Sakurai confirms Smash trailer at E3 direct!

Yes they do.

They need some writers.

I dunno whether they should go western and eastern with the writing though. And to not be afraid to let the characters who can talk, talk. Not like link or mario mind you ( even though link has talked before) but fox sonic, fox , cap, pit , palutenia stuff like that. that was one of the things that made story mode SSE awkward, snake, lucario, metanight just silent. Why? Also they go silly with the story .

I think everyone being silent is more of a design choice. The guy that wrote for SSE wrote for FF7. I'll be okay with voice acting/dialog, but I feel that the way Brawl handled the cutscenes pretty interesting.

i feel like brawl can be a complete package,

Awesome story, alternate outfits, buncha characters good online, extra content everything.
I wonder if they're going to do more with alt costumes in this game... Brawl only had it for Wario. And I really hope online is good this time, it was such a mess in Brawl!

And a functioning electronic Nintendo museum.
Like Masterpiece without demos? That would be cool.

lol, love how Iwata seems to be a big high in that gif

I would love a Galaxy arena, with players running across a planetoid with crazy gravity and fighting upside down

that would be trippy

Eh, I feel like more humor can be explored with voice acting. 4's story mode needs to be funny.

They should, A lot of them I think think , it would help represent each brand more. Or represent more brands, Dr. Mario alt.

The online with friends for me atleast was pretty good. everywhere else, it was unmonitored unranked mess. I hope namco handles all of that.

A lot more trophies, music and demos.

Also more levels that do different things at different times of day or month or maybe even year.

Boss battles most of them should just come from the games represented.

Could you imagine fighting a Crazed Cranky kong and now he has gone into OG HUGE DK mode.

I think for single player what they could do is make it sort of in between Melee and Brawl's where its more fanservicey and meaty while being fun and replayable. The story could just be a Hunger Games style setting where all characters are lifted into an enclosed environment which is compromised of different locations and settings from different games. It'll be an environment composed and designed from games locations and at the end of travelling through the level you will face a boss. If you choose Pit you start off in the clouds and work your way to different areas. However as you move through the environment so does the ai characters fighting each other and/or forming alliances as well. When you defeat a character/characters you can choose to tap them back in and join your team (up to 4 possible). As you travel through the locations and settings there will be commentators who talk throughout the levels KI:U style with a similar tongue in cheek dialogue. Imagine going through levels with characters like Fawful, Hades, Groose, Prof. E Gad, Midna, Proffesor Oak, Slippy, Pikmin 2 Ship Ai, Cranky Kong, Tom Nook, etc. Commenting on the players progress and how far they think they will make it and bantering with each other. The single player wouldn't last more than a few hours and you wouldn't face every player or visit every location on a single playthrough.

I'd be surprised if Smash 3DS is really much like Smash U at all.

We know it's designed to be complementary, so I don't think there's any pressure on them to make it a "substitute", so to speak.
Well sakurai did say that the 3DS version would focus more on single players, less characters and more customization. Itd be kinda cool if there was a smaller cast but you could alter their moveset such as swapping Mario's FLUDD move for a Tanooki leaf move, swapping Toon Link's bomb for a Skull Hammer or switching Ganondorf's moveset to be more unique.

Can't believe Iwata "announced" Smash Bros two years ago... damn, time sure flies.
It's been a rollercoaster since then D:

Cant wait for the new

I REALLY hope they do this again. One of the greatest marketing campaigns ever for a game.

He's a unique character to have, but quite frankly I feel that if Konami doesn't want to support Nintendo with Metal Gear games, then why should Nintendo continue to give them free advertising?

Maybe the Eternal Darkness kickstarter got taken down because Nintendo hired Denis Dyack to remake MGS4 for Wii U.

To put it in perspective, this wait between the announcement and reveal for this Smash has been twice as long as the wait between the announcement and reveal of Brawl's, which I, at the time, thought was agonizing.

The door swings both ways, doesn't it? Snake being in Smash isn't just an advertisement for Metal Gear Solid.

My point is that there are more worthy third party characters that are actually (currently) well-represented on Nintendo systems. Unless Konami has a secret new MGS game in the works for Wii U...(heh)

Well, I assumed that they might ended up using Galaxy or New Super Marios Bros stages.

