Wow, both Eurogamer (of the 8/10 UC3 "debacle") and Edge gave it 10/10. I am impressed.
Played the demo only a little while, want to wait until my copy arrives (and have enough games on my backlog anyway to spend to much time with demos).

DAMN! Really wish ND has saved this game for next-gen.

IT could've been the greatest launch title EVER!

.......... or at least damn close ......... near Super Mario 64.

No game is perfect, 10/10 doesnt meant a game is perfect.

Well I consider a 10 a perfect score when your scale goes up to a 10. By definition, getting all of the possible points should be a perfect. When I screw up a paper, I get points taken off. I've never seen a prof mark up an assignment and still throw me a 100. Getting a 10/10 or 5/5 implies some level of perfection whether you agree with it or not.

How is this bad? When did getting a seven mean the game is bad? A seven means it's a good game with some flaws.

Were you've been living under a rock this gen?

10 / 9 - Great Game / Citizen Cane of Gaming/Game of the Generation / Oscar Worthy
8 - Good Game
7 - Playable but pretty meh
6 & below - Trash

:p

The Polygon review is interesting. In a totally unbiased way and not exploding at Polygon, what do people think?

I see what he means in terms of the violence pulling people away from the characters they start to care about.

So happy to hear that it is around 18 hours or so. This game looks to be hitting about every high note I could ask for.

Seriously. I'm going in on Hard mode right off the bat and stealth killing as much as I can with my limited resources. Gonna be awesome I think. =D

Quick question:

So, I've managed to avoid almost all coverage of this except the very early E3 trailers. Does the multiplayer reveal trailer spoil anything? I just want to know what the hell the multiplayer is. If it's a deathmatch or something else.

Anybody?

Hi guys!
I'm a moderator of the forum of SpazioGames. I can assure you that the screen with the 8.5 rating is entirely fake. It was made by an user for trolling in the official thread. The reviewer and the site has nothing to do with that fake: that was not a leak, but a total fake. Apologies for the misunderstanding.

You would say that

Thanks for the clarification :)

So, maybe I'm blind but I couldn't see any mention of the UK store selling it early on the last page, only some Australian store. Anyone know what store is selling it?

Also, if it's against the rules to ask this, I'll delete it. Not sure about GAFs rules with early copies of games.

It should be required to state where the broken street dates are, stop teasing us. Where is this? I'm in Boston this weekend, any broken steet dates in the New England area?

but it's also a common theme in pretty much all post-apocalyptic fiction

just read/watch The Road

:p

that's not really new to this gen, when I was a kid and was incredibly limited to the number of games I could get each year I would definitely try to make sure to get top quality stuff by checking reviews in Game Pro and other magazines

below an 8 generally means rent/try demo first, it's sad but true

I've seen more than enough reviews that didn't follow that, though perhaps there's an argument to be made that when specifically talking about standard AAA-type fare a 7 could technically be a "good game" but with countless alternatives that are better made or just more relevant there's not really much reason to bother unless you got it for free and had a boring slow day you didn't accidentally waste anyway.

At any rate, JUST looking at the scores and Polygon's blurb makes me wonder again about how it seems AAA games specifically manage to hit the right notes with some (many?) critics. I'll definitely check it out at some point, but I don't plan to buy into the hype and get ASAP only to be letdown regardless of its actual quality.

EDIT:
lol not just this gen, but all gens
Yeah, this just confirms to me that either this notion is full of crap (at least to that extreme) or that it applies more to crowded genres than uncrowded ones.

The way I see it:

10- a masterpiece
9- amazing
8- great
7- good
6-average
5 and below- bad

Is the IGN review the only one that talked about the MP, I watched Sessler talk about it a bit and liked his input. I'm not trying to read or watch too much about the SP, cause I don't think I'll be disappointed in that. I wanna know more about the MP, I'm definitely not watching the Gametrailers review, although they labeled it "Single Player Review" which lead me to believe they might have a separate vid for MP?

For real. Lol

Team DM in two types as far as we know. Seems to play into the whole 'groups fighting for survival' but I don't know if it runs right off the back of the SP side.

Alright, thanks!

Can't wait to play this. I'm pretty happy with myself that I've managed to avoid spoiling it for myself so far.

Sure, it is a theme but I cannot dodge the fact that sneaking around with a 14 year old girl, only to hop over a desk and smash some dudes skull in on the corner of said desk, feels really off. Maybe just me.

I don't think it's bannable to state where people are buying the game early from...

Come on guys, at least give us an idea of where to go if we want to buy the game early :p I don't want to drive to Toys R Us, Target, K-Mart, Gamestop, Wal-Mart, etc all hopelessly! I want to know where to go! :p (There aren't very many local game shops where I live... just one but they only sell old games, won't have very much luck there)

This is how I see it to. The truth of the matter is that we usually never play anything that is actually bad. No one here plays shovelwaee games. We only play the best of the best and the result as that a good game simply isn't worth the money to most of us. The games we play only really fit in the upper part in the upper part of the scale which is why is is used so much.

given that guy would do the same if not worse to you and Ellie? it's not like the people you are killing are peace loving hippies (those types die early in the post-apocalyptic world if they even last that long)

edit: I tend to play non-violent in games when given the chance but they've clearly set up that Joel has done some horrible things in the past that he's not proud of and is willing to do whatever it takes to survive

Wow it went beyond my already high expectations. I can't wait for June 14th. I have the pandemic edition preordered. I wonder if it can surpass even Uncharted 2?

Why does the 7.5 review have to mean anything other than the reviewer had a different opinion than other people about the game. Also comparing the scores the site or even the reviewer himself has given to other games as a means to rate what games they think are best is silly as well. Reviews are not meant for building a hierarchy of games where every 9 is better than every 8 and every 8 is better than every 7. Every review is weighed against a great many contextual factors that can differ greatly between games. Instead of being mad that there exists a dissenting opinion you should be happy that a dissenting opinion does exist even if you disagree with that opinion because it's healthy for criticism. Every person in this thread that has questioned the guys review themselves have a dissenting opinion about a ubiquitously praised game for sure. This is fucking neogaf, a forum where it is ever so commonplace for people to shit on games that a large majority of people like. This reviewer gives a tepid score of TLOU and people question his integrity.
