Just imagine if Sony knew this game was going to be exceptional and moved the release date to coincide with a PS3 price cut at E3. That would be a nice strategy.

Thanks guys. I read this Review before and asked myself what ending he was talking about because I only read something about the beginning of the game. What the hell is wrong with Maniac anyway. In one of their TLOU previews they published informations straight out from their asses and now they spoil the beginning which is not even allowed because of NDA.

The problem I see with most of these reviews is that they don't praise the game mechanics beyond a simple "they work AMAZINGLY". It seems like a game with a strong initial playthrough, but if those game mechanics aren't enjoyable by themselves, it won't have a ton of replay value, like the uncharted games.

The thing about the controversial 7.5 is that at the end of the day, these are people trying to slap a number on something that is highly subjective and not quantifiable in the first place. It seems like Polygon is trying to (on some of their reviews, including this one) place an accurate number taking into account all flaws and the fact that a 10 should literally be a perfect game. In my opinion, there's no point in doing that if 10 is unattainable. Their mindset stands apart from those at other reviewers, but I feel like they will eventually join the herd just as everyone else did. One by one. Still, regardless of their intentions, the inconsistency in their reviews gives them little credibility in the first place.

I'm allergic to hype over narrative-based games. Too much disappointment there. But it seems this is getting good gameplay reviews as well. This could very well be the first new console game for me in a looong time.

I could play Dk Souls on my 360...
I'll take the chance this comes out on PS4 later. I'm not dropping £160 bones on a PS3 for 1 game.

Holy fuck these review scores are getting me fucking hyped. E3, Man of Steel, and Last of Us. Next week is going to be awesome.
I can understand gamespot regardless of the score. Plus 8/10 is a great score.

GameSpot's 8 sits fine with me. Polygon just keeps making it more and more apparent that there's something going on behind the curtain to me.

As I said earlier, you are talking to me when replying to me and I would consider a Gamespot 7.5 way more credible than a Polygon one. You can believe me or not, but we dont have much ground for discussion if you dont. I am not pissed about the Polygon score itself, I am pissed about Polygon. They are basically shit mountain for the past few months now, with Gies being the most annoying person in focus. Every reviewing outlet made mistakes, and its good they get called out on it, but personally, I havent been as vocal about the credibility of a single website other than Kotaku (to a lesser extent lately) and Polygon.

If you played the demo like the rest of us, you would've known that we all praised the gameplay and it's myriad ways of dealing with enemies and that the mechanics work smoothly, namely melees, shooting and crafting in game.
As for Uncharted not having replay value, that's on you buddy. I completed UC2 about 5 times.

I think ill leave my now but i think that polygon stuff happen from both the side - people who were acting like blind fanboys and people who wanted to see the meltdowns.
