Roy should have retired after the Ruiz fight.. was never the same. It's sad to say that was a fucking decade ago, but it was.. and his prime was 20 years ago when he beat Hops, Toney and Tate.

I hope he's done, but I heard he was still looking for another fight.. after his horrible KO to Danny Green and the outright horrible KO against Lebedev.. it's sad. Just like if this was to happen again to Silva.

Yeah, and he has his ass handed to him by Spinks, Holmes, and fucking Trevor Berbick at the end of his career.

yup he shouldn't have...although roy/tarver 1 is probably my favorite fight of his simply because he showed he has heart, he has grit in him. I remember even HBO were questioning how Roy would act if he was tested...it took losing 20lbs of muscle weight and being gassed halfway through the fight and still eeked out the win with good rounds in the 11th and 12th.

and I hate how people say his legacy is now tarnished (same with Silva)...his losses now doesn't take away what he did in the past.

Everyone saying "Bones would've killed Silva" - Yeah he has all the tools, but Anderson wouldn't have fucked around like this with Bones.

Hey friend! At last a few things we can agree on! Though I would say Jones should've just stayed at Super Middle rather than Toney being the last of his Prime.

Edit:

Getting KO'd by Matt Serra is 100x worse than getting kO'd by Weidman. Bones is the GOAT.

Again! Something I can at last agree one with people I usually argue with!

UFC 162: Bringing folks together (but not in a family way as that's all Marrec) :X

Why? I mean, Anderson has been doing this for at least his last four fights now, not taking them seriously. So yeah, we can't complain about him doing it when he keeps doing it and drawing more and more people to each consecutive fight.

Plus, why take a break? TONS of talent in the UFC. Rather than stopping because an over-the-hill superstar took a nasty one to the chin, why not start going for the young guys who want to be there at 35? All I think when I think "No more Silva" is "Sweet, time for Bones and more."

Hey show hespect!

This sounds absolutely ridiculous... and well, I suppose it is BUT
Maybe Silva doesn't want to fight for the belt immediately because he wants Weidman to fight a few times, defend the belt, make a big name for himself before Silva comes back for a super-fight with him?

What fights are there left for Silva now? Jones beats him 9/10 times and GSP wants no part of him. Let Weidman build up a name for himself as champ. Silva can take time off to spend on his gym/family/acting - then come back for a super-fight?

There are some serious holes in this plan. Weidman will probably only get better and Silva will only get worse with time, but maybe Silva is confident.

This is such a strange win/loss. Obviously Silva just got caught, this shit happens when you fight a beat like Weidman and show boat, but I still think Silva (up until he got knocked the fuck out) looked like he could handle Weidman. He was stuffing his TD attempts in the 2nd pretty easily and in the first he was able to get up to him feet relatively quickly. At that point in the second when he was stuffing take downs it really looked like it was going to be a long frustrating night for Weidman.

I agree with this. Looks like silva just being silva. Just strange all around.

Fuuuuuuuuuuck. No chin can take that punch. That's a lights out for any fighter. Sloshes your brain real nice against your skull.

I think Silva could have if he wasn't faking he was dizzy on top of the swaying he normally does.

this angle showed it good

these two comments on bloody elbow had me dying:

You wanna fight Roy Jones Jr and you tried to be like Roy Jones Jr...
…. too bad you copied the current Roy Jones Jr and got your ass knocked out.

When Anderson hit the floor
All I could think was “Wow, he’s taking this clowning to a whole new level”

The 185 division will now go back to the sleepy times it once was in.
Most fights will look like tonights Boetsch/Munoz duel of the wrestling kind.

I don't think Anderson Silva has to wait for Weidman to build himself up. This fight has effectively done that. Weidman will be well-known as the dude who knocked Anderson Silva out cold (this wasn't even a TKO, it was a straight up KO).

The smartest thing for Anderson - financially, legacy-wise, etc - would be to go for an instant rematch. The hype and interest around the fight would be huge, and the two big superfights - vs GSP or Bones - have certainly lost some of their luster.

