Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | May 2013 | Lovecraftian Wasteland

Namco Bandai doesn't localize Vita games. We've seen that to be the case with the Tales remakes. The only version of GE2 to get localized would be a potential 3DS one.

Toukiden is already confirmed for localization on PSV. I was just saying I'd expect a console version to pop up eventually.

Can we stop with this doomsday bullshit ?

Ragnarok Odyssey sold around 200k copies in the west and it wasn't even released psychially in Europe.
Tales on PS3 don't even move 100k in the west so no wonder they didn't try to localize Vita versions.

I really don't see why the vita version of god eater 2 should be japanese only, at max we have to wait for the burst version.

Dynasty warriors next is still vita exclusive and even if toukiden will be ported to ps3(ps4 is too much) it will be after a long time, so i don't see the problem.

If i remember correctly you were almost sure about the lack of localization of toukiden right? Well... just don't become the new pacther ok? ;)

I'd rather be wrong about these things than right about them. I just don't like seeing this:

Not yet but i'm 99% sure it will be localized.

Since it's far from true.

Is it really being a doomsday sayer, or just being realistic? Ragnarok Odyssey, Soul Sacrifice, and even Toukiden all have native online multiplayer modes. God Eater 2 does not. It's local only, and on a platform that's selling as well as Vita is, in a market like North America/Europe that's a death sentence.

Tales games sell like shit in the west, but I wouldn't be surprised if the localizations did better than GE's.

Wait, did anyone doubt that we'd get it? Tecmo-Koei has been one of Vita's stalwarts as far as localization goes - if we got something as niche as Atelier Plus (even if digital only), we'd definitely get that generic crowd pleaser of multiplayer action game.

Atelier Plus has a PS3 localization to use. Toukiden did not. Tecmo Koei shied away from localizing their Japanese oriented Vita games, and Toukiden felt like another. I put it into the Ciel No Surge, Nobunaga's Ambition, RotK and the horse racing bracket of TK's Vita support.

I see, guess Atelier wasn't that risky after all. Thanks for dropping dat knowledge :-D

And jeebus, I wasn't aware that GE2 lacked online play. Even Monster Hunter has that now...Monster Hunter.

Freedom Wars looked to fill that gap for a while until it became evident it's another Soul Sacrifice as far as narrative depth goes. What I most liked about God Eater Burst was that the single player wasn't just an afterthought - I hope GE2 and its sexy rim lighting make its way to NA, online or not I guess.

Now that gaf hype has died down a little would you( yes you random vitamuffin) recommend it in your top 5 games for the system?

How about a question with a twist folk:

Your top 5 games on Vita that you enjoy without its multiplayer component.

I mean, I want to buy Most Wanted but its strong dependence--in my perception, at least--on its multiplayer aspect held me back.

Stuff like Persona 4 Golden, etc etc, though not necessarily have to be RPG. I am looking for them.

NFS: Most Wanted can absolutely be a blast by yourself. I've been playing solely single player up until now and I absolutely love it. I did the same with Burnout Paradise. Sure, it's more fun with others but eh, whatever works for you :P

My top 5 are:

Persona 4 Golden

Persona-4-Golden-Splash-Image2.jpg

Gravity Rush

Need For Speed: Most Wanted

DJ MAX Technika Tune

Soul Sacrifice

Edit: That DW: Next screenshot is gorgeous. IQ in that game is that good?? Ugh. So torn between getting that or Sonic Racing first.. I'm still leaning towards Sonic.

Native res + 4xAA, it's one of the best looking vita games ;)

Since it's far from true.

Far from true for what reason? For this?

God Eater 2 does not. It's local only, and on a platform that's selling as well as Vita is, in a market like North America/Europe that's a death sentence.

God eater 1 was localized and all the portable monster hunter games except the future 4 have no online. Don't be ridiculous.

You act as though Vita is anywhere near as successful as PSP was.

Was any of GE1's DLC localized? If the answer's no we'll know how "well" it did in the west.

Yes, the game really does look that good. Tecmo Koei is using some sort of magic in their Vita games.

I remember Namco not being sure about whether God Eater 2 will have online, saying 'there's no online multiplayer yet'.

Probably just them being nice, though, and it will probably ship without it.

Well, there's free DLC on the EU store. I dunno if that counts, though.

Just for accuracy's sake - Ragnarok Odyssey did not have online mulitplayer at launch in Japan, it was added later with a patch. And the fact that it would get online wasn't revealed until two weeks before launch.

