Sakurai confirms Smash trailer at E3 direct!

I don't understand the objection. I play MK7 online. Maybe 1 or 2 people out of 8 are using a Mii character. I always use Wiggler. Plus, in Smash, it's just going to be one moveset out of 35-40. And Miis do represent a pretty large IP for Nintendo. What's the problem with them?

Okay, I see that it is probably profitable for Nintendo, and some users find it interesting/ are indifferent towards it.
I play MK7 too, but I feel like it breaks the illusion of the game world and it just irritates me to see random frankensteins driving carts (Most have a normal Mii, but some make messed up characters just to be funny).
I daresay it lowers the quality of the game, at least for Smash.

If you are looking at it from strictly a "random" type of opponent, like Tekkan's Combot or Mokujin, I guess it can make more sense.

I hope Chrom, Lissa, Miriel, and my custom character from Fire Emblem: Awakening are in it.

I hope this is the last in the series for a while. Remember when super smash 64 came out? A new IP it was fucking great but now i feel its getting worn out and already reached its peak. Now its more about these fanservice character lists and not about the games idea i feel like.

I want more great game ideas and not this sequel shit. Seriously this fucking omg character list shit is so dumb to me.

I feel this way about pretty much the entire industry.

For the love of god Sakurai, please make both version independent, I don't want a gimped WiiU version thanks to 3DS. No cross play bs pleeeeeaaaase, I don't want another PSASBR D:

A melee port to the 3DS with online would be lovely imo.

You won't have to worry about that.

Me and my buddies talked about due to the shit load of gigs on the disc, he will finally not have to be faced with the storage limitations/problems he faced in the past. And have discussed how it would be cool if he shipped the game with Smash 64 and Melee on disc with online functionality. Although, there's no way that would happen. We omitted Brawl since it is like 6-8 something gigs, already had online (even though it was pretty bad, heading in the right direction for the series though- I'm expecting online to be vastly expanded on), and not even relatively hard to find.

Resident Evil REmake.
RE0
RE4 was for a time
the Chronicles series was for years.
and Revelations was for a year at least

how about replacing Snake with Chris & Jill duo, Ice Climbers style.

Use the Project X Zone designs so they fit in better.
JK though that would actually be an acceptable replacement imo.
I've always imagined (posted this earlier) Leon being a cool fit for a Smash game. His RE 4 version that is. He's more "fun" during RE 4 and the game was always popular among Gamecube owners. Even more so when Capcom released the Wii Edition.

If anything, at least the idea of breaking the illusion of the game world will be much less in Smash (which has 80 gajillion game worlds) than in Mario Kart.

Are you kidding me

There have been 3 Smash Bros games over the course of 14 years. And we probably won't be playing this new one until 2015.

So you are still insist with 2015 release date.

I don't think they would pay Namco-Bandai to work on SSB4 for other year. I would bet on 2014.

Adding Miis doesn't downgrade anything. You might as well tell players that they shouldn't expect unique experiences from playing your game. :P

If they add Miis, they have to go all the way. Custom bodies and movesets!

Early on, Sakurai indicated he wanted to aim for 1080p and 60fps.

Anyone hoping for 1080p and 60fps was lol'd at in that other thread. I love for it to happen, but would be fine with the more realistic 720p 60fps. But if they can pull it, then they should go all fucking out. Although I hope it doesn't hurt the game too much in visual fidelity and detail.

Anyone thing they can pull it on the Wii U?

Agreed. RE4 leon seems like the best fit for it.
Also anyone who cries about third party characters

I think it's totally possible, it just depends on how the game is designed. I don't see them dropping 60fps either way though.

Yeah, I suppose you're right about that. Why'd they add it to a Mario game, anyway?

I can't see it working for Smash, which has a much bigger competitive audience.
Custom moveset idea is impossible I'm afraid, for online play and competitive play, it would destroy it.

Miis should be assist trophies at the most.

I'm perfectly okay with this. Just not characters.

I do agree about the third party characters, but around five guest characters for Smash would be fun. My Capcom pick would be Leon over Mega Man. You could have so much fun with the guy. Leon versus ReDeads! "Hunnigan, you said there were no zombies on this special mission!" "Well Leon, they're not real zombies anyway, they're ReDeads, magical creatures from the grave" "You say magic, I say dead people!" *suplexes the ReDead in question"

Miis could choose one of the body types of the Polygons/Wireframes/Alloys used, except have special moves.

Player get custom experiences, and there's no diverted resources because the character builds already exist. In fact they can become even more useful now.

No, a one-off character should not replace the face of the series.

Isnt the most recent game the most popular entry in the series.

Also they could make "marth " speak english , so anything to break unnecessary tradition I am down with

Well I said I hope this is the last in the series for a while. So there's two games coming out simultaneously on Wii U and 3DS, making that 5 titles. Hoping they break on the series for a while at that point isn't crazy at all. I'm sure even Sakurai wouldn't want to work on more for a while at that point.

I think if they have Miis in the game, the body, hitbox, and moveset will be uniform. Maybe a small, medium, large body, all with the same moveset. Then just have a different head.

How is one installment per console too much?

You're misunderstanding the whole purpose of the Smash Bros. series. Smash Bros. has always been a game that celebrates Nintendo's stars. With the evolution and creation of new faces and consoles, Smash Bros. follows suit. Its premise combined with its huge success undoubtfully means there will always be a new Smash Bros. game. So far, they've kept the pattern: one installment per console. That's not an overbearing frequency in the slightest, and it not only keeps the Smash Bros. community pleased but also keeps Nintendo's mascots refreshed and lively. Sakurai losing steam for the series won't impact its presence in the slightest; Sakurai even wanted Brawl to be the conclusion to the series, but Iwata and other high-ends basically demanded he pressed forward. Should Sakurai utterly sever the ties in the future (which I find unlikely), it wouldn't be too difficult for Nintendo to appoint the development elsewhere. Bottom line: Smash Bros. is too important to drop.

Poster ^ is right.

Well, we could expecting SSB5 for next new console if it's going to happens.

Also we still have plenty characters to last for next two generation of SSB4. You can check out how variable of characters that people are predicting to see in the SSB4. Check other people' list @ GAF's Prediction Contest

brawl came out in 2007 and it has been 6 years since then...

We're going to be able to play as a Mii, right? I mean they need to

nooooooooo this would be horrible. what would be even better is a Wuhu Island stage. it takes place on top of a hang-glider, flown by one of your randomly saved Miis. it takes you past a driving range where Miis are swinging golf balls at your screen, etc

would be tons of fun

I don't care what happens(short of tripping 2.0) so long as a Mii isn't a playable character. Keep that away from Smash.
