...when all the reports are based on the things that MS execs said.
While the analogy is definitely hyperbolic in this instance, Nazi Germany only happened because people just sat back and let it.
Nope. Didn't think it was new at all. I'm basing my comment on what Major Nelson said a couple days ago. This piece linked in the OP is just another editorial reaction that, right? Like Klepick's editorial?ITT: People who believe this editorial is reporting on a new statement by Microsoft blaming the media for the backlash to the reveal, which is totally untrue.

Who cares if it's new or old? They still did it. And fairly recently at that.ITT: People who believe this editorial is reporting on a new statement by Microsoft blaming the media for the backlash to the reveal, which is totally untrue.

That's not what the article is talking about. It's talking about one specific quote that doesn't really have anything to do with the broader coverage of the Xbox One, just specifically one policy (used games). Can someone point me to this negative mainstream coverage? Seriously everything I've seen has been pro - ms con - consumer.

What, i somehow missed this one. Got a link?-MS accidentally retweets sarcastic criticism of Xbone thinking it was genuinely positive.
Ah fair enough.Well, the title of the thread is the title of the article, not OP's fault.
Who cares if it's new or old? They still did it. And fairly recently at that.
Exactly. They aren't making all this stuff up.It's amazing. They really are out of touch. The media is only reporting what you've said and told them MS.
Boy, that's a shitty thread title. Again, MS is fucking up enough on their own. Don't take away from actual important discussions on their stupid proposed policies by making up sensationalistic stuff.
In fact, Angry Joe and his followers have gathered quite the pitchfork and torch crew informing any and everyone about the Xbox One's policies that strip you of your rights as a consumer!
What, i somehow missed this one. Got a link?
Why are you acting like you don't know? Please, I'd be interested in the quote where Microsoft blamed the media for the reaction to the Xbox One reveal.

Consumers aren't obligated to stroke Microsoft's ego just because they feel their product doesn't suck. Their whole attitude is like my wife's moronic brother, who when told he is being annoying, replies with "no, I'm not." Regardless of its features (see: restrictions) being good or bad, if nobody wants to own it it's a terrible product.
The market will chew this up and spit it out. Even casual gamers will get wind of this insane outrage eventually. They'll at least have friends of friends who read up on all that's going on, and the complaints will spread via the telephone game. That's actually worse than just advertising bad facts, because the spin will get more negative with each tale told. They may as well use Nickelback "songs" and Lance Armstrong in the Xbox One ads at this point...
-MS targets media with the reveal event.
-MS puts MS employees in the tent with them, and apparently were the only ones clapping.
-MS gives poor presentation and shows features/policies that (some) media dislike.
-most of media talk about how bad it is, and echo the same concerns gamers are expressing.
-MS tries to clarify position on controversial issues, but only makes things much worse.
-MS accidentally retweets sarcastic criticism of Xbone thinking it was genuinely positive.
-small portion of media treats Xbone like second coming of JFC without knowing final price or list of launch titles. speaks like PR. calls us jealous.
-Amazon cites Xbone as #1 wished for product, just like WiiU and Vita.
-MS turns off comments on their YT channel, potentially keeping important information from unaware viewers.

it's all the media's fault MS. keep telling yourself that. hell, put it in the official handbook for Gamestop employees for when they tell customers how the new trade in system works, and how when they buy the Xbone you have to have the all-seeing-eye connected at all times, and can't physically turn it off.
edit: can "the media" respond with a "#dealwithit" campaign to fire back at them?
ALSO ALSO: can we go ahead and flip the little switch in the General Gamer Consensus Control Room to officially dub MS as Arrogant now? it's past due, but there's really no denying it now.
When did this happen? Got any links?
And we just hit rock bottom folks.
It doesn't matter anymore, Microsoft are the new Nazi Party in most peoples eyes.
I posted the link 5 posts above you ;-) but here it is again :-When did this happen? Got any links?

That's what I thought too. Mainstream media isn't really digging deep on the details but then again that's not the story to them.Funny, it seems to me the media is being pretty tame.
They already know their answers, they're just trying to stay quiet until launch.
From Patrick Klepek:
. Since the details of those arrangements is clearly changing, the onus would be on Microsoft to make the coming changes abundantly transparent.
Microsoft didn't, and it wants to pretend it's not its fault.
The statement itself is a joke, too.
Reports about our policies for trade in and resale are inaccurate and incomplete.
Microsoft is the one who put its executives and representatives in front of the press earlier this week, and presented increasingly conflicted information. The problem has been getting anything remotely resembling a clear answer out of them. The press hasnt mangled Microsofts message, its that Microsoft has very little to say, and wants to point the blame at someone else with the wave of a hand. It won't work.
Sorry, Microsoft. Its your problem, not mine. Try a little honesty next time?
If he thinks MS is essentially putting the onus on the media, I'm not seeing how this isnt MS blaming the media without actually saying they are blaming them.
Some girl was saying something like "Finally, the thing I hate most about Television was so hard it was too use" and Microsoft proudly use it as a positive tweet. Fancy graph and all lol.
They already know their answers, they're just trying to stay quiet until launch.
Yeah, it's just kind of twisting it, and technically he doesn't blame the media, just that "incomplete and inaccurate information" is out there... which is very much Microsoft's own fault, to me it read more like the information is inconsistent and not fully relayed just yet. There HAS been some problems with the media, technically "anti-used" isn't correct as it really is more "anti-sharing", which to me actually sounds worse; plenty want to stick it to GameStop, but you tell them they can't give their game to a friend to play on their own account and most would make an immediate 180 (or so I'd hope.)This old Major Nelson statement apparently:
Thread title suggests there is some new MS statement, while there is not.
People just want to be enraged about the same thing over and over again. *shrug*