Another reason a rematch would be big is that a lot of people probably feel like Anderson didn't "really" lose since he was caught while showboating, so they'll tune in to potentially see him fight more seriously.

Anderson clowned directly into that punch because he was faking being hurt. Totally disrespectful to the sport. Should be an auto point deduction for acting like that.

Auto point deduction? That's a bit far fetched.

I dont think he threw the fight. He has done this kinda thing many times. Its how he KO'd Rich Franklin, or was it Forrest Griffin? I get those 2 guys confused for some reason.

He just got caught this time.

Non thing wrong with a little showboating to entertain the crowd, unfortunately he took it way to far and paid the price, that was a complete joke of a fight.

Champion : Anderson Silva
1 Chris Weidman (Interim Champion)
2 Vitor Belfort
3 Yushin Okami
4 Michael Bisping
5 Ronaldo Souza
6 Costa Philippou
7 Luke Rockhold
8 Mark Munoz
9 Chael Sonnen
10 Tim Boetsch

Weidman vs ???

What is Belfort up to? Do they give Bisping a title match now? USA vs England?

They're both trolls.

Nick Diaz tries to lower people to his level.

Anderson lowers himself to other peoples level, Weidman was actually keeping up with Anderson and he did not hespekt that and got caught.

You can take on Aldo for the 145 title when you're off TRT, Victor.

The fact that he lost the way he did, is bullshit, because it gives him and his fans a horrible excuse, "Well... if he would've tried he would win". Could you imagine saying that about a superbowl team? This is bad for the sport, epically if he gets a rematch immediately.

I wonder how much Dana had to pay those fighters to attach their names to made up quotes putting Weidman over?

I haven't followed MMA for a while and have no idea who Weidman is, but is he a legit contender or just another dude for Anderson to curb stomp?

Another suicide match.

Hope Weidman is getting a nice paycheck for this.

Cmon son

Whos buyin these Weidman wolftickets?

Who did he beat? Mark Munoz? Seriously

Cmon
Who the fuck doesn't beat Mark Munoz?

Silva by finish first or second round.

Sliva gonna win. UFC doesnt have the kind of talent to beat him. Silva is on another level

Silva will end it in round 1with his knees again.

I feel like we've heard these same arguments before...

Uncle dana: Who is Joe whiteman and why should I pay 60 bucks for this?

If this whiteman wins does he or father time deserve credit for the win?

He'll be a can after Silva beats his face in during round 1.

And when Anderson squashes him you're all going to just pretend none of this happened and make Weidman a can retroactively and say Anderson still hasn't beaten anyone. The MMA-GAF Anderson Silva cycle.
.

I dont remember the last time Sherdog exploded after a fight like this.

When Fedor lost to Werdum.

It was the same thing, too. A bunch of haters on one side saying they had been right all those years about Fedor being "totally overrated", and a bunch of fanboys on the other side mystified by the arrogance that Fedor showed by willingly hopping into Werdum's guard like that.

And the cycle continues....

He can do that easily. Who is going to stop him? Gustafson? Machida (lol)?

No maybe not but if DC drops then we may have a different story. I think JBJ has the best shot at beating Silva's record and being the GOAT. I hope JBJ learns from Silva's loss and doesn't act too cocky in his next fight and fights.

I'm not convinced AS would win the rematch because I don't think he has it in him anymore and CW is a tough match up for him regardless.

after that initial take down, he was controlling the fight pretty much. the question is if AS can get the motivation to train hard and fight hard. He just looked disinterested tonight. Called it during the fight, and then his speech afterwards.

He should retire or rematch first before fighting someone else.

it eventually happens to everyone

wish he lost in a fight that he wasnt messing around in though, i know its part of his strategy but if he would have been fighting technical instead of showboaty mindgames it might not have happened, even though weidman was winning the rounds anyway

I thought Fedor was overrated before the fight with Werdum and I thought he had a little trouble with AA and Rogers.

The thing is that if Silva rolls that last punch, then Chris is put in an extremely bad position in terms of balance and angling.
