I need to do more dungeons past the first 3 (prettty hard on a legacy server) but people were getting wiped on the Ifrit fight...on a legacy server.
October 2012, people were wiping on Ifrit with pick up groups. Nothing strange there.

I did Brayflox twice this weekend. It's really easy. Not as easy as the level 15 dungeons, I guess, but it's still really easy. I tanked it on my GLD and our WHM was bored so I took off my armor and tanked in an Onion Doublet for the last boss. Still easy. We died more in Halatali (2 wipes lol) our first time than in Brayflox (0 wipes).
After years of playing FFXI... it's finally come back to this, eh?xD

Is it possible to craft unique gear? I still don't understand the point of crafting since you can buy everything.
Only registration codes are region specific I believe.
Well, Ifrit lvl 50 in 1.0 was tricky and I'd say quite hard until you did it a few times. Lvl 20 in ARR should be easy for anyone that did Ifrit at least a couple of times in 1.0.
Any impressions from the Ps3 version? I wanted a good consol-mmo since PSO, i hope this will be it.
The PS3 version looks like an HD remaster with inconsistent framerate and the pad controls are only functional when you're soloing, killing one monster at a time, without much strategy.
The graphics don't hinder the experience (IMO) but the controls obviously do. If the PS3 version accepts kb+m, then you should go for that.
I have a question about Gladiator vs Marauder tanking tho. I was a gld tank and there were two marauders and a healer with me. They were all a bit higher level them me and it seemed like I couldn't hold hate at all. The cone aoe they used earned more enemity then my flash and cure did. Does this mean Marauder's are better tanks or is that just because the level difference?

People are complaining its too difficult? That's certainly not been my experience. The only to I had trouble was with the Masked Mage, and even then it was just simple trial and error. I'll be very disappointed if they reduced the difficulty because of some whiners.
Not really important but anyone else feel at least solo storywise there is a lack of romance in this game?
Not a big deal for an MMO but for a Final Fantasy its noticeably lacking.

unlikely you will be able to buy everything in game from npcIs it possible to craft unique gear? I still don't understand the point of crafting since you can buy everything.
Overpower. A crazy spammable ability that a MRD can use. It works very well when you have a MRD as your only tank because of the AoE threat they can generate with a group. Having two and others that out level will make a huge difference. Don't let it discourage you. As you progress through the game you should less of this kind of setup and more of the traditional trinity setup with instances.
Level difference affects greatly basically everything. MRD seems like a better crowd control tank.
I didn't really notice it or think about it till the princess was first mentioned, then there is an encounter with an npc later on.You are right, and there will probably be some side-stories with a romantic plot, but any romance done in the game will come from the players themselves.
Is there anywhere I can see a full list of the dungeons and their levels/locations?
I'm hoping there are at least a new dungeon ever 5 levels or so or even more than 1 at each 5 level interval.
I only got as far as Halatali which was 20-22 range I'm guessing.

There's three(?) more after you can try out after Hala. It's getting to lvl 26 that's a little time consuming but with the right FATEs to camp, you should get there quick. Sorry I don't remember the names of them to the exact.
I think this next testing weekend is suppose to include the Duty Finder from what I've been seeing on the beta forums.
Cool thanks!
Yeah I'm hoping there is enough dungeon content in the game. Personally I like to take breaks from quests and grind out 2 or 3 levels through dungeons as I go.

I believe it's Thousand Maws of Toto-Rak (23), Haukke Manor (29) and Brayflox's Longstop (32).
What issues were you having with the pad controls? Was it just an issue with the PS3 version? I noticed no difference between the PS3 and PC pad controls. Both felt very responsive.
Not true. I did 1.0 endgame as all classes and had no issues and ARR's gamepad controls are far superior. With the addition of another hotbar (R2+L2) being added before launch it will be even better.
As Ravidrath said, they're planning to have 16 dungeons at launch, for this beta there's only 7:
- Sastasha Seagrot 15-17
- Tam-Tara Deepcroft 16-18
- Copperbell Mines 17-19
- Halatali 20-22
- Thousand Maws of Toto-Rak 23-25
- Haukke Manor 29-31
- Brayflox's Longstop 32-35
I had no idea they had so many dungeons in the beta. Very cool. I like how there's a dungeon every few levels so you'll have something to do if you run out of quests or just get bored doing them.
It'll get even better once the Duty Finder is in and we don't have to /shout like a certain 2001 era MMORPG just to get a party.
Have they said how extensive the Duty Finder will be? I know it'll be dungeons, and from the sound of it Guildleaves, and cross-realm...

haha, indeed. I do fear that the Duty Finder will make the community a bit more... silent, I guess. I mean, I loved the dungeon finder thing they introduced in WoW for ease of use and no more waiting around forever, but.. at the same time, it really made the server community a bit less important. If that makes any sense. xD But like I said, I am excited about the Duty Finder being in the game.
How is the instance finder going to work? Just automatic matchmaking?
That would suck so bad. I really despise what all those little features reduce mmos too. Something like a giant bulletin board where you could flag yourself for any number of missions or the like would be better. Then at least people would still have to speak to you before hand.

I hope the next session is a full week before they wipe. Gonna be gone for the 4th weekend.
I'm 3k seals away from my damn chocobo too.
Which chocobo do you mean? The Maelstrom one was 1,000 seals, at least last weekend.

Yeah.I dont think theres even going to be a romantic plot involving your character, especially when you will be able to marry other players.
Fastest place to get FATEs to level up/get seals is in South Shroud. Lots of level 20-30 FATE's happening all the time in close proximity to one another.

During battles, mostly if you need to switch between multiple targets it becomes a mess. I felt the minute I entered a party the pad control started to fall apart (I cannot fathom being in a supporting role). Not to mention all the basic stuff like typing and selecting the HUD items.

Do you get seals from GCs only if you do FATEs in their corresponding nation?
