game was torture to play through. Best to let it be forgotten at this point.

They can also just port FFXII and with two buttons and a new, all encompassing gambit system from town exploration to battle, you can just leave the game on and let it play itself with even more ease!

Think about it: Can't miss that important dinner date? Let WiiU clear that pesky dungeon while you SCORE.

Man Nintendo really missed a lot of opportunities here, lol.

Just a thought....

You could shift paradigms on the screen and stuff. Not gonna claim to have put a ton of thought into this one.

I liked the battle system as is. Its really a lot of fun, its just that the rest of the game fell flat.

Off-topic but I see no reason to not release HD collections on Wii U.

I bet many Nintendo fans would be thrilled to play FFX for example.

I would say FF14 would be way more interesting with the Gamepad.

YES!! Came here to say this too. FFXIV would be GREAT with the use of the gamepad. The Gameplay on FFXIV as of right now is GREAT with a controller and having the added screen on the gamepad would make browsing through quests, items, maps, invetory, etc a real breeze.

I would rather i never saw that game ever again

Could well be the most wasted money i have spend for a game in my life

Also the combat system got old fast, i prefer the old school approach for such games

Bravely Default for example is my most important JRPG since FF9 days

But seriously though, I don't see how the FFXIII experience could be enhanced by the gamepad.

I don't see how any games experience can be enhanced by it really, game design has already gone down the shitter and gimmicks like this don't help

Edit: Besides, you shouldn't be hoping for FFXIII, you should be looking forward to X. It's not a corridor.

Screw you guys. Its far past the time for me to care enough to write a ton about why, but lets just say not everyone thinks FFXIII was the flop everyone says it was.

And OP is right that the gamepad would be nice to quickly traverse some of those menus, but I think anyone who cares about FFXIII has gotten their fill for better or worse. Still you can sign me up for any other new fast paced active time battle jrpgs on the Wii U. That does sound like it could be a lot of fun.
