comments on youtube Ki3 videos are hilarious. People is already portbegging for a ps4 version XD. poor souls...
Someone even bashed microsoft for making the game exclusive to themselves 0_0
shit is getting crazy.

Man I played the original game to death. First in the arcade, and then the SNES port. It will pretty damn decent given the limitations.

I didn't like part 2 though.

I think the team has earned the hype they have for now, after 3 days of streams and questions. Did ANYONE else at E3 jump in front of fans, and divulge everything so openly?

But they have a long road ahead. Every new build, every new character, will be a new test. Yet they seem up to the challenges that lie ahead.

Evo will bring Glacius and a next character announcement. After that, they plan to start speaking more about the story and other details. They'll also be trying to hit every major tourney afterwards, with builds of the game. Sounds like we have a good amount of time to really see the game put through the gauntlet.

Dear Developers,

Plz plz plz

Make the announcer say "ULTRAAAAAAA COMBOOOOOOOOO"

and not just the first word. As an old school KI1 player, it's akin to Michael Buffer introducing a boxing match and only saying, "LET'S GET READYYYYYYYYYY!" and leaving off, "TO RUMMMMMMMMBLLEEEEEEEEE".

It's not the same.

I honestly think I am the only one here in this thread who feels the sparks are way over the top and need to be toned down.

I feel they were made by someone who has just started using particle effects and realized that they could crank them up because they could and it didn't effect performance.

They seem too distracting and gimmicky for the sake of a WOW!

Just my 2 cents.

I'm sure you're not alone there, but I don't think you'll be seeing it THAT often to be an issue. It isn't like a slower paced zoning game ala certain SF4 matchups where you see a lot of projecticle collisions. It hitconfirms into a combo and on block gives a ton of meter, giving more incentive to jump over it. I also think in person at 60fps it won't actually last long or really get in the way.

I just want all the old characters to return. There were only 15 characters total across KI 1 and 2 counting bosses. Maybe afterwards toss in a few Ki inspired versions of older Rare characters (like what was done with Sabrewulf)...I could see one of the Battletoads or a Kodiak bear wearing shorts fitting in well as Ultratech experiments like Riptor. Joanna Dark would fit pretty good as well though not sure how she'd fight.

Maybe a deranged psyche ward escapee named mr pants heh.

I think I'll just take the almost universal positive feedback from fans and the FGC who have played this game over your uninformed speculation.

Dude, is not "universally" claimed by the whole FGC. Only by a chosen few that get paid to play this games. Remember SFxT???? It was hyped by know players. Wait until is on its last build or close to it.

This....Plus "COMBOOOOOO" mentioned on hits upwards of ten.

1. I said "almost universally".
2. Anyone and everyone who has played it has had positive feedback.
3. I was responding to someone who said it was all style no substance, despite never playing it.
4. I covered SFxT above and the fact this keeps getting wheeled out as a reason to disregard or even doubt hands on reviews is getting annoying.

The funny thing is, if I wanted to I could totally get away with playing the free demo version only since I really only played as Jago back in the day.

Anyway, hope to see Orchid next. xD

So i heard it was a free to play game like league of legends so u need to buy more fighters and Jago is the only free one! is this correct?

I always saw Fulgore as the KI "mascot." So Im guessing he'll be the next playable char after Glacius.

It would also make sense for them to reveal Orchid already... At least Fulgore, Spinal, and Cinder were word-of-mouth confirmed. None of KI's ladies have received any attention.

I actually hope they throw some curveballs in there, rather than sticking strictly to re-designing and releasing the old cast. Are we suppose to have 13+ characters out the gate? I know someone tossed around the number 9...

New characters taking old characters spots wouldn't be bad. Or fusing some characters together to make combined tributes to both (Such as having someone like Maya & Tusk, that used a Dagger+Broad sword together.)

They seemed to act like they had a fresh idea in mind, with how to make "Zoning" and "Grappler" characters for KI (since everyone in the past was more or less simply rushdown), so I look forward to what unique solutions they have in store. Much more so than seeing old character checked off...