So you admit that you think that vita is doomed, like all the nintendo fanboys that thinks that the number of games is directly proportional only to consoles sales.
Sorry but you are just wrong, there is a lot more.

PS:
i downloaded the geb dlcs from vita, so just stop being ridiculous.

Speaking of GEB a new DLC is coming next week (yes NEW DLC).
If that comes out to the West then that may be a sign of localization...

Dragon's Crown is offering DLC voice overs (select your story narration voice from the playable characters) to everyone for free during the game's first month.

Awful, this should be on card/disc and permanently free, Atlus is really horrible and becoming a shit publisher these days.

Everyone is responding to this as if it's a call for a top 5 list, but it sounds to me like you're asking if a specific game would be in your top 5?

Oh I never even noticed that. Well, him not being specific was why it was misconstrued. It could have been anything, lol.

Edit: Anddddd. You didnt even ask for this.

I see the trend of people misreading heckmanimation's post still continues. The power of cognitive dissonance, hehehehe.

I still don't get what was the game heckmanimation was talking about though :D

loved that some of you picked up on this...

OK! - i roused from my slumber this morning and noticed I messed up my question completely in my delirious "going-to-bed" state last night. I definitely didn't intend for people to give me a top 5 - so thanks for that - was a good refresher actually, don't think there has been one recently and a handful of games have come out this spring that fit into peoples "new" top 5...funny enough you providing your top 5 still answered my question - which actually was "now that the hype has died down is SOUL SACRIFICE worthy of being a top 5 recommendation?"

now because ya'll were so nice to list top 5 games and i love vitagaf ( and really who doesn't love data and stats) - I'll post the tally up to this point (forgive the abbreviated names) and am not posting games with 1 vote.

"now that the hype has died down is SOUL SACRIFICE worthy of being a top 5 recommendation?"

Funny, I missed that/glossed over it because everyone started listing their favorites. I've only played through about a third of the game but I love it. Excellent PQ and IQ, awesome combat and I keep wanting to play it more. I really hope for a meatier sequel, but yes I think it's worth being in the top 5.

There are a lot of indie games that I love like Sound Shapes, but I don't think they're in my top 5, nor are they really system sellers for me.

Yes, Takao the Nintendo fanboy ...

Based on your gaming tastes I get the feeling you'd be a lot happier posting in the 3DS thread than you are here. Just imo.

Any idea on why I can't access the video store from my US account?

It's IP restricted, only works if you're in the US.

I'm not voting, I haven't played enough games of worth (sorry but Men's Room Mayhem is not a worthy game).

It's really not. Charming presentation but the game has some serious issues. Glad it was less than a dollar.

Hmmmmm.......

Now my interest is really piqued. If you can only choose one though, between this and DJ MAX, which one will you pick? Because the latter interest me as well.

DJMAX Technika Tune is a great game and I enjoy it a lot, but it's still something that would've been better suited as a phone game (or even better, as a tablet game). They did do a cool thing with the back touchpad though, which could not be possible elsewhere.

With that said, I would recommend Project Diva f over DJMAX TT any day. That game is a blast. Don't let the fact that it's in Japanese discourage you from getting it!! The game is really easy to figure out, the only thing that's too complex to handle without knowing Japanese is the Edit Song editor, which is absolutely not necessary to fully enjoy the game.

Here's a quick menu reference:

Also the Project Diva wikia has lots of other useful info about the game:

My top 5:
1. Persona 4:Golden
2. Super Stardust Delta
3. Uncharted: Golden Abyss
4. Playstation All-Star battle Royale
5. Touch My Katamari

Top 5 to be released:
1. FFX HD
2. Jak & Daxter HD collection
3. Killzone: Mercenary
4. Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate
5. Flower

Can someone please convince me to NOT buy totori +? I have just charged 50€ and i don't want to spend 40€ just for a game that is not even in offer! :(
I always wanted to try the atelier games, but i don't really know if they are for me and i would like to wait for a sale!
Next week there will be new offers right? Tell me to wait! STOP ME SOMEHOW!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey, I'm more of a lurker in this thread (and the forum in general), but for the record:

1. Persona 4 Golden
2. Gravity Rush
3. Ragnarok Odyssey (Seriously, did no one mention this game?)
--- Separator for the top 3 being far and away the ones I enjoyed the most on my Vita ---
4. Little Big Planet Vita
5. Soul Sacrifice

I know that the general consensus appears to be that soul sacrifice is better than Ragnarok Odyssey, but to me I enjoyed Ragnarok Odyssey's focus on aerial combat and learning the use of specific weapon sets more than Soul Sacrifice's magic. Also, while the assets in Soul Sacrifice are more technically impressive, I found myself enjoying Ragnarok Odyssey's more colourful atmosphere more. I will grant that Soul Sacrifice's story is much better on every level however.