Imagine a stage with a circular 'planet' from SMG, players basically run around it and fight. and to knock out a player you gotta hit them out of the "gravity zone" - for a lack of a better comparison, imagine the viewpoint of Angry Birds Space.

Add more planets, mechanics, traps from SMG and you have an awesome stage.
i think

Imagine trying to figure out which direction is which at any point on a spherical Galaxy stage. Total clusterfuck. With Spear Pillar, it was always one or the other at any point.

I'd be nice to have individual Break the Target's levels for each character again. Though I understand why they didn't with Brawl's large roster. A new stadium game would be good too.

They could do that with Spirit Tracks and have you fight on the train you used in Spirit Tracks as it travels through New Hyrule and occasionally makes stops.

Oooh, the adventure mode could have a crossover between the two with arwings blowing up a runaway Hyrule train filled with explosives and you have to fight that Macbeth train boss in order to stop the unblowuppable lead car

Fuck, I can feel the hype taking me. I can't do this again; brawl hype almost did me in.

Could work both ways (silent/voiced) I think. And yeah I agree, the story should be funny in 4. I felt SSE was a bit too serious at times. (Although there was humor here and there, but overall SSE felt kind of too serious)

Yep! Imagine the potential. Dr. Mario would work really well as an alt costume.

My online experience with friends were also good in terms of framerate, but the input lag really gave me trouble to adjust to after playing offline mode. Doesn't help I tend to use fast characters, so it gave me trouble doing some things I intend to do in a quick second.

There's a lot of untapped potential when it comes to Smash Bros. One of the things I like about the series is that they have so many ways to represent their history. I'm excited to see what SSB4 would do.

I don't think we're getting another Dojo.

I'm willing to bet that since Nintendo is very serious about their Nintendo Directs now, they'll reveal news every month on them instead of every day on the Dojo.

We'll be getting Japan Months instead of Japan Nights.

Yuck. I honestly think a 5 day update would be better for marketing/hype than say 12 updates in a year. Those dry spots between each of them would be maddening.

The problem with having everything silent to preserve the sanctity of the characters who don't talk is that it's limiting the characters who DO talk.

Going back to a voiceless Pit after the magic that was Uprising would be tragic. And hell, it's not like talking characters can't coexist with non-talking ones. Modern Sonic and Classic Sonic did it, why can't the Smash cast?

Daily Dojo updates were the smartest marketing move Nintendo has EVER done, and it was most likely completely on accident. I have no doubt in my mind that it was Dojo that sold the majority of Brawl copies. It wasn't just a means to attract hardcore fans, it was a way to reintroduce things for new users, and it was updated so often everyone had a reason to check it and see if their friends checked it and what they thought of it.

It was the first true gamer "water cooler" talk I can think of.

I think a select few could be voiced. Even though people hated Samus' voice-acting Other M, I think the actor's voice itself was fine, just the voice direction was poor. Keep Kirby silent, but have Pit speak, and so forth.

Samus felt gimped beyond belief, though maybe that was just me. Her Charge Beam was like a fly swatter.

It's not just you. Samus was my main in Smash 64 and Melee, but I couldn't KO anybody in Brawl.

My poor, poor Jiggs. They took his damn headband too, the bastards.

Nothing quite like being laughed at for playing Jiggs, strapping on the headband and royally fucking their shit up.

I always called her Rambopuff and spammed her down-b attack. Good times.

Same. I had to migrate away from Samus after Brawl. She was a lot less nimble and powerful and seemed to have lost her mobility and strength in the latest iteration. She also felt a lot heavier.

I hope they bring her back to her former glory.

There were funny bits to be fair, especially cap killing off all those pikmin.

Oh sounds rough, I hate that( oh jesus got MK) but my experience was alright, I most of the weird things i discovered in brawl i did online. Road wario's bike though lucario's finisher, blew our minds in high school.

Yes there is, I can only hope they realize it.

I really just want two things:

1. The online to work very well.
2. No DLC.

That's it. The physics could be the same as Brawl. The Story Mode could be your favorite Nintendo characters trekking through a world of fecal matter. I only ask for those two things.