Game was surprisingly fun. I pretty much had zero expectations going in, but it plays really well, and it's flashy and colorful.

I was one of those "why the fuck are they bringing KI back? Game was pure 90's cheese, and corny as hell" folks going in, but it changed my mind.

I mean, it's still corny, but fun as hell :P

Not exactly.

Jago + Full SP and MP (online) offered in the "demo/f2p" build. If you're a Jago main, I guess it is Free!

Can then proceed to pay in different ways:
> Full Game one time purchase (Includes all characters at release)
> Pay for the characters you want individually.
> Purchase various discount bundles (maybe like 3 character sets or something).

They're basically trying to make the game have a low barrier of entry, to get everyone trying the game out.

The demo is free, which will allow you to play as Jago ONLY. You can play in all of the modes including story mode, online, etc. If you want to play as other characters you will have to buy them individually.

There will also be a full digital(physical disc too? not sure) version that you can purchase.

edit: beaten ^^

Agreed, I don't have a twitter to suggest it though.

Have they revealed that there's going to be "finishing moves" in a later build, or are they just removing those completely?

It's a bit unclear.

I've heard its reported that they have some mechanics still left to unveil (can't remember where from though) and I've also heard the opposite.

In one of the demo vids, i think gamespot's, they said they're focusing on the main fighting system right now but if the demand is there they would work on adding them and humiliations.

Hmm, part of me feels like their inclusion back in the day only added to the game being a "Mortal Kombat ripoff", but I also feel like they'd be missed.

Do we know what rating they're striving for?

And to be fair, KI is just a game for button mashers to pull of "sick combos"

you can do most of this shit without even trying in the original games.

you had to hold back for 3 seconds and push forward/half circle forward while doing quick, medium, and hard combinations in order to get in the big combos. The most combos you can get from spamming is a super combo.

Masterchief in a poncho DH and 343 make it happen..

Game currently has blood splatter, but I've heard no mention of what specific rating they want.

While Humiliations and "No Mercy" would be cool, I wouldn't mind seeing them scrap the old delivery methods, and instead get things like that in there, in different ways.

Humiliations could take over for the "you win" screen, forcing the defeated opponent to dance for you.

Every character could have a "PPP" and "KKK" Ultra, with one ending with flashy damage, the other ending with deadly damage.

Or they could make something totally fresh, like having the characters steal something from the opponent, and holding it over them as a Trophy.

And why does no one ever mention the stage kills? They were generally much more unique than KI's "Fatalities". Giving stages unique KOs all over the screen (kinda like Eternal Champions) would be pretty cool... don't even have to KILL the opponent, just do something humiliating / annoying to them.

Masterchief in a poncho DH and 343 make it happen..

He'd fit in better than Nicole did in DoA 4. Though Cortana would fit in best...Crazy AI construct would be an original character. Plus Master Chief would be to close to Fulgore in looks and limited in his moveset.

Loved part 1 and 2. Maya was awesome in 2. Missed Cinder though, glad he's back. Will be a while before I play this though, can't see getting an Xbone for a few years.

My only issue with that is that I feel the older characters were iconic...they all filled a specific niche with no overlap (though Jago and Fulgore were way to close to shoto's in KI1). They were unique enough that bringing them into the new era shouldn't be to difficult while making them feel different.

Plus there's nothing saying they can't make an original character based on say a thief that uses a long sword and short blade combo. But i doubt said combo character would be using high arc flip kicks like Maya or creating columns of fire like Tusk.

Fulgore was a weird shotoclone+charge character, at least in KI 1. Fuck fulgore mk2.

The reveal that Double Helix was making it worried me a bit (doesn't help that I'm currently watching the Two Best Friends playthrough of Silent Hill: Homecoming ...), but after seeing all of the gameplay demos my hype has definitely come back. It still looks like Killer Instinct to me, but more fleshed out as a real fighting game than before.

