You forgot Jon. And also essentially Sansa is no longer a Stark in a sense. Don't see much story for her in all honesty. Maybe she'll redeem herself, but in have a feeling since she's now Lady Lannister, she'll come to love Tyrion or something.

I suspect that when she finds out what happened, she will either kill Tyrion or make a play for killing one of the othee Lannisters (my hope is Joffery).

What are you talking about? I've read the books, but I'm also super sensitive to not spoiling one god damn thing to anyone who wants to straight up watch the show. Just because a handful of dumbasses have spoiled things in here doesn't make everyone else who has read the books some sort of criminal. I still have the right to come in here and discuss show events if I want to. I think it's a crime for anyone to spoil any one small thing to you guys in here, and I genuinely feel bad for anyone who has been spoiled. But for Christ's sakes, don't make me or anyone else out to be some sort of evil menace whose only goal is to ruin your enjoyment of the show. That couldn't be farther from the truth. I also deserve to post in this thread just as much as anyone else in here. It's still fun to post gifs or funny pictures or just simply discuss who is hotter: Oona or Emilia. Hell, I bet most of the people who spoil others are simply people who haven't even read the books and simply just look it up on a wiki.

What you guys probably need in here are more people who have read the books that can moderate and ban the morons who do actually post spoilers.

Who's making you out to be a menace? I was just warning people who might have missed Bish's message because the thread is moving so fast. Tension is high, and if some folks can't contain themselves, then it's best they just go to the other thread than stay here is risk upsetting people/getting banned.

Now if you're not one of those people and have no interest in teasing or spoiling people, then stay. And that goes to any other book readers. I'm not a mod and have no power to keep you out. But don't get accusatory and try to make it out like I'm trying to turn you into some pariah just by trying to be helpful and offering advice.

last time a show wrecked me this much...i dunno

maybe that time with [FAIRLY MASSIVE THE SHIELD SPOILERS]
like, this I don't fucking get. I kinda get book readers coming in here and implying stuff or mentioning stuff that supposedly happened in the show only to have it turn out that it didn't, whatever. this book apparently makes people unable to read an OP at times, that's whatever. but why spoil a different goddamn show. what's up w/u. edit your post
You have HBO on demand, but not HBOGO?

All the episodes are on HBOGO.

Yeah seriously I'm trying to figure out how someone can have access to season 2 on streaming but not 1...I'm guessing this person just doesn't realize that they do have 1.
KILL ALL THE LANNISTERS MOTHERFUCKING FUCKING FUCK

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

:'(
Except Tyrion, of course

Thank you! As a reader, the people on the spoiler thread are having more boring discussions than here. I still feel very excited about these series and I align myself better in this thread

I didn't forsee Rob Stark succeeding in taking Casterly Rock as the season is almost over and didn't forsee another big battle happening at the end like season 2. Also, Lord Bolton was a traitor and would/had told Tywin about Stark's plans.

But very shocking to have everyone killed in that manner by that weasel Frey.
Who is going to be able to challenge the Lannisters now, other than Targaryen. But how much longer is it going to take her to get to Westeros.

The White Walkers might give everyone in Westeros a run for their money and who knows how long the alliance between the Lannisters and the Tyrells will last

........Jon.

He doesn't count, he's a bastard ;p

Honestly forgot him, the name Snow throws me off.

Apart from Arya I don't really care about any of them either. That entire family is now dead to me.

I haven't decided whether to migrate over to Team Dany or Team Stannis yet. Dany is pretty BA and has the highest probability of burning Casterly Rock, King's Landing, and the Twins to the ground, so I'm leaning that way. Then again, given her family's track record and my fragile emotional state...

I like Bran and Arya, Bran being the mature leader and Arya being the dark avenger is a really nice contrast. Not sure how to feel about Rickon, he's not been developed enough yet. I don't hate Sansa but she does annoy me. I don't care about Jon, never have. I honestly like Sam more then him.

