No, this is a new city and a new event, seems like the bad guys are attacking it by summoning Leviathan. Not sure why.

Some of the discussions we hear in the trailer actually sound like something that have been taken from the beginning of the game instead of being said during the events of the trailer.

Noctis' eye color changes from blue to red based on his emotional state, and we know Papa Noctis has the same powers. I think it almost definitely is him, or a relative of theirs. His face is shown concurrently WITH Papa Noctis', so they're clearly thematically tied.
 
Not digging the gameplay, but at least the visuals and music are fantastic.

I like that everything has weight to it, but some of the warping looks kinda clunky and the Donald and Goofy partner interruptions could get real old real fast. Some of their combo attacks were cool.

It could be another character with the same power that is a mystery as to how he has it. But it's most likely Papa Noctis but he still looks too different to me (full beard, long suave hair, sorta different facial features)

Having high visual presentation quality =/= Pretentious. Also his KH designs are mostly cute of the time and the themes are strong yet simple.

I didn't mean to sound like I was calling him pretentious. He can be very humble for all I know, I know jack about the man. However his characters are so fashionably unrealistic and not relatable at all for me. It seems he puts a ton of effort into the way they look, dress and styling their hair than anything else. Nit too mention his stories get so convoluted. Watching the trailers for 15 I'm getting similar vibes here. I don't like any of the designs of the characters. They come off as pretentious

I just really hope the warp stuff isn't this game's magic triangle button. I don't think so though, because at the end of the bit on the skyscraper after he's finished with the enemies you can see him go into an aiming mode and he lands where he pointed to.

Ignoring the eye color, look at his facial features like around his forehead. They have different marks.

Red eyes have something to do with Noctis' connection with the crystal/activating his super sayan powers.

Nomura's designs are always very Japanese, that is to say his designs would make sense if you were a young person living in urban Tokyo and were into the culture that comes with it. Fashion is wild over there.

She reminds me of what a more realistic version of Leanne from Resonance of Fate would look like. I think she looks good, although I suppose we'll see when they actual show her new model. Her old model didn't look more "strong" or anything of the sort.

Every game's every character ever has tons of effort put into how they look, what their clothes are like and their styling.

In the past, there were many crystals that gave power to the countries wielding their power. War erupted over them, crystals were destroyed. Only one remains in Noctis' kingdom. Cold war ensues. Just when peace treaties are to be signed between a couple of countries, another one enters the picture to steal the crystal and kill the royal bloodline. That is convoluted... how?

Noctis is a prince. He dresses well. That's not pretentious. These characters have a personality, unlike most western characters. I don't think they are pretentious at all.

Maybe the first attack fails and this is the second attempt?

That is something to take into account as it's certainly not uncommon. In that case, perhaps this is an attempt by Noctis at taking the crystal back or at least striking some kind of blow.

All I know is that I hope that Leviathan is an actual boss because that could be amazing.

I'm wondering if this will turn out to be a negative effect of using the crystal. All I know is that powered up Daddy Noctis (Didn't they name him in the trailer) scares me a bit. He looks rather crazy.
 
i'm worried about the gameplay. But honestly, what battle system can rpg makers do to make it more appealing but still have the same feel of prior final fantasies?

:/ Am actually interested in what you mean by this, you mentioned before that he seems to take a lot of care in putting together the outfits(although I don't think he did XV's?) but you also seem to believe he has a shallow understanding of the surrounding elements.

Have you seen him? He literally looks like that, so it must be pretty relatable for him. Noctis looks like an idealized Nomura with different facial features. That's a popular style.

The trailers definitely impress. It's only a couple minutes of footage though so I wouldn't expect to see the full capabilities of the combat system so soon. It's cool though that people have figured out some of the mechanics from the gameplay trailer though.

Pretentious doesn't seem to fit here. I would hope there would be an assumption of importance for your characters considering they are well, the main characters of the whole game. Also if you don't like the over the top nature of the game or its character design I think stating so would have been more effective in getting your message across than just dropping two random adjectives.

*I put those dictionary quotes there because sometimes it helps to make sure we're all on the same page regarding definitions of uncommon words.
 
"Convoluted" is another stupid word. Yes, when a game ends up being a mess because the writer fell all over themselves inventing new rules to excuse the ones they've been breaking (FFXIII), it deserves to be chastised. But being complicated isn't a bad thing.

It looks like I am the only one who likes Stella's new design.

I still do like her old design, but I like the new design just a bit better.

Totally fair, and it's one of the reason i loved Silent Hill 1-4.

But i also think it's unfair to ask of it from FF XV, which is so heavily going for a perfect, glossy glamour look in everything from the environments to the characters.

The character design in Silent Hill 3 and 4 is absolutely amazing.

There's nothing wrong with having a differing opinion. You just aren't explaining your points very well. And using the word "pretentious" raises major red flags in any conversation due to its frequent misuse.

It's a FF game, not really expecting "relatable" characters here, nor do they have to be to be good.

I don't think I'm misusing the word and at that point your problem isn't with me and my choice of words anyway. I concede that I didn't explain my points well initially but I clarified myself and got some pretty silly but hostile responses in return

Her 2011 design is still is barely touched (although it did change a bit). She doesn't just look younger (sadly), her new one is a complete different character. It took everything defining out of her strong, and more mature face and turned it into a generic anime face. The initial design left me speechless, as I found her very interesting and intriguing. She looked like she has a strong will and like a redefined person... not like a damsel in distress with a kawaii pretty face... :X


And if you have a mug shot from then, go ahead and post it... :p

You're absolutely right, I have no problems with you! I didn't really find the responses hostile either but this is unrelated to the game.

Opinions are not immune to questioning your reasoning behind them, especially when it boils down to "it doesn't appeal to me." The response to you probably has less to do with your actual opinion and more to do with your use of the word "pretentious."

I do agree with this. Looking at the game closely, it's clearly the PS3 version transposed to the PS4, XB1. Looking at the scale of the game and the speed of things, i bet they struggled to run it at the decent framerate and they switched the whole game to next-gen machines.

Think Stella went through the most radical changes in the transition from her debut in a magazine scan to what we have currently now.

Dig her old hairstyle more, since she looks more like Namine from KH now. :/