Looking forward I'm going to be getting Dragon Crown, Ys Celceta, FFX/FFX-2 HD and Ragnarok Odyssey Ace (all of which have equal priority in my eyes). I just wish there were some SRPGs on the vita right now (besides PSP psn and Disgaea, I just can't stand Disgaea...).

save your money. put it towards muramasa and whatever e3 games get announced.

im not too familiar but i doubt they will be many sales with this game. maybe itll drop its price occasionally 5-10$. or if you wait you can get it used.

you could also get it and if you don't like it trade/sell it out.

3. Ragnarok Odyssey (Seriously, did no one mention this game?)

it only got 1 vote - you are the 2nd.

i was actually shocked Hot shots golf wasn't higher as well. it too only got 1 vote. if i voted it would have had two but i opted out of listing my top 5.

Tales games sell like shit in the west, but I wouldn't be surprised if the localizations did better than GE's.

Then we might see Burst version with online as a worst case scenario.

Also number of consoles sold is meaningless - PSP games were selling like shit due to astronomical piracy ratio.

P3P, Dissidia2 and many others never even charted in UK top 40 when they were released despite userbase 10 or 15 times higher at that time.

It might be just more people buying SS on this forum. I know I didn't like RO demo too much and had some issues with it so i not wanted to risk 30 euros for digital only version of something i might not like.

funny enough you providing your top 5 still answered my question - which actually was "now that the hype has died down is SOUL SACRIFICE worthy of being a top 5 recommendation?"

Yes.
For me, it's easily the best game on the platform and the reason I own a Vita.

With the boss packs coming out at a steady rate, and for free, it will have a place on my memory card for the indefinite future -- and I still play it even though I've already platinumed the game.

And just to weigh in, now that you're done counting, top 5 Vita games, in no real order:

Soul Sacrifice
Guacamelee
WipEout 2048
Gravity Rush
LBP Vita

Top 5 I'm hyped for (if I can think of 5):
Muramasa
Killzone Mercenary
Dragon's Crown
Velocity Ultra
Y's Celcetta

i wish I hadn't wasted 400 megs, or whatever, for that voice over pack. I don't think i can delete it without deleting the game first, can I?

I think you can, if you go into settings > application data management... maybe. Edit: Nope, that only lists the DLC for some reason... useless. o_O

But according to some, if you have saved after installing it, the save file will look for it.

I've used the Japanese voices since day 1 since I couldn't stand the narrator, so it's worth a 400mb hit to me. :)

i might just restart the game

I really want something though :(

I spent all day trying to think of my top 5, and came up with nothing. I can't decide what to cut. The only game I'm pretty sure is a lock would be the MGS collection. I think.

I'm shit at making lists.

I wasn't planning on participating in that top 5 thing but since someone's actually keeping score now, might as well add my voice:

(alphabetical order)
- BlazBlue: Continuum Shift Extend
- DJMAX Technika Tune
- Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA f
- Persona 4 Golden (as if it needed more votes lol)
- Sound Shapes

Namco Bandai doesn't localize Vita games. We've seen that to be the case with the Tales remakes. The only version of GE2 to get localized would be a potential 3DS one.

Toukiden is already confirmed for localization on PSV. I was just saying I'd expect a console version to pop up eventually.

im like 5 hours late for this.... but using the tales remakes of an example why a non tales game wouldn't get localized is like showing a video of a wolf eating a rabbit and talking about lion eating habits, aka pretty much pointless to bring up.

there was never a senerio where those tales remakes got localized, never. They could have sold 100 million copies each in japan, and there could be 500 million vita world wide and there still wasn't a chance in hell those remakes were getting localized. The hand held tales games have never done well for namco in english, and they didn't have a previous localization to just rip and apply thus a case like tales of the abyss 3ds wasn't happening.

That all being said I don't feel it's likely at this point that namco brings over GE2, if they do though it would be coming with online play as they made it clear that while it doesn't have online play right now, it's still very much a possibility.