I'm either Team Tyrion or Team Dany at the moment. I also wouldn't mind Varys getting the throne, that would be an interesting twist.

I suspect that when she finds out what happened, she will either kill Tyrion or make a play for killing one of the othee Lannisters (my hope is Joffery).

Seriously though Sansa better do something after hearing the news of what happened, she literally is living with the very family that destroyed hers.

No. Stop being a bunch of whining babies. This forum is not about segregation. Having a thread where there are specifically no book spoiler discussions is a luxury. Moderation has been fair, and a few dicks who like to be annoying doesn't make everyone who has read the books unwelcome in this thread. Don't try to beat your war drums just because a few people have been banned. Cut the drama, take a cold shower, and go lie down and relax.

Book readers are welcome in this thread as long as they follow the rules. Lots of friendly book readers want nothing more than to discuss the show with people who are watching stuff for the first time. No need to be a dick about it. If book readers are dicks about it, they get banned. This isn't some war between threads.

Understood.

Consider it dropped.

Basically it boils down to Jon and three kids who carry the Stark name/hopes going forward. I have a feeling quiet little Rickon will be the best Stark in the end. But who knows. Anything is game in GRRM's world apparently.

That's my feeling about him too. So far a lot of my feelings have been right. Also, even though the moral if the story right now seems to be "The bad guys always win. Good guys suck." I think it's too early to call what GRRM is really telling here. If all it was was a sadistic fantasy from this point on, I think it'd be a pretty shit story TBH.

S-someone.... Just... Hold me please. I can't anything else this week and it's only Sunday.

I need a hug too, bro. Bring it in. There's no shame.

This is pretty much how these threads have been treated since season 1.

How is someone popping in for the first time going to know that? The OP doesn't tell people not to mention "I've read the books". It says not to spoil things or be a dick.

Exactly.

And also what PopcornMegaphone said.

Anyway, off to bed for me. G'night.

God this crap with Daenerys is going to backfire so hard.
FIRSTLY she extremely disappointed friendzone Jorah who thought she would be proud of them. Upsetting Jorah is a no-no.
SECONDLY look at how little she knows about shit that actually matters! "uh derrr how long dos it taek to seize a city its bin moore than 3 hours and we sent 3 men in it shud be done by now"
THIRDLY she just went along with Ser Douchebag not so subtly accusing Jorah of being suspicious, instead of realizing Jorah has protected her and helped her and stood by her for the better part of a year. But Ser Douchebag is secksay so let's listen to him.

Stupid child.

SPOILER RULES:

- ABSOLUTELY NO BOOK SPOILERS. It doesn't matter if they're under spoiler tags, they should not be in this thread. Use the other thread for book-related television discussion. This includes alluding to things, subtle hinting, comparing the books to the show, etc...

- Regular TV thread rules apply:
  • Once something airs in the US on the East Coast, it's fair game. Feel free to discuss anything that has aired without using spoiler tags.
  • Anything that hasn't aired yet should be spoiler tagged including information from HBO previews, loglines, trailers, interviews, and a few other places.
  • Speculation from people that haven't read the books is fine and encouraged.

- For the non-book readers using this thread:
  • If you have any questions about plot points or want clarification on something, feel free to send a PM to any of the helpful volunteers (see below) and ask them.
  • If you're curious about how things unfolded differently the book, please use the other thread.

- For the book readers that want to lurk in this thread:
  • No taunting or teasing:
e.g. "Oh, just wait until you guys see what happens to him next week!!!"
  • No leading questions:
e.g. "What do you think will happen to this character by the end of the season?"
  • No comparing the book to the show:
e.g. "Well, that's different than in the book where they..."
  • Answering questions is fine when the information is readily available from what has aired on the show.
e.g. Q: "Wait, how is Robb related to Ned?" A: "Robb is Ned's son."

If you want to get some answers to something, PhoenixPause and timetokill have volunteered to answer questions via PM. Feel free to PM myself as well.

