You do realize that the TV show is based on the book, right? That's like saying you don't want to see Romeo and Juliet because you want the ending to West Side Story to be a surprise.

If you can read, read the books. If you can't read, have someone read the books to you.

I personally will almost definitely end up reading the books, but I can understand why someone would prefer not to. Even if the books are objectively better, they're also of a completely different medium. The person you're responding to is used to the beat of the TV show, the actors and their particular portrayals of the characters, and so forth. They're attached to this version of the story, and it's their preferred way of experiencing everything for the first time.

In other words, I don't think his preferences are invalid in any way.

(That's the last I'll say about that. I've just always found medium vs. medium elitism a little off-putting, and you came awfully close to that. ;)

Anyone have a gif of Jorah and Daario tag-teaming that Yunkish soldier MvC style? Jorah combos his ass, then passes him off to Daario for the finisher. One of the most badass action moments the show has had.

You know, after last night, I think I'm ready for a little break from this show. :lol

I can't say I get the "fatigue" aspect I'm seeing from lots of folks. I was lucky enough to avoid the spoiler deluge prior to this ep airing, but even from the very start none of these dramatic bits really take it out of me so much as further draw the attention in to see where it goes from here. Sure, it would be nice to see more of the cooler characters either now missing or slain, but even that is tempered with the trend of generally even more interesting denizens of their respective little niches tending to keep manifesting as it goes on along.

Then again, I am a fan of the Legend of the Galactic Heroes OVA series, among others, so perhaps I just have a knack for long-wrought character based dramas loaded with intrigue and crazy things going down.

Roose Bolton has the best voice ever.

Just posting this again, it's so good.

I'm having trouble to hate both him and Frey. Frey was funny in a twisted entertaining sort of way, and Roose just oozes coolness with every expression and word.

Bolton may be allied with the Lannisters for now, but can you imagine him being pals with Tywin? I'd love to see them in a war of words.

Tywin Lannister would hand Roose Bolton his ass fifteen times.

The only person who's been his equal so far is Olenna Tyrell. I think Littlefinger, Varys and Tyrion could match wits with him, but they're too scared of him to do that.

Cos he's Irish and we're all sexy bastards :P

Anyway I just watched the episode and I saw itcoming for a good 20 minutes before it happened and I was still nervous as hell. I am in shock though and I hugely respect the team behind the series for actually doing it

Quite annoyed by the fact there was a dedicated thread to this episode created, giving away something huge happening this episode. Is there something we can do about this from here on out? There are literally THREE threads for this show yet things still trickle out potentially ruining things for people yet to watch it. Anyway, rant over.

Awesome episode, very shocking and unexpected that they would all go down like that. I was half expecting Rob to get away toward the end there when Kat was pleading with Frey, but as soon as she threatened his wife I knew he wouldn't care. Then I knew it was over for both of them. Will be interesting to see the fallout from this episode in the next season, should get pretty crazy.

6. Yeah, but at this point what even constitutes "the North?" There are a collection of great Northern families still around, I'm sure, such as the Umbers and the Karstarks, but who will they rally around? What is the purpose of this war now that the Stark family has essentially been reduced to a few scattered children, and the King in the North is dead? There are so many directions the story could go. Sunday can't come quickly enough.

I think I'm going to assume that Roose Bolton is taking the north given that he gave Tywin Jamie back, AND conspired to kill Robb, AND actually was the one who killed Robb in the end. But, I don't know, if Sansa and Tyrion ever consummate their marriage, and have a 'little wolf' I'm sure they would have a claim to it as well...

Rewatched today with a friend, and I totally didn't catch it but...he basically was telling her "go ahead, look at it."
GOD HE'S SO GOOD. I would be happy if Joffrey dies and he takes over as the villain. He's a troll but he's a smart troll and THAT is the most fascinating one to watch.

I've seen a lot of talk about the Red Wedding, but did anyone here talk about Bran's new ability yet? So, Hodor is part giant, right? Bran just controlled a half giant. Safe to assume Bran can control Giants then, right???
Speaking of lookalikes, Edmure looks like Cameron from Ferris Bueller's Day Off.
HAHAHA I just googled "Cameron from Ferris Bueller's Day Off", he actually looks more like Littlefinger to me LOL.

Hopefully it makes Bran one of the most dangerous mofos in all of Westeros.

