Agreed.
But in any case, I do agree with the overall sentiment that one of the best things about Smash is that, thus far, every game in the series has been decidedly different from one another. I can certainly appreciate that much.
That said, that's all the more reason I'm hoping that Namco's involvement will be for the better. With the production staff being made up of the likes of people who worked on Soulcalibur, Tekken and Gundam Vs., I'd like to think that they'd be able to make a game that can hopefully arrive at a nice compromise of Sakurai's vision and solid gameplay mechanics...and hopefully without the need of utterly stupid things like tripping.
definitely, I like that the series has evolved in different ways and I respect Sakurai for his amazing work so far; it's certainly going to be interesting to see the extent of Namco's input on the game, like you said. I also keep in mind that, to me, Melee will never be surpassed, especially in terms of having that raw, brutal feel to it. From the time I read Sakurai's feelings on the matter (about the game being too hard and such) I've made peace with it.
