I said a few months ago that I doubted that Nintendo would ever produce a game for the system that looks as good as the upper tier PS3 games releasing this year. They did nothing to prove me wrong today. People hyping X and Mario Kart are largely basing it off of the crappy video and filling in the blanks from there.

The reason Wii U can compete now is because
A. Devs haven't had enough time with the new boxes
B. We've reached the point of diminishing returns as far as visual fidelity goes

Obviously Crysis. Metro Last Light, Tomb Raider (TressFX actually makes a difference), Far Cry 3, even Bioshock Infinite. Any of those games run with high settings or maxed out look cleaner and sharper than a lot of what's being shown for PS4 and Xbone. I was especially impressed by Last Light in 3D. It had a sense of scale I've not seen before, characters felt realistically sized where most games tend to look small.
Again, you ignore what I brought up and what I've seen others bring up. Almost nothing that's been shown so far is legit. There's always some special condition like "equivalent hardware" or "in-engine" never straight up gameplay on the actual hardware. Excuse me if after years and years of bullshots and bogus target renders I don't buy guys standing on stage with controllers as proof it's real.

also, watch the dev direct on the eshop for smash bros.
That game has such a unique look to it. The characters come to life, almost clay like.
Ive yet to see any hd dev go for/achieve that look. Its really great looking.

I'm saying the best looking Wii U games will probably look as good as some of the XBO/PS4 launch titles, that's all.
Only thing we really know is that were getting large HD towns and cities to explore in addition to a large overworld traversable by walking, cars, mechs and airships.

Yes, thanks for that. I'll be going to Best Buy tomorrow to try some of these games out. I'm gonna type up how they were when I come home...it'll 100% unbiased, swear to god lol. I hope the lines aren't long, can't stand waiting in lines due to anxiety.

Do you realize what you just said? You said direct feed screens are dishonest compared to off-screen videos. Did everyone forget how misleading off-screen vids (and screens) are? I seriously thought this was common knowledge, especially here. There's also direct feed video, by the way.

off screen vids always look better than how the game will actually look in person
that said, I still think the games look good enough. Can't say I've seen anything that couldn't be done on current gen hardware.

Just following up on this. After further checking that clip in the 3rd party reel apparently comes from a PS4 demo released a month ago. Parts of it didn't look as good as what had been shown during other PS4 demos.
Looks like clean current gen games with some better effects here and there.

Forget the direct feed shots, those are "compressed to hell and back". A low res video of a television screen is a FAR more accurate representation of how a game actually looks!

Friggin Platinum. Bayo 2 and Wonderful 101 look like a fucking blast to play. It's like they made a pact with the devil to always get my money without fail.

Nintendo pissed me off almost irreversibly this show but FFXV and one or two other PS4 looks only slightly, if that, better than X. X was fucking jaw-dropping.
No it doesn't. It looks about as good as NSMBU, which is appropriate, cause it's taking its artistic sensibilities more from that game than the SMG games.
FF XV looks significantly better than X.

Yeah I was kinda dissapointed they weren't as ambitious as in Mario Galaxy. Still it looks clean and colorful, like Nintendoland and I'm OK with that.

Remember the game you imagined when they said that?
Compare the game you had in your head to this one.
Notice how the one you imagined was a continuation of Mario 64/Sunshine/Galaxy with a great new Gamepad-centric twist and stunning HD graphics?
Notice how the one we're actually getting is Super Mario 3D Land HD?

Crazy that people will spend so much time arguing over opinions. People think lots of things look better than others. It's like arguing over whether girl X looks better than girl Y. Everyone has their own tastes.
I thought that X beat out just about everything I saw yesterday. I just love the style of that game and the lighting. Some people will agree and others won't. That said, lots of stuff looked great all around.

I am impressed by Visuals. since I haven't yet seen a Nintendo franchise in HD. If games have Better graphics then 360 and ps3 run at 1080P and 60FPS I am happy.
Not sure what the comparable GPU is for the xbox 360 and ps3 but I believe I read that Wii U is as powerful as a Radeon 4000 series

Graphics looked great, but other than Mario Kart (surprisingly), where were the cool gameplay ideas? Everything looked exactly the same as the previous games in their respective series.
