:lolThat's nice Junior, maybe when you grow up you can go make a thread about it and leave us alone.
Mark my words guys, FM5 will just be an upscaled FM4 with the lighting from the homespaces finally getting it's way into the actual races.
So, what do people prefer, night racing or weather?

Depends on the genre imo. Night for Arcade racers and Weather simulations for racing sims.
I'd like to see games such as Forza with changing weather effects while racing. At first it may be a little cloudy and later at a random point in the race it could start raining. That would be cool.
Nah, don't block him... any junior who has 100% of their posts in a thread dedicated to a series that he doesn't even like has to come up with some pearlers eventually.Another troll for the block list.
So the footage pretty much confirms No-time of day and No-weather. Dem static shadows, the infinite power of the cloud. GT5 is still technically superior.
Static lighting. It says it all.
But at least the cars don't look like plastic anymore and have windshields.

mascot... stop hurting us. you know this is not going to happen.
but it sounds so... beautiful
If weather is achievable, so is daylight changes.
We will get either both or nothing. Main problem is resources and planning it so every track can acutally have them. That is the real issue.
If I had to choose (I DON'T HAVE TO CHOOSE, DO I?!) then I'd take weather every time.
Night is good for a change, but adds little to the actual gameplay (unless broken headlights come into play - was it Shift 2 did this?). Day/night transitions are nicer, but again it's mainly a purely visual change unless track temperatures drop accordingly and affect aspiration, grip etc.
Weather however opens up a whole plethora of variables that can add so much more unpredictability to the racing. Static weather conditions are all well and good (eg a totally wet race) but surely it's dynamic variable weather that we should be expecting from next-gen hardware now. The possibilities are very exciting:
- sudden downpours on dry tracks leading to mad scrambles to the pits for tyre changes
- standing water and aquaplaning (YES I KNOW, SHANEUS!)
- localised showers so only part of a track is wet
- wet tracks drying out over time leading to decisions when best to pit
- dry racing line, wet off-line
- mist and fog patches on low-lying parts of the track
- blustery cross winds on exposed areas of the track
- black ice
- thunderstorms turning bright days into much darker, almost night-like conditions
- glare from wet tarmac
- etc etc etc
We have the hardware power now to do variable weather justice, not just from the physics side of things but also graphically: no hits on framerate performance and totally believable visuals.
I want to see the Lamborghini Sesto Elemento and the La Ferrari in Forza 5.
ot: Is it normal that I had to wait over 2 weeks for account activation?

I think for that to make sense the races would need to be longer than 2-3 laps.
Man, I keep forgetting about this. In terms of that casualness I was referring to before, I think this is what I was trying to think of but couldn't put my finger on it. 3 lap races in career mode (that cannot under any circumstances be adjusted) is borderline ridiculous. And I think that the only way you can do more is by setting up a multiplayer game with all AI? I don't know, I never did it.Yeah, regardless of weather or TOD I'd love it if all FM races were a 5-lap minimum. Your tyres are barely warm after two laps.

wow, 8 months/2 years...that's...long xD

Depending on track obviously5 laps on the nurburgring in hummer spec series :|
It wouldn't be so bad if races had a semi random weather condition but Enduros (if we even get them back) should have dynamic weather and time of day.
Yeah sorry, I should have qualified it that races should be around 7 minutes long as a bare minimum. 3-minute 2-lappers are just annoyingly pointless.
Yeah, that is unusual.
Unusually quick, you lucky bastard.
I had to wait over two fucking years..!
Wat. I waited 8 months back in the old days![]()
oh i dont doubt that weather effect are realizable. i already expect them to be ingame. but its mascots vision that we dream of.
reality will be more like "apply physic wet" / "apply physic dry" for the whole track :/
Edit
had to wait 6 - 12 months... cant remember
Mine was certainly upwards of 6 months.![]()
I just had to read and no take part in the fun threads.

So:
Step 1: Bullshots, CG, yadda, yadda...
Step 2: (confirmed in-engine). Looks like crap
Step 3: Will just be upgraded FM4, GT6 looks better (even though no gameplay has been seen from that game either)
Do people actually feel threatened by games they never intend on playing?
Anyone else getting seriously needy for some FM5 news?
I know E3 is only a couple of weeks away but come on, Helios, throw us a frikkin' bone here. Che would have been teasing some obscure clues or juicy titbits by now like, you know, community managers do. Get on to The Bearded One and see what we can have. Something... anything!
PS stop pretending you haven't seen this post, we know you are lurking!
Don't make me bust out Saladine's Homer bush gif...

its more like they have the urge to protect the decisions they made. i am saying it again: ideologists
I know it's nitpicking, but any idea what's going on with the buildings in the background? Best I can tell, they've gone for the faux-environment thing as per some Autovista locations, where the straight road in this shot is real, but past that it's just a 2D texture.i said that in the other thread, but

these shadows scream global dynamic lighting to me.

I can't tell (and like I said, I'm not trying to pick on it) exactly what's wrong, but it's definitely bugging me.
Is that an official screen, or from the trailer?
True. But I don't feel the need to constantly disparage the choice I didn't make.
There's absolutely nothing wrong with being a fanboy. Being enthusiastically for something you like/enjoy. But it seems that a very vocal faction on this forum has descended to something sad and frustratingly annoying:
They get more "enjoyment" out of constantly posting negativity about what they don't like or the choice they didn't make. Namely, the console they didn't choose. They post just as much if not more in threads associated with the console they seemingly despise.
I personally don't get this. But c'est la vie.
I will try not to reply to them though because they seem to want to disrupt threads and getting into back and forths with them do just that.
Open wheel.
Weather.
Daylight changes.
All promised, postponed due to lack of resources or lack of power. No more excuses.
Dealt with it in FM3. Wasn't fun at all. I like the track and think it was a big improvement on the short track(though I still prefer FM1's New York Long), but I didn't enjoy racing on it, just like I dont enjoy racing on the Nurburgring.Even so.....if Turn10 did ONE thing right with Forza 4.....it was leaving the New York Circuit out the game. I absolutely HATE that track. For no reason should it ever return. Can you imagine the casuals with those chicanes?
That was my go-to track for just messing around. I miss it, too. That track with next-gen graphics would be ridiculous.Played some Forza 3 yesterday, Positano was far better than I remembered it.
Deffo want to see it return for F5.
