Sakurai confirms Smash trailer at E3 direct!

FUCK YES!!! Hope it's a long and nice one! Depending on what they show on the ND I might just buy a Wii U down the line (after I buy a 3DS).

I say we call 4 newcomers now. Then we can all look back and see how wrong we were.

1. Lucina - FE: A
2. Little Mac - Punch Out!!
3. Ridley (Sakurai will have caved on his size) - Metroid
4. Palutena - Kid Icarus

Snake-like Reveal: Goku (heh)

I don't think we're going to lose any characters, but I do think we'll get at least Mewtwo and Roy back.

The original Japanese script of Uprising was written by Sakurai himself. The localization took quite a few liberties with the jokes though.

Doing something similar with Smash Bros sounds kind of difficult due to mute characters like Mario and Link... but I guess they could try. Maybe creating original god characters to represent those biggest franchises which also happen to have mute characters during the banter?

Why does it have to be "Super" Smash Bros. calling it now "Ultimate Smash Bros".

The Japanese name actually doesn't even have "Super" in the name. "Nintendo All Stars! Dairantou (Great Fighting) Smash Brothers!" The subtitles also have been changed too. Melee was DX (Deluxe) and Brawl was X (crossover).
 
 
Vegeta should also be in it, and when they are in the same fight and you use goku's final smash Vegeta says "His power level, IT'S OVER 9000!". It would be awesome.

He does basically the same thing as Fox anyways.

You focus too much on special moves. Yeah Falco's more clone-ish which needs some overhaul but Wolf is pretty much his own character.

And I disagree - you speak as though Pokemon isn't deserving of having more slots. Lucario wasn't "promoting" anything (well fine, he was by starring there), he was there because he was a popular Pokemon, and seeing how he's whored out next to Pikachu, I doubt he'd be pulled out.
 
I'm officially hyped for E3 now. I honestly had been expecting screenshots. I'm soooooo hyped. And hearing that Sakurai will be at E3 (and presumably doing interviews, even implied in this topic) makes it even better.

Late to the question giving here and this thread sort of exploded while I was at work so apologies if these have already been asked:

1. Have there been any 2nd/3rd party collaborations during any previous Smash games that have fallen through? Such as Banjo/Joanna Dark/ED characters from Rare and Silicon Knights being planned for Melee or Mega Man being discussed for Brawl (since he's mentioned on the Japanese Dojo's for both Melee and Brawl MM's consistently one of the most requested Smash characters).

2. Has every cut character that was planned for SSB64/Melee made it into the series by now? Such as how Bowser/Mewtwo/Dedede were planned for 64 but made it in later games, or how supposedly Wario was considered at one point for Melee but didn't get in until Brawl.

3. Why was Wario Land/World completely snubbed in Brawl? In a series that has no qualms acknowledging tons of stuff from Rare's DK games (and even their non-DK games in the history part of Brawl's vault) it comes across as a bit bizarre to ignore the existence of such a large part of a character.

4. Can Ganondorf have a proper moveset and have his old one given to someone like Black Shadow now?

5. Have you played Project M and if so what were your thoughts on it?

I realize those last two are pretty whiny and fanboyish but it'd still be interesting to see Sakurai address those points

I wasn't around GAF when Brawl was announced but I looked up the initial reveal topic, and my god. The reactions to Snake being revealed were fucking amazing, it kind of made me nostalgically giddy.

Smash Bros is such a magical series. I don't think there exists a series out there with the same amount of love and thought put into all the reverence and years of history the properties have. It's one of a kind.
 
you know how your character becomes effectively less slow?

if they can throw out grenades and rockets and have c4 and mines planted around the map all at the same time, giving you complete tactical control of the map at all times
