I honestly think I am the only one here in this thread who feels the sparks are way over the top and need to be toned down.
I feel they were made by someone who has just started using particle effects and realized that they could crank them up because they could and it didn't effect performance.
They seem too distracting and gimmicky for the sake of a WOW!
Just my 2 cents.
I think I'll just take the almost universal positive feedback from fans and the FGC who have played this game over your uninformed speculation.
Dear Developers,
Plz plz plz
Make the announcer say "ULTRAAAAAAA COMBOOOOOOOOO"
and not just the first word. As an old school KI1 player, it's akin to Michael Buffer introducing a boxing match and only saying, "LET'S GET READYYYYYYYYYY!" and leaving off, "TO RUMMMMMMMMBLLEEEEEEEEE".
It's not the same.
Dude, is not "universally" claimed by the whole FGC. Only by a chosen few that get paid to play this games. Remember SFxT???? It was hyped by know players. Wait until is on its last build or close to it.
I always saw Fulgore as the KI "mascot." So Im guessing he'll be the next playable char after Glacius.
I just want all the old characters to return. There were only 15 characters total across KI 1 and 2 counting bosses. Maybe afterwards toss in a few Ki inspired versions of older Rare characters (like what was done with Sabrewulf)...I could see one of the Battletoads or a Kodiak bear wearing shorts fitting in well as Ultratech experiments like Riptor. Joanna Dark would fit pretty good as well though not sure how she'd fight.
Maybe a deranged psyche ward escapee named mr pants heh.
So i heard it was a free to play game like league of legends so u need to buy more fighters and Jago is the only free one! is this correct?

Have they revealed that there's going to be "finishing moves" in a later build, or are they just removing those completely?

It's a bit unclear.
I've heard its reported that they have some mechanics still left to unveil (can't remember where from though) and I've also heard the opposite.
And to be fair, KI is just a game for button mashers to pull of "sick combos"
you can do most of this shit without even trying in the original games.

Hmm, part of me feels like their inclusion back in the day only added to the game being a "Mortal Kombat ripoff", but I also feel like they'd be missed.
Do we know what rating they're striving for?
Masterchief in a poncho DH and 343 make it happen..
It would also make sense for them to reveal Orchid already... At least Fulgore, Spinal, and Cinder were word-of-mouth confirmed. None of KI's ladies have received any attention.
I actually hope they throw some curveballs in there, rather than sticking strictly to re-designing and releasing the old cast. Are we suppose to have 13+ characters out the gate? I know someone tossed around the number 9...
New characters taking old characters spots wouldn't be bad. Or fusing some characters together to make combined tributes to both (Such as having someone like Maya & Tusk, that used a Dagger+Broad sword together.)
They seemed to act like they had a fresh idea in mind, with how to make "Zoning" and "Grappler" characters for KI (since everyone in the past was more or less simply rushdown), so I look forward to what unique solutions they have in store. Much more so than seeing old character checked off...
My only issue with that is that I feel the older characters were iconic...they all filled a specific niche with no overlap (though Jago and Fulgore were way to close to shoto's in KI1). They were unique enough that bringing them into the new era shouldn't be to difficult while making them feel different.
Fulgore was a weird shotoclone+charge character, at least in KI 1. Fuck fulgore mk2.

Plus there's nothing saying they can't make an original character based on say a thief that uses a long sword and short blade combo. But i doubt said combo character would be using high arc flip kicks like Maya or creating columns of fire like Tusk.
I think Killer Instinct is one of few fighters where I feel the fighters really aren't iconic at all... I was sad to see Chief Thunder disappear in KI Gold, and I liked Kim Wu in that game, but I'd just as soon trade them in for a well-designed Black female character (since fighters sorely lack them), and a better designed Asian woman (Kim's color schemes are so... ech?)
We also really don't have any older people in KI, and I'd hesitate to ask for young characters, but we don't have any of them, either. KI has great beast and monsters, however.
I guess, for me, KI had a way of making every character feel like the most BASIC take on an archetype possible, design wise. I guess that's why I like the new take on Jago; he actually has some DESIGN to him now, instead of looking like a guy who chopped up an EXTREEEEME Laser Tag armor, put on a mask, and started screaming out Asian import movie sound effects.
Ryan hart's UUUUUUUULTRAAAAAAAAAAAAAA COOOOMBOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!

BTW: Anyone knows how to contact the devs for suggestions and shit?
They said their forums are a good place for suggestions:

Not exactly.
Jago + Full SP and MP (online) offered in the "demo/f2p" build. If you're a Jago main, I guess it is Free!
Can then proceed to pay in different ways:
> Full Game one time purchase (Includes all characters at release)
> Pay for the characters you want individually.
> Purchase various discount bundles (maybe like 3 character sets or something).
They're basically trying to make the game have a low barrier of entry, to get everyone trying the game out.
Gotta save something for DLC.In one of the demo vids, i think gamespot's, they said they're focusing on the main fighting system right now but if the demand is there they would work on adding them and humiliations.
this is actually pretty smart. i wouldnt pay 60$ upfront for this without knowing how it plays. but with this, if i like it ill try out the full game but atleast i still get to see how it plays first
more devs should try this with their new unknown ips

Capcpom shoud try this with their new fighting games.

Capcom puts out demos, demos with two characters from the start too!
A demo with every feature unlocked? I've never seen that.

The FGC always gushes over games when they get to play the early build. The early impressions of SF4, MvC3, and SFxT were all positive. Some of those games ended up being good, but they all ended up being heavily divisive games in the FGC. It's really impossible to tell if a fighting game is good without at least a few years of playing it.

how do you know that ki a) has any worthwhile features besides vs and only and b) that these features are unlocked in the barebones version
Bring back character specific reactions during fatalities. Only KI1 did it, such as when Orchid did you chest exposing fatality, it actually made Riptor's trail stiffen up as he died.
Oh yeah, and humiliation.
Lol, people would get PISSED if they failed at executing one and you came back to life and beat them. Shit was real in the streets. They're not fatalities, they're danger moves. Because they're dangerous.
It sounds like you're really, really against the idea of people liking KI. Especially with that clown line about it being impossible to tell if a fighting game is good or not without playing it for at least a few years.
It's a game and people are clearly having fun with it. Let it go.
