The current gaming reality is cooperating with 3rd parties, having powerful systems and making games appealing to the core gaming audience instead of their own specific niche fanbase. If they were a software developer, their approach is fine but as a hardware developer you can't remain so closed off. If you aren't a fan of Nintendo games the console is literally worthless, but on Xbox One if I ain't a fan of Microsoft 1st parties there are many more titles for me to play. They already failed this generation in my eyes by releasing yet another gimmicky and underpowered system.
Mario Kart, Mario 3D World... You know... The games they've shown. Think about it... We've seen what Wii games can look like on Dolphin. Now, the Wii U can play Wii games natively due to hardware emulation. The Wii U doesn't need an i7 for a Dolphin-like boost because it doesn't have to run software to emulate Broadway... It essentially has three of them. Taking that into consideration, Nintendo's games thus far look like Wii code running on hardware that can display it at higher resolutions paired with better textures and reworked lighting... But honestly, I was being snarky with my original reply.Besides Wii Party and Pikmin 3, which games?
Oh well as a console manufacture I think they've failed spectacularly with Wii U I thought you were specificaly talking about games.
In the quite he explains why they didn't launch with it like they did the Wii.
I'm not seeing it in the quote? Where?
Mother U, a reboot, an open world RPG with Nintendo new secret vitality sensor. do it.
When it comes to Wii, as Wii Sports spread throughout the world at a sensational speed, some misunderstood that all Wii could do is enable them to play games by moving the Wii Remote. With Wii U, therefore, we planned to satisfy existing video game fans first and provide new surprises later.
Basically saying that by releasing Wii Sports first people only thought it could do motion controls and that's it. He's saying they released traditional games on the Wii U first to avoid confusion, and now the innovative games are coming.
That's what it says anyway, but I find it hard to believe that's the reason these games were released first. I do have faith they have something up their sleeve though.
my guess is that he is talking about the new game from the SM3DW makers, Miyamoto's new IP, Steel Diver F2P and HAL's Wii U project.
Mario Vs. X. You know Mario will be involved.
Behold the secret brand-new types of games!

That's the feeling I get too, but this would be an extraordinary lie for him to tell considering he's claiming they will be out this year. And so begins the Secret WiiU Game(s) japery.
Just more "please give us more time!!" excuses in a different form. Thats all this man seems to be nowadays.

Oh I'll give you hardware. But what Nintendo game clone has ever hurt the brand of the original? What idea has ever been so crazy that they needed to keep it a secret for as long as possible before release?Analog stick, rumble, shoulder buttons, triggers, motion controls, touch screen controlled gaming, etc.
Pokemon, Mario, SSB, Zelda, Wii Sports, Wii Fit, etc. Have all spawned clones that had varying degrees of success.
Although the only one I can think of that did it before them was the analog stick.
What would you be rebooting to?
Ah, I see now. That is such a botched way of doing things. Why wouldn't they just release those kind of games side by side. And I find it hard to believe that Nintendo Land, in all of its messy glory, wasn't apart of that original vision. But I guess we'll have to wait and see.........as usual with Nintendo and the Wii U. If it wasn't for the 3DS I would have really lost all hope for them.
Wii Fit U and Wii Party are the obvious choice, but those are still along the lunes of traditional games. Nintendo mentioned eralier this year that they were researching the possibility of cheaper games. It could be their f2p games or maybe even budget games. Pishmo and Dillon's Western Rolling were examples of that on the 3DS. Another example is NSLU with a price tag of $30.
I wouldn't be surprised to see games alobg the lines of Pokemon Snap using NFC or even going f2p just ti attract new customers. That may be the reason they don't plan to do a price drop. And "budget" games could mean cheaper games and less risk as they get used to HD development. We shall see.
It's in Wii Party U, right? It better be. I want those kinds of games.
Finally, Miyamoto's FPS will be unveiled.

They already mentioned Wii Fit U, and Wii Party.
I think we're getting new titles not mentioned yet from Retro, Next Level Games, and other 'dormant' studios(studios that just finished a game and haven't been attached to a new product yet).
I'd like to see Next Level Games take on a updated version of Star Tropics myself. =P
Don't get your hopes up, folks.we planned to satisfy existing video game fans first and provide new surprises later
Exactly. If Nintendo had some astonishing concept that would move the masses they would have launched with it. Not let their system languish for the last 6 months. Also let's not forget Iwata promised the exact same thing for the 3DS and said they were making new types of games to appeal to the casual audience and years later none of those games have surfaced. Many of Iwata's claims(learning from mistakes, it'll be different for sure) have ended up being bullshit.
Also I'm sure everyone is watching Nintendo waiting to copy them just like last year when obviously they were waiting to show off the Wii U OS so Sony and MS wouldn't copy their amazing 15 second OS loading features
Yeah, they're obviously doing it right. Attracting that huge audience of 33K in May in the US and 5K a week in Japan. It's clearly all according to the master keikaku. It's not really that botched. Xbox 360 did it with the Kinect. PS3 with the Move. Nintendo is just doing what the others are doing. Launch first and get the proper initial impression onto your audience, then you can get away with the "expanding the audience" much easier. Start out of the gate the wrong way and a huge audience will just look right past you.
