I'm still a big 360 fan and I'm stoked for the XB1. I'm really not phased by the anti-consumer outrage at all. I'm looking at XB1 as a digital only console and from that pov the DRM seems okay in my eyes. And I don't think I'm too far off either... From what MS described discs are just a delivery method for the digital version of a game. Sucks that you can't lend or borrow freely but they've included some lenient provisions to offset the harsh restrictions on free borrowing (I.e. Family sharing, used games at certain retailers).

Definitely some objectively bad restrictions but I'm not bothered at all by it.

I'm soo hyped for Quantum Break!!!

Sounds like you're under mind control, there's no way in hell you can justify being OK with this shit?

Quantum Break looks cool! I dig the premise of time/phase shift control, loved it in PoP:SOT, Max Payne and Singularity.

Maybe a more accurate term, rather than "okay with" would be "put up with." I'll easily put up with those restrictions if the games are right and the OS works as shown in the original reveal.

Will you be okay if the servers went down like the PSN, and you will not be able to play your games for over a few weeks????

There's no way they secured another Epic Games exclusive... Furthermore I seriously believe Gears will become multiplatform this generation. That's why I think this Black Tusk game will fill this gap and I hope it's awesome

So yeah, guy's I'm leaving in a few hours on a roadtrip, so....enjoy it for me! kk?

Also, somebody PM the CBOAT leak that he promised a few days ago. Won't be able to read it till next week, but it'll be fun knowing what happened! :)

One more day fellas, I'm really eager to see what will be unveiled. Whoever did that LotR reference made me feel special!

MS would like to know where you are going to..

Ah, you would too, wouldn't you. Naw, just going on a week long roadtrip/vacation thing. Awesome for me, since I'm poor! Part of it's getting paid for me, so I kinda have to. Oh well. I'll enjoy it I guess.

Even more agonizing is the fact that the components for a new PC build (my current one is about as bad and old as it gets) just arrived last night. *sigh Now I have to wait a week to build it. Oh well, something to look forward to. :)

I like Phil. And I think I like him the best out of the crew that is on stage, and that's not just because he is responsible for the games.
Yup. I actually laugh at the moments where Phil looks like "this sounds absolute bullshit" and has that half-smile. He still redeems himself for being so likable.

Spencer is alright I guess. At least he doesn't look like some kind of snake oil salesman con artist fake guy....hello Mattrick..

E3 is a trade show, it's not open for public, only the industry people.

Not really; you pretty much have to just be related to the industry in someway
or have friends who are
. So there's always a lot of "common" people there.

Don't you remember seeing that email from MS someone posted on here that allowed them to come because they had been a loyal gold sub you years and years? There may have been other factors of course, but point is e3 isn't just full of people who make games.

There are a few guests here and there, of course, but by and large, it's a closed event. I believe you also need to be invited to conferences.

is there literally no chance of a offline mode

I WANT A XBOX ONE SO FUCKING BADLY !!!!

ERGH PLEASE !!!!!

I WILL LITERALLY PAY FOR A FUCKING OFFLINE VERSION -_-

i hope i have ...... -_o

its just such a shame dude , i dont have internet access where i live hence having to use a mobile for everything -_-

It's frustrating for real.

Oh well, can't wait for Xbox 1.1 - the return of start menu human rights.

I don't really like Mattrick on stage....he looks like a lifeless hull. He has no emotions and if he tries to show some it only gets awkward.

Phil is a good guy...he should do all the important stuff.

if there as big a backlash as everyone at gaf hopes there will be then then MS will have no choice but to adjust their policies. Certainly the backlash would be magnified if Sony does the opposite. It will be interesting to see how the gaming masses (not informed passionate) receive the Xbone.

i imagine there is going to be quite a few returns this holiday season ? maybe

Sure; maybe; but it will all depend on which of their 2 major concerns end up being of more concern to the mass audience. If it ends up being the internet connection (which may not affect a large portion of early adopters); then immediate returns would be seen. If it ends up being the used game situation; then the impact may not be seen for 1-2 months following launch and returns may be more problematic.

I really do hope that MS at least softens their policies a little more (i.e, either remove the internet check in or at least widen the offline window to at least 7 days); as I think the industry needs as much competition as possible to enable innovation. Even if MS is not doing the innovation we want; their presence in the market pushing and using their money does force Sony and Nintendo to push and innovate. We know the PS4 is shaping up nicely due to the way that the Wii and 360 eroded their market lead in the current gen.

Also, I would bet that if Sony announces no DRM or at least less restrictive policies; that MS may be forced to move much sooner; but probably not officially move until after real world data has shown them there has been an impact

Great post. Times have changed and there are obviously some things that I'm not loving what I'm hearing but its a games machine and I hope to have a PS4 right beside it.
Where I enjoy several mp games it would be great if I can just switch from one to another with a couple of button presses.
Can't wait.

How did you rack up that 25k+ gamerscore and get it online without internet access? Why on earth have you moved somewhere without Internet? Even oil rigs have internet access these days.

Sorry bud just typed in the gamertag in your profile and that came up, but I think it was with a space instead of a "_" (thanks Google!).

They were genuine questions btw, was intrigued. Didn't realise there was any of GB still without internet - at least we seem fully connected oop north anyway ;)

How about digging out a 56k modem for the 24hr checks? That or a 3G/4G adapter or using your phone as a hotspot are other options.

I know it's not ideal but short of MS changing their policies, I'm not sure how else you'll get to play the XB1 exclusives.

Kind of nervous about this.

I loved the Xbox and 360 but have drifted to pc and ps3 in recent years due to the range of games and quality.

I had such hopes for this but the lack of power and the drm mess has me wondering what they can do to rescue it now.

If Sony say no drm then that's it, I won't be getting this and that's such a shame. Don't know why Mattrick chose this direction at all.

ha rural england sucks , no channel 5 , low 3g and awful broadband not worth the price , not to mention all the houses are made of cotswold stone which annihilates signal lol

im probally going down the phone thethering route

And then there's the third option, neither of those will be a major concern for the mass audience. In fact, my money is on that one.