I can't even recall how Fulgore played in part 2. All i remember is he could shrink people (?), had a really shit teleport, and long range lasers both in the air and on the ground on top of what he already had in KI1.

I think Killer Instinct is one of few fighters where I feel the fighters really aren't iconic at all... I was sad to see Chief Thunder disappear in KI Gold, and I liked Kim Wu in that game, but I'd just as soon trade them in for a well-designed Black female character (since fighters sorely lack them), and a better designed Asian woman (Kim's color schemes are so... ech?)

We also really don't have any older people in KI, and I'd hesitate to ask for young characters, but we don't have any of them, either. KI has great beast and monsters, however.

I guess, for me, KI had a way of making every character feel like the most BASIC take on an archetype possible, design wise. I guess that's why I like the new take on Jago; he actually has some DESIGN to him now, instead of looking like a guy who chopped up an EXTREEEEME Laser Tag armor, put on a mask, and started screaming out Asian import movie sound effects.

I'd have no issue with modernizing characters like Kim Wu (hot pink no thanks). Jago's new look has kinda grown on me over the last few days. I just don't want to lose those movesets is all I'm saying. The roster is only 15 characters big...more than enough room for expansion. There just is no need to have to remove older characters.

But yes more diversity in new players. Give us an old master in something, a black female character (or more female characters period), maybe a living stone golem that can act as a damage sponge/grappler.

this is actually pretty smart. i wouldnt pay 60$ upfront for this without knowing how it plays. but with this, if i like it ill try out the full game but atleast i still get to see how it plays first

more devs should try this with their new unknown ips

Gotta save something for DLC.

Watching people line up to play a KI arcade machine really brought me back. It felt just like it did when a new cabinet came out and everyone was hyped to play it. Props to whoever thought of that.

Capcpom shoud try this with their new fighting games.

I think I'll just take the almost universal positive feedback from fans and the FGC who have played this game over your uninformed speculation.

The FGC always gushes over games when they get to play the early build. The early impressions of SF4, MvC3, and SFxT were all positive. Some of those games ended up being good, but they all ended up being heavily divisive games in the FGC. It's really impossible to tell if a fighting game is good without at least a few years of playing it.

Capcom puts out demos, demos with two characters from the start too!

Bring back character specific reactions during fatalities. Only KI1 did it, such as when Orchid did you chest exposing fatality, it actually made Riptor's trail stiffen up as he died.

Oh yeah, and humiliation.

I hope they add that. If you watch the actual E3 trailer the announcer does say the COMBOOOOOOOOOO part. Don't know why it isn't in the actual game.

how do you know that ki a) has any worthwhile features besides vs and only and b) that these features are unlocked in the barebones version

It sounds like you're really, really against the idea of people liking KI. Especially with that clown line about it being impossible to tell if a fighting game is good or not without playing it for at least a few years.
It's a game and people are clearly having fun with it. Let it go.

It's been covered many times: The free version has all of the single player content for Jago, and online vs matches where you're restricted to you being Jago.
I don't really know what other modes you would want, but if the full game has them and you want them, you can buy the full game.

The pricing structure beyond that will be similar to:

Premium edition of the full game + access to all future characters + some bonus skins: $60-100
Full game (all characters at release) + some bonus skins: $40-60
3 or 4 characters and a skin or two: $10-20
Single character: $4-5
Skin: $1-3

Just fill in your own numbers.

They're not fatalities, they're danger moves. Because they're dangerous.

The game to me personally looks amazing.

But a lot of people in the FGC don't trust impressions from the hollywood players (Let me just put 'em on blast. JWong, Max, Gootechs, Alex V, Mike Ross, mostly other well known socal players) because they hyped the living shit out of SFxT and the game is and was a complete fucking turd.

The devs are doing the right thing by getting this game out into the FGC so more than just the hollywood illuminati can play it and make up their own minds. :)

The only gripe I have with the game engine is that jabs look way to fast & safe. Last thing I want to see is people mashing on jab in this game like they are all playing Mags in UMVC3.
