It might just be a mistake, they maybe don't know what retweeting it means? Lost in translation maybe?

Wonder if they will end up in hot water because of it, it's definitely the most concrete stance we have gotten so far

Very possibly, and i doubt these guys know anything anyway. Finland of all places. And it'll just be the social media team.

But even so

I give a shit.

Ive got a simple question for people who talk this EULA nonsense. If I dont own a game and only the license, why do I have to buy a new copy if it breaks? As licensee, I should be entitled to a free replacement any time my software leaves my possession for any reason.

CONGRATULATIONS! With Xbone's model you will.

If DRM is necessary, here's a perfect example of making DRM Developer/Publisher specific so we know who to avoid while buying games.

Isn't Cliff on GAF? I swear I've seen people get banned for talking shit on devs and journalists that have GAF accounts, even if the shit talking is deserved.

I think leaving it up to the publishers is the best we can hope for but at least that way we can boycott the ones using DRM crap and support those who doesn't, like CD Project.

You know. I've never thought of that. Maybe that's why you're legally allowed to backup your games.

I'm really glad this is gaining traction, however I will agree that had Sony decided on "not going with this" before this campaign has started, that publicly embracing the fans then announcing the plans they've already reached will score them major PR points for free. Honestly though, at this point into the game I think they deserve it.

I agree, they may or may not have been thinking about doing this before this shitstorm with microsoft happened, but if they quash it right now then they will be in a great position.

On the other hand though, if they stick with any of these online drm/no used games plans then they will be in a very very bad position.

It seems like publishers don't want to look like the bad guy. They want Sony and MS to take all the heat while they get off looking spotless. Just look at EA and how they dropped their online pass while saying that they listened to what fans wanted. Then we hear this bullshit and everything becomes clear.

Of course you aren't, what gave you that impression? You are only entitled to things that you and the other party agreed to at the time of purchase unless there are laws that state otherwise

I'm sure he's aware. Like others have said, this hashtag campaign will only stress the urgency of what they already know: gamers don't want DRM. Sony has seen the backlash against the Xbox One, and they're weighing their choices very carefully right now. If the money they'll lose over a DRM PR disaster is more than they'll make using DRM, then they won't go with it. This campaign is definitely helping to tip the scales.

I hope you're right here.

I always thought that GAF loved Cliffy B. but I don't know, I just don't like the guy.

If some more recent threads over the last year or so about the guy is to judge off of, I don't think that much of GAF likes the guy that much.

Well we musn't forget that Sony started the PS3 with gamesharing that allowed it between 5 PS3's and even Jack Tretton using it as a great feature saying something along the lines of 'you can share the games with 4 friends'. Couple of years later it was reduced to 2 PS3's (although I can understand why because gamesharing was getting out of hand).

I wasn't being smug, or sarcastic with that reply, I was actually speculating.

Fair enough, my apologies.

I think it's interesting how some pubs/devs or in other mediums - artists will be against DRM even though most assume they would be for it. It shows the complexity of the issue from both sides.

If both Ms and Sony do the same, they will all be in the same position. It's not like Wiiu will suddenly come to the top.

This this this. They have no idea what it means to re-tweet it.

The account is definitely legit, it's the official Playstation Finland twitter account.

This is a great question.

im not really a fan of his "im a total dude" attitude ... always came across as a arrogant t***

Cliff is a "total dude" at his own convenience. It's funny how quick he is to revert to some EULA barb, as if "total dudes" would actually give half a shit about that when they trade in their games, let their friends borrow games, or even just give their games away.

It's even more strange that Penny Arcade would be trying to tell me DRM is good, when they have that whole Child's Play charity they like to champion.

Also, you can expect Cliffy's next game to be tied to Microsoft again because it's pretty damn obvious that he's turned into a homer and an apologist for that company.

Don't be a dillweed. Like Jaffe and a number of other developers that have spoken up about this in the past, the reason they don't like used games is that they imagine their 80 hour weeks and then imagine half the profits from the resulting product going into GameStop's cash pile, while they have to lay off their own staff, 80 hour work weeks or not.

I'm not saying that's a fair assessment of the situation by them, but it's coming from genuine concern, not shilling for MS or anyone else.

why dont we do #SteamNoDRM as well?

At least Gabe has come out and said on the record that if shit ever hits the fan, and Steam is no more, your games would be available for you to download indefinitely.

There is no reassurance with MS, or Sony with digital games. They need to clear the air by E3 at least.
