Giantbomb says EA, Ubisoft & Activision are the ones pushing for used games DRM

So why is UBIsoft giving the WiiU so much support?

we heard early in the wii u days that it is supposedly blown open for developers to work with, could be possible for these guys to create their own anti-used games system

also wii u has an extended gaming audience that is quite lucrative for ubisoft

So why is UBIsoft giving the WiiU so much support?

Because unlike EA they're smart and financially solvent enough to realize it's better to have a third first party to use as a bargaining chip against the others, and to keep that market open for the next Just Dance and their multi platform ports.

I'm surprised at Activision being one of the three, they've never tried to do anything about it and used game buyers buy a lot of COD dlc.

Duh. If PS4 doesn't have console wide DRM restrictions a-la Xbox One then you can bet your ass that at the least games by these publishers will

My post from earlier. And yea, looking out for the smaller devs and publishers my ass.

Makes sense that the most profitable and largest publishers would be the ones to push for it. There's no trickle down here people, these guys will just further monopolise and further profit.

I commented in the other thread, but MS has a long history of eagerly complying with crap DRM on the Windows side. They could have easily teamed with Sony and said no. And then what? They go PC exclusive? MS was an eager beaver because they want to monetize everything and this was their way of getting in on the action with Gamestop (Who's never been the enemy as this hilariously shows).

It's pretty hilarious how these three want it, because they're not stupid. They know the end game of this. Killing used doesn't bring in more money, it simply makes people incredibly risk adverse and drives the dollars to the AAAA titles. This will drive their market share numbers even higher. A bigger percentage of the same pie is what this about. The pie won't grow any.

3 companies im actively boycotting pushing towards a shitty drm filled future? They just make it that much easier to hate them. It's convenient really. I should send a thank you card

I'm sure they will reap the rewards for this soon enough. Just like when project $10 failed for EA, and always online failed for Ubi on PC.

Like I said in the other thread
Sony should let them implement their own DRM off their own backs and not implement it system-wide.
Because I have no fuckin' problem ignoring their games, I've done it long enough.