I don't understand

How did Jon not recognise the wolves/stay around for a bit
I swear all the wildling were killed but Yggritte and the leader dude

+ what kind of dull sacking of a city was that? I know a couple of people a few pages back thought Grey Worm's fighting was cool but to me it just looked weird

AND WHO STABS A PREGNANT WOMAN GODDAMN
what is wrong with people

1. There were like 20 Wildlings. There was no possible way Jon could kill all of them alone, even with a wolf backing him up.

2. They beat the slaves by giving them Dany's bargain: She'll free them all.

3. People do horrible things like killing women and children all the time. Even today:

That's humanity.

This is the only place on the net I discuss Game of thrones, mainly because I haven't read the books and most other places don't give a damn if things are spoiled. Thank you based bish for keeping it clean in here.

You know the thought ran through GRRM's mind to have Arya show up in time for the red wedding. Imagine that reunion then the doors closing. Cities would have burned...mine at the very least.

Bran Stark can't use his legs, yet he has the power to be free as a bird. It's not all bad for the Starks, is he the shining hope for them?

Also will we see a reunion of Jon Snow, Arya and Bran Stark? Oh yeah I almost forgot about Sansa lol.

So unfortunately I was somewhat spoiled on this last episode stupidly reading my twitter feed AS THE EPISODE WAS STARTING (wish I could take that back), but at the least it only mentioned
Robb, so the others were still a surprise
.

I'm still pretty miffed that I've been spoiler free the whole series and now was spoiled on what many are saying
is one of the biggest surprises in the whole series so far
, but what are you going to do; it seems GoT is starting to require an absolutely dedicated effort to avoid spoilers for those not watching Sunday night.

Interested to see where they go after this,
a huge aspect of the show is now irreversibly changed
.

It was nice to see Rickon get some real lines and screen time. His acting was actually really good too.

And I need more death trio badassery stat.

holy shit @ the book readers in this thread :lol what the hell is wrong with y'all? I seriously don't understand

anyway this show while not the best on television is consistently unforgettable. who knew they could top Ned's beheading

Finally watched.

Not surprised. Heartbroken, but not surprised. Expected this since I read the first book and later watched the first season.

The only characters that ever stood out to me as being most unlikely to die are Jon, Arya, Tyrion, and Dany. The rest have always seemed expendable.

Dragon lady goes crazy from power and tries to take over the world by any means necessary. Bran takes control of dragon and eats her.

P.S I have a feeling her crush on that new guy will cause problems with Jorah Mormont, jealousy is a strong force.

My money is on Rickon. The kid has spirit; you could see the fire in his eyes. If these Umbers treat him right he should grow up with an insatiable hunger for vengeance and enough sword skill to feast.

And Arya of course.

I thought it was cute that he wanted to protect Bran. In his little kid mind, he is the superhero and Bran is his big brother who's hurt and he has to take care of him and omg the feels

Oh yeah I almost forgot about Sansa lol.

She's such a throwaway character. She might be important to the plot, but either the actress, or the script just makes her one of the least interesting characters on the show. I can't tell if it's intentional. We should care about what she's going through, but all I can think of is how I can't wait until the next scene without her.

seriously, book readers have their own exclusive club.

THIS! What the fuck, the episode was shocking but did it really warrant a dedicated thread, revealing to all of us who didn't see it live that something big was going down in the ep?

The foreshadowing was there throughout the episode and I definitely would have been nervous about the wedding going awry anyway, but I still wish I could have seen it without sitting there just waiting for the "omg" moments to happen.

Robb needed to be smarter than to think Frey would forgive and forget. Bringing his wife to the wedding was stupid, talk about asking for trouble. Disappointing end for the King in the North and his crusade, dying because he married for love and not for power. Always thought there would be something...more..coming from that decision, but I had my suspicions that Talisa was hiding something which could hurt Robb. This show is not easy to predict. As heartbreaking as it was seeing 3 of the 'good guys' go down one after another, it's yet another reminder why every episode of this show is so tense and why I can't stop watching.

But I should have known something would stop Arya from reuniting with her family. Just doesn't seem in the cards for her, she seems destined for a more solitary life. Both her and Bran needs to stay fucking safe though. Being a Stark is dangerous in this show. Hopefully Jon's story goes somewhere interesting too.

Yeah she's one of those characters that constantly make me go "oh right she's still around". I think there could be redemption for her character at some point, maybe she will become the one Stark that's actually good at the political/social game instead of just being a good, solid human-being that gets brutally murdered?
