I plan on keeping this thread open in a tab for the next 2 weeks and I will keep the twitter hashtags columns on tweetdeck for the next 2 weeks.

Don't disappoint me guys. Get the word out, don't give in. It's just 2 weeks until E3, surely we can let them know how we feel from now until E3 where they will need to give us an answer (if they want support anyway since people who want an answer probably won't pre-order a PS4 until they have one).

Keep it up guys!

Quite the opposite. Most of the people that care probably don't even know the PS4 exists yet. A HUGE amount of normal people are only able to afford games by buying them second hand. Think about it.

This is the correct answer. The casuals are more likely to rent/borrow/sell/buy used. This really affects families and will just give them another reason to buy the kids a tablet as a gaming device. I know those who love this grew up rich and never borrowed/traded/rented/sold or bought used as a kid to make becoming a gamer possible. All I know I sure the hell would not be a gamer if there was this kind of DRM when I was a kid. I did all the above coming from a lower middle class family. Then when I got a real job I spent like crazy on gaming. I have spent 10's of thousands on gaming in the last 17 years since my first real job. I would of not spent a dime if not for those used/rental/selling/trading/borrowing games. All this does if push the price of gaming out of range for the young and poor. It will kill the industry there is no doubt about it.

The people that trade games to the next new game aren't the ones that read forums.

They're the people who play a bit of Call of Duty multiplayer while their friends are in town but mostly just trade it in to the big January game.

Disagreed. The people who are on gaming forums spend all of their money on games and so they have to trade them in to get the next new game. Like myself.

Woke up to see this has really blown up and progressed. Even DRM is trending and I have just read an article by Kotaku about the matter. This has gone so well it's unreal, proof that nobody want this sort of crap.

I made this gif, Im not sure if it is crossing the line or just on the edge but I am posting it because I feel my intent is a lighthearted one. Im not into console wars nonsense and would make the same gif for an xbox hashtag.

Likewise, The only reason I picked this particular subject matter was because it appeared funny in my head. I think that if people can get away with all those jessica nigri gifs I can get away with this.

If its too far, just say and Illl remove it.

Let's hope one of the real MS higher ups takes notice. It's nice that Xbox support have seen the message but it means nothing sadly.

The thing about this one is, there are a fair few high(ish)-ranking SCE execs who use twitter regularly and it's easy to put these things in front of their face.

With Xbox your best options are PR mouthpiece Major Nelson, or just XBOX/XboxSupport and their eyes mean nothing.

The point of all this is that Sony might not implement it at all.

Developers and publishers want a piece of the resell revenue of games (right now Gamestop is getting 100% - reselling the same game mulitple times, which is lowering revenue for the people that made the game), there is no way Sony or MS go back on this.

Sorry. This campaign will not work for either team.

What might end up happening is that there is a resell activation fee on PS/XB online - so the reseller will have to lower the resell price by that amount (be it 5 or 10 dollars) to compensate for the online fee.

But that would imply that both the PS4 and XBO would have to be online to authenticate, which does not bode well for offline gamers (which are none of us posting here).

So they have to do their best to try and ruin the whole thing for everyone? Fuck them.

Yeah I don't get it either. They claim they're not participating but laughing at the side, yet they're trying to down voting the reddit thread. I mean I don't like reddit either but it does attract regular normal people, millions of people go to the site everyday and that can do some good in this cause I guess.

Because "let's epic troll reddit xDxD".

MS and Sony(especially Sony) need to just grow some balls and both say they are implementing the DRM. If people don't like it, they can go play mobile games, WiiU games, PC games or games from previous generations. The only people that care are the type to read forums, and I doubt 90% of them have the will to not buy either console if they go the DRM route.

It really makes no sense that one console will go that way and another won't. It's not just Sony and MS that want the DRM, so I don't see how MS would put themselves out there like that unless Publishers are planning on withholding games.

Horsemama go home.

We know, from insider info that Sony IS considering this RIGHT now. So what makes you qualified to state otherwise? I'd believe in the person I trust a bit more and fight for my rights before giving up, especially when we are getting feedback from higher ups about this.

Well, I've done my part.

This was a smart idea. It's always good when gamers voice their opinions in a calm and respectful manner towards the big publishers. That's part of why GAF is awesome.

And gamers should push back and make sure that these companies know that they have no right to a share of used sales. These games have been paid for, what the consumer does with it after is their business. You don't see Ford demanding a cut of that used car sale. It's bad enough companies like Sony have argued that we don't really own the systems we buy either, in their hacking/mod lawsuits. Next thing you know there will be a fee to reactivate a used console.