The bottom line is that this thread was created for people that haven't read the books to enjoy and discuss the television show. Keep their interests in mind and let them enjoy the show on their own terms without constantly pestering them. In general, there isn't a good reason for book readers to post in this thread. Thanks for your help.

All in good fun but understood.

Let's all get some sleep instead.

I own the books....I think I know what I'm doing next Monday after I recover from the season finale.........videogames be damned, I'm reading

There's kind of a big learning curve involved in becoming a queen. I don't blame her a bit for learning as she goes along.

So the Hound and Arya become a mercenary tag team wandering the hills and fucking up Lannisters, right? I'm really not sure how to read their interactions this episode. It seemed like they reached a sort of understanding, and I'm not sure why Clegan (I have no idea how to spell it) would rescue Arya from certain doom. He has to know that with the Bad JuJu that was going down Arya has become practically worthless in terms of ransom or reward. So why save her from a grisly end?

And did Jon Snow intentionally knock the redhead over? They were about to attack and Jon elbowed her down, but he didn't seem to notice. Was that to keep her from getting involved/captured/murdered because he knew she'd side with him? If not, then why?

It's really puzzling. Especially when you consider that he just ditched her without even a glance back. I never thought he'd be that cold, but I guess his name should've given it away.

And for the people who don't know the rules, read the OP.

To add to this first line in the thread:

Since we have other threads for the show specifically for people who have read the series, I'd like to ask that they refrain from posting in this thread. I don't believe anybody has been deliberately posting spoilers under the guise of working things out, but it can be easy to forget where you learned a specific bit of information, especially if you read it a long time ago or started reading just after you got into the series. Then again, maybe some people are doing it deliberately. Please be considerate.

Sorry if I appeared to be singling you out. That wasn't my attention. I was just mainly referring to those in here with the sentiments of "if you read the books then you aren't allowed in here so GTFO!"

And yeah, it's even more amplified right now because of the big events in the show. I think Bish is emotionally compromised!

I hugged my dog after the Grey Wind scene... Don't know why. Plus Cat's death hit me hardest though. That like minute where she is pleading with them to let her son go.

She thinks Arya, Bran, Rickon are dead. Ned is dead. Winterfell is burned and Sansa is captive at Kings Landing. Robb is her first born child, first son and heir. She's watching the death of her entire life there just pleading him to get up and leave. Just hits you like a ton of bricks when you rewatch it.

Same goes for the Talisa and baby Ned Stark death. GRRM and the show creators purposely did all that teach him how to ride a horse talk and bam, stabbed like 6 times in the stomach.

I think he likes her spirit and feels bad for her.........and deep down wants to get revenge on Joffrey

My opinion on tonight's episode: No one to blame but Rob, unlike good ol' Ned whose fate wasn't really his own making. Also, /r/GameOfThrones is pretty crazy right now. My favorite post there at the moment is this:

I was confused on that. The three of them went in, but wasn't her comment about sacking the city supposedly after they'd opened the front gates and let the rest of the soldiers in?

I assume so, I think after they were surrounded they convinced the slave soldiers to throw down their weapons and then open the gate and the unsullied did the work

Just finished watching the episode.

I knew something big was going to happen as there's now a thread dedicated to the reactions from the episode (lol), but I wasn't sure exactly what until about halfway through.

I figured that one of the Starks wouldn't make it for sure, but that was pretty brutal. I also expected Arya to witness the massacre, but it's a good thing that she didn't. I'm guessing that she's going to become a hard motherfucker after this.

Regardless of what people think, Tywin is a boss. I liked his character before, but this has pretty much elevated him to God status in my books. He's ruthless and brutal, but he knows exactly what he's doing. There's a reason the Lannisters have so much success.

Just watched it again and goddamn, I didn't think it could happen but it was worse the second time around. Last time I almost cried in the bathroom, this time I was sitting on the couch and had a tear fall

Either way, it shows she is inexperienced at actually doing stuff besides telling her dragons to burn people.
She will slip up eventually. And it will not be pretty.

