This is all entry level content.

Having 10 stage FATEs that re-write history at LVL 1 or complex dungeons as your first party experience is not what they are going for with these experiences. These are introductory experiences for people and are designed around the party having 2-3 attacks and a cooldown. They are meant to be the basics. As you progress and people have a chance to learn their class and are given more skills the encounters can get more complex. Think of WoW. Ragefire Chasm is linear and very easy yet nobody would base their expectations or critique the game based on this.

(and yet deadmines was always boss as fuck, unless they have ruined it after cata)

One good or bad thing about the dungeons in xiv is no sense of danger
wipes take u to the entrance with a shortcut back to boss
with plenty of time to spare

Actually thinking about it, I wonder if a Death Sprint floor would even be possible in this game since we can pretty much outrun anything.
In 1.0 that was how lv50 raids were run

and you learn an "Observe" skill, which basically makes you "do nothing" for one step. Not exactly sure how that plays into anything yet, either.

If your synth goes unstable (red, black, etc.) and you're scared, you can hit that to see if it will change to something better in the next round.

Some skills like Tricks of the Trade, though, willy only activate when it's unstable. So you could try using it for that, too.

Well, it's been fun. Only got a few hours in this weekend. I'm kinda waiting for phase 4... i've put in so much time, I don't want to waste anymore knowing all the progress is wiping.

Played the original FF 14 a bit and this is such a huuuuuuuuuuge makeover. Incredibly impressed and at the same time, big respect to SE for not abandoning ship.

Day 1 (obviously w ;))

I guess this is for future knowledge,

But, what can I exactly do with the weapons and armor that I craft? They sell for nothing at the stores and I don't exactly need ten spears or whatever.

Been some good times this weekend :D My upgrades have me looking like something out of Dark Souls which is nice. The Manor will be my next destination next week. Going to be good times!

I see you Ul'dah! Already miss you :(

After running around Thanalan, La Noscea looks really nice now. Surprising how different it looks compared to Thanalan and the Shroud. Also since when did Mamool'ja buy sausages?

I'll post some shots later.

I see what they were going for with FATE NMs. Kinda cool to wander across some people fighting a giant monster, and then join in. Only normal party sized groups though...no crazy horde of people unless its a full scale battle of sorts.

Either turn em into materia I guess, or sell them on the market board for slightly lower than what the vendors do? We were discussing this earlier, but I usually just fight/gather, so I cant really say.

How do you turn them into materia is my next question I guess, lol.

Managed to put another few hours in, this time to speed run a Conjurer to Level 15. Now THAT is a caster class I can get behind. Stance allowing for increased healing or damage at a button press, insta-cast DOT, movement-slowing ranged cast, heal, group heal, self buff. This has everything I wanted from a THM... and healing.

Gonna scrap my THM so hard it will leave a hole in the character screen. That class is now dead to me.

Small annoyance though, gamepad controls don't really work. I've had several times where I could not select other players, no matter how much I tried. Finally forced it via the LB+(Button) combo, but that's a major pain in the ass in a heated battle.

You can change your default filter for when you have your weapon drawn so you can set it to automatically go to a filter that will allow you to select other players. That's what I had to do for FATEs, and it's been much easier than me having to try and click people with a mouse. lol In a party, though, it won't really matter as you'll always be able to select your party members regardless of the filter.

They are working on a screenshot function for ps3 aiming for launch.

Good to know. Was looking for this function on the PS3.

Anyway, glad I got to play it for a few more minutes tonight. Was nice to level up a bit too. GAF Members in the group were helpful. :D

Or with higher level stuff you craft, you can spiritbond it and make materia.

I really like the Copperbell Mines dungeon. The two bosses really require teamwork, tactics and planning. It's a lot of fun and I hope more dungeons are like that instead of 'everyone just kill everything.'

All the dungeons after Copperbell have been great (Halatali, Toto-rak, Haukke Manor & Brayflox's Longstop) have been great. Also they have announced there will be 16-18 of these instanced dungeons at launch (so around 10 more than are in phase 3) and all of these should be around level 35 and higher so expect the difficulty to increase :)

SE really needs to put another class on Limsa. Is really empty compared to the two other cities.

A shame, cause La Noscea is awesome. Dat dawn in Costa del Sol

Arcanist is Limsa. Also they moved the Musketeer Guild from where it was in 1.0 to the same building as the Marauders Guild. Hopefully they plan to add Musketeer in the not-too-distant future.

Made a cat because I don't plan on playing one in release. I still miss Mithra.

Gotta get that perfect snapshot!
This is the character I actually plan on playing to some extent, Gladiator is mad boring though.
Wannabe balthier with better chops.

Trying my best not to touch the meat of the game so I can savor it at the launch.

Oh, ok, didnt know that. A new class is what it needs. I assume lots of legacy players will try it.

Had plenty of fun this weekend. Met some good people. Thanks to Fate, I was able to level up consistently when there weren't any quests available.

I enjoyed the beta this weekend, my conjurer Raine Lyonaz was the tits!

Think I'm going to pre-order the game on GMG next month when closer to release.

Since the beta kinda came to a halt around lv32
Decided to jump back on my legacy character
Noticed all the mobs around uldha were linking with eachother?
The same mobs didn't do that in the new server at all
How can that be?

I can't beat the Magiteck Armour. I tried everything. I need to think about a strategy until next week-end.
Don't tank it
before it appears
Kill all the soldiers but don't touch the tank until the end
If ur fast enough, all ur NPCs will be healthy enough when the big guy pops

Managed to get my personal Chocobo and ride it a bit around just before the servers went down. Felt like a big fight against time, hunting down FATE to gain enough currency to buy the quest item.

Links only occur when you're facing a mob that's way lower than you. So yeah, if you're a 50 and attacking a lvl1 mob. . . You can bet you'll have the whole region linked against you lolol.

Had heaps of fun Friday and yesterday with my Archer, Alastor Goldhawk. Definitely gonna pick it up come release. Roll on Phase 4!

Any impressions from the Ps3 version? I wanted a good consol-mmo since PSO, i hope this will be it.

I'm on the PS3 version, in terms of control it's actually pretty decent. They did a great job for the most part, although some menus can be a little on the kludgy side I never found it unmanageable. Battles play just fine on a controller, never had any problems there.. Framerate though is....not good, particularly in Limsa Lominsa things get a bit soupy. I hope they can fix it but I don't hold out a lot of hope really. I'm sure the PS4 version will be a lot better.
