Actually, I think that the series has been relatively consistent with its gameplay. People make a big deal about the differences between how the games operate, but XII and XIII felt like the first real changes to me, aside from perhaps the introduction of ATB (which is before my time anyways >_>). Most of the differences in the series are in the background stuff, like how you raise stats, learn skills, etc. This takes Final Fantasy from a command based mainline series to a limited command based action RPG.
So you are arguing that because had already been tasked with creating the one off cinematic they couldn't have instead been tasked with creating a different feature?
I just noticed, Thuaway is banned? Was it because of "XV is ps4 exclusive"?

Ehh kind of but not really. A little over half the series uses various twists on ATB, while 1 through 3, and 10 very much use proper turn based (but even then have their differences). Besides, combat is really only one part of gameplay. How you build your character (or lack thereof in FF4) is a huge part of any good RPG, and, it's always been pretty vastly different from one game to the next. A few have had somewhat similar ideas but they all have their own quirks and differences, it's not like we classify stat building as part of the story or something.
Still though, the thing to keep in mind withVersus15, is that it was always going to be an action-rpg. Forget the number exists even, this may as well just be another MMO (in terms of how you look at it). It's a game that was going to be made anyway but they just slapped a for realzies number on it for the $$$$ (RIP Last Remnant, you should have been named Final Fantasy).
Whatever Final Fantasy 16 is it probably has nothing to do with Nomura and will be something vastly different. ATB? Proper turn based? Evolution of FF12? Could literally be anything.
Do FF fans really like what they're seeing in this? This isn't an RPG. I'd rather play Devil May Cry than this. Eugh.

KH-FF fans are loving it, purist FF fans not so much.
They wouldn't be tasked with working on a completely separate area of skill an expertise completely removed from their job description, no. The person modeling enemies A, C, and E are not spending time they could be have been coding the damage formulas. That's what Tri-Ace is for.
You are hilarious, do you understand that features could include anything from new attacks, to new monsters, to new ways of travel. The Animator could have been animating new attacks, the modeler could have been modeling new weapons, the engineer could have been coding better Ai. You wouldn't ask a modeler to program state machines. How can you then then say a completely different company would be dictating how much damage attacks do in FF15.

Putting aside your hilarious attitude, that is not at all what your last post implied.
"Yes its a bad thing, one off big cut scenes are expensive and take away from game play features that could actually make the game fun to play."
Explain how my post isn't implying that spending large amounts of employees time on cut scenes is expensive and it could have been spent on game play.

"Features" in the manner you used it seemed to clearly imply you meant that the people who work on the CG would be the same people working on major gameplay systems.
Doesn't SE use an entirely different team for CG anyway? Visual Works I believe.
Reminds me of chris redfield everytime I see this guy HALP

This looks like heavily scripted to me. While i really enjoyed the gameplay showcase, i would like less scripted sequence and more freedom and exploration. Hopefully, they happen in story sequences only.
We don't know a whole lot at this point, but I think it's safe to tell you to not expect Bayonetta/Devil May Cry/etc in terms of control.Okay, for someone who's only in here due to the spectacle of how this game looks, and who isn't a FF fan, and doesn't play action RPGs, help me out.
How much control do you actually have over what's happening on screen? I read some impressions, but the picture still isn't clear. Will this be as precise to control as character action games? Are you inputting an attack button/string for every attack/combo you see on screen? How much of it, if at all, is inputting commands and sitting back to watch stuff unfold?
Basically i want to know if I'll be able to come into this from an action game background and enjoy the ebb and flow of combat as much as I do in those games. Where attacks feel responsive and player controlled, where defense is more about actively blocking and dodging hits than a defense stat or just eating hits and hoping you survive, etc. I've always wanted to get into the franchise, but turn based and ATB systems don't do it for me anymore.

Nomura said he's making the game from the ground up using DirectX11...
Could this mean a superior XBO version?![]()
He reminds me of this guy more. ("Helo" from Battlestar Galactica)Reminds me of chris redfield everytime I see this guy HALP
This is an RPG. Also the DMC comparison doesn't make sense, care to elaborate?Do FF fans really like what they're seeing in this? This isn't an RPG. I'd rather play Devil May Cry than this. Eugh.

Is this running on Luminous or Crystal tools (I'm guessing Crystal Tools based on the graphics)?
That's disappointing, I remember them revealing it a few years ago, to not have it ready yet is shameful. This just makes the likelihood of a PC release all the less likely too.I don't think it's running entirely on either. They say it's based on Direct X 11 now, which could mean Luminous, but they've avoided saying Luminous specifically, so I'll say it's likely a specific development environment hacked together from various technology bases just for the game. Similar to how they're making FFXIV. Luminous Engine is probably not ready to be used as a fully unified dev environment within the company yet.
Plus, DX11 doesn't mean much on its own as he doesn't name any specific technology. Since OpenGL has lots of similar abilities to DX11 now, we won't really see much of a difference once it's ported to PS4.It definitely must mean that. I mean the Xbox 360 version was clearly the superior version this gen, and of course given that the difference between the systems is much bigger this gen, I expect the Xbone version to be superior.
I thought Crystal Tools was dumped for Luminous.
It's not DMC level, but it is Kingdom Hearts level. All attacks, dodges, magic, are all manually input. You don't sit back and watch anything really. It's an action RPG.

In the end, I don't think there would even be a difference between Xbox or PS4 versions of the game.