Seriously though Sansa better do something after hearing the news of what happened, she literally is living with the very family that destroyed hers.

all she had to do at her wedding was what her mother did... when Joffrey was walking her down the aisle... :/ I was like just snap his neck please..

Also something I noticed.. in ep 8 the scene when Joffrey went up to Sansa and said something like it doesn't matter which Lannister does the dean (gets her pregnant) then he said he would have his guards hold her down... seems like he was implying he knows he is a Lannister.. not sure...

I know that feel. RIP Lady and Grey Wind. :(

As brutal as the other killings were my girlfriend and I both felt worse when the wolf died. Right in the feels.

Not sure of her name, but the actress who played Cat deserves an Emmy for that episode.

She was phenomenal. The sheer terror on her face, watching her son and his forces massacred right before her.

I'm glad she managed to cut that girl's throat, I know the girl was harmless but it still felt like a "fuck you" to Walder Frey.

Great. I come into a GoT thread and get TDKR spoiled for me.

Not sure if trolling (I think you are), but it's almost been a whole year. You can't be serious lol.

As brutal as the other killings were my girlfriend and I both felt worse when the wolf died. Right in the feels.

It's almost humorous how much more people care about the pets/animals haha. But it's true! They're just too innocent. :(

Why did she have to name the baby Eddard, seriously, of all the names. That's worse than any leech curse. Guaranteed the god of the seven looked down at that point and just started guffawing. Just outright belly laughing.

all she had to do at her wedding was what her mother did... when Joffrey was walking her down the aisle... :/ I was like just snap his neck please..

Hell I'm still mad at Sansa for not pushing Joffrey/taking him with her off the bridge thing when he was showing her Ned's head on a spike. Damn it sansa!

Seriously though Sansa better do something after hearing the news of what happened, she literally is living with the very family that destroyed hers.

What can she do really, she a hostage who's family are branded as traitors and living with people who would not care about killing her just waiting for a excuse. One false step and a story can be weaved to make it seem ok to kill her to general public. Sansa has done well to survive this long by being "smart" and she knows how valuable she is now as heir to Winterfell and The North.

My case of insomnia just got a whole lot worse. I can't stop thinking about this episode. I've never been depressed over an event in a show before...until tonight. :(

#TeamWhiteWalkers

My room has been eerily quite for the past 2 hours. All i can hear is raindrops outside. Catelyn's voice is still in my head. Robb's last words of "mother" before dying. This episode was really taxing on my emotions.

I try to make myself feel better by saying it's just a show, they aren't really dead, but that doesn't really help. :(

I'll also say that not having any music over the credits was just brilliant. It matched the stunned silence I felt perfectly.

Which direwolves are still alive and where are they?

Jon's is somewhere north of the wall, we don't know where. Arya's is alive but we don't know where. Bran and Rickon's are with them. Sansa's and Rob's are dead.

I assume so, I think after they were surrounded they convinced the slave soldiers to throw down their weapons and then open the gate and the unsullied did the work
Okay makes sense. I was just confused because it felt pieced together weird, you get the cliffhanger where the trio is apparently facing MORE guards and it feels like they may not even get the gate open, and then suddenly you cut and they got the gate open and sacked the city.
Either way, it shows she is inexperienced at actually doing stuff besides telling her dragons to burn people.
She will slip up eventually. And it will not be pretty.
Probably. I hope she loses a battle. (preview spoilers)
maybe even next week, looks like she's going to send her dragons to attack...something. If one of the dragons died or something, or her baby dragons just couldn't win her another battle, it would make vulnerable in a good way. maybe force her to actual toughen up.
Not sure if trolling (I think you are), but it's almost been a whole year. You can't be serious lol.
I mean as a rule you're not supposed to spoil other media in irrelevant threads. TDKR I don't know about because the plot to that is pretty well known, but a year isn't that long. There could be people still holding out to see it. Stuff like Empire Strikes Back or Sixth Sense is so common knowledge but things like TDKR or the person spoiling The Shield could really easily just be put under tags.
