Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | July 2013 | Slow Month, Fast Games

Other than senran kagura, tales games, pso2 etc there are many overlooked japanese games that could be interesting:

I'm a big Super Robot Wars, but unfortunately the chances of Masou Kishin 3 being localized are so low that if I had to chose a percentage I'd put it in the negative.
It's the third game in a very story-heavy series, and the first two games came out on PSP. Can't see them localizing these, and since it's a side-series (to SRW Original Generation) that doesn't sell that much even in Japan, so I don't see them trying to push for a EU/US release.

there is a privacy thing on near, so it says around 50 in my area, but I can only click on the profile on a dozen or so, and I also noticed sometimes the range on the radar changes? perhaps if it can't find that many in the immediate area it will increase the range

Correct me if I am wrong, but I was under the impression that the Super Robot Wars games dont come to the US because of licensing issues? I would love to get those games, as they look pretty fantastic, but it sounds like it would be a nightmare trying to collect all of the Licenes in the US, and probably not worth the effort unfortunately.

Now the gundam games I really dont understand, but I suspect its probably an assumption on the part of Bamco that they just would not sell. I guess I could always import those if need be though.

Is this the first we hear of this? Sounds like shovelware but it may be good for a few lols.

That is...uhhh...something.

It came out in November last year in Japan. I'd be much more excited if Open Me comes out - that one looks genuinely fascinating.

From what I understand there are several lines of SRW games that don't use licensed characters.

Bandai never managed to achieve much success with Gundam in NA other than with Gundam Wing. Since they've now largely pulled out NA anime distribution biz, it seems unlikely they'll bother with any Gundam games, and they're to protective of the property to ever license it to others.

Online games PSO2 require complex server infrastructure and constant coordination with Japan for updates and new content, so they're not really suitable for this kind of initiative. If it's coming over, Sega needs to do that one itself.

...should probably repeat his request that we don't draw too much attention to it outside this thread.

What? You must have dreamt that one up.

Let's try not to draw attention to this as requested :P
I havent' said nothing outside this thread, there are posts about someone's post in the same page and lots in the previous one, why you say these only to me? :(

For some reasons I get like 30-40 people everytime but somehow I highly doubt there's so many, unless the range is like the whole region or something.
Yeah, I get like 30+ people too. I do live in a big city but Near says everyone is within a few miles and this area is mostly residential.

My interview with Muteki Corporation's Adam Rippon just went live. In it, we discuss Dragon Fantasy Book II, Book III, the Ps4, and the possibility of DLC in the future.

http://youtu.be/v3_jbOyeI5g

Awesome, Im going to watch it asap. Did they comment on how successful Book 1 was for them? I enjoyed the first game, and am looking forward to book 2, so I hope they have had a good experience on PSN.

So they confirmed Unicorn bombed here? Its such a shame, because I love the Gundam universe, and it sucks that they gave up on it seemingly for good at this point in the west. I can always import since the games released dont seem to require allot of reading to play, but I would have loved to play them in english.

The fact that they never bothered with the PS3 games, is insta death for Vita localizations though, even if I do believe the majority of the people who currently own Vitas would buy into some Gundam games.

Been playing Unit 13 courtesy of PS+. It looks like such shit on the surface, but there's actually a pretty good game underneath that personality-barren exterior. I like the mission-based structure of it; gives the game a sort of arcadey, one-more-try quality. There's definitely some addictive, trial and error value to be had in trying again and again to 5 star a mission, and when you finally pull it off... yeahhhhh!

Straight up 7/10 game. Completely unremarkable, but solid.

I wish the Vita had access to a larger selection of apps like the ones available on iOS and android. I have a pretty great selection of games now, so that's just about the only thing I'm missing.

So... Aabs Animals it's a tamagotchi kind of thing, maybe...

Seems pretty dumb.

I want a Hulu Plus app like they promised over a year ago. I also want the Netflix app to be updated. Video quality is great but the interface needs to be much faster, and they need to get rid of the tiles they you move left and right between on TV shows like the old Netflix interfaces had. It's slow. It's clunky. Vita and Roku have the only Netflix apps that still have navigation like that, so far as I know. It also needs the auto-play of tv shows feature that a lot of Netflix apps have now. It's really nice.

I am LOVING Earth Defense Force 2017 on the Vita.

I played the crap out of it on the 360 back when it first came out and it makes a perfect handheld game. Average levels are pretty short and there are dozens of them.
Plus they seem to have added a lot of new weapons, although I haven't actually found a new one I like to use (a lot seem more useful if used in Multiplayer).

I'm close to finishing it on easy and I can't wait to unlock the Pale Wing and play as her.

Only thing I wish the game had was accelerometer assisted aiming like Uncharted and Gravity Rush have. Thankfully you don't need careful aim in this game, but I'm not the biggest fan of the Vita stick for for aiming in shooters. They feel like they have a lot let movement to them compared to the 3DS slider and they also seem to have a kinda large deadzone (larger than I'd like). Makes it harder for me to do slow, precise aiming.

I do have some stick covers coming in the next week, so hopefully having concave sticks will help me out.

Gundam Unicorn was done Japanese style, with a limited print run and a high price point. It was never meant sell to anyone but the hard core. So it didn't bomb as such, but is a sign that Sunrise has given up on achieving mass market success for Gundam in the west.

...sigh. I can't seem to beat mission 3. :(

Don't take it personally. You was probably picked out because your reply was the last one on the matter. It's like people got to talk about it and it was time to leave it at that. It was mostly random that the focus was on you :)

Well, got my thumbstick covers today. I thought the hardest part was opening the blasted package. Then 10 minutes of fidgeting arou d on the stick, still nothing, THey seem great though! soft bendy silicon, just need to get them to stick. Will return with updates.

PS - That Armored Core type PSN JP game looks sick. Definitely need things like that in US, and I don't feel like rebuying all the PSP Armored Cores again.

Who here has NFS MW? I need some friends who have the game.

I do and I love it so no you can't be my friend, sorry! ----> There is a bug when you add too many players in that it starts mini-freezing all the time! Once you add one or two it will start to recommend you a lot of friends of friends, don't go over 15 or so, it gets very easy to do so.

Hopefully someone else with less friends than me will add you!

In fact, I really like the game and I want to play online without the freezes so I will start deleting people I've added just for a while, sorry if I delete you I have a terrible memory with names and a lot of people I add are randoms from single play sessions online that send me a request. If I've made a mistake and you see me disappear from your list, please re-add and I'll accept.

So silly as it happens whenever you cross a billboard or speed camera, of which there are loads. It happens with security gates too I think. I assume it's pulling your friend list stats each time, and doesn't save any locally -_-

If I delete enough and get the freezes to stop and I see you post again about it I will send you a pm.

You know, I still haven't played that game online at all. We should play sometime soon.

I have lost my drive to play Persona 4:Golden after 63 hours. I want to beat the game, but goddam the dungeons are tiresome. Same layout with different sprites. It is a shame since the rest of the game is so freaking awesome and has such a good pacing. I'm currently in the month of November, can anyone tell me how close I am to beat the game? And btw I even tried to take a break from the game, but every time I come back I just can't keep playing since I'm in the middle of a dungeon. Any tips to improve my experience?

That would be great, there are a few games I want to play online more and of course best with vitagaf:

Sonic Racing Transformed
PSASBR - please guys, you won't have more
NFS:MW
EDF 2017 - haven't tried it once, not even Unit 13's, if that's still up

LBP - just need to sift through my level download list and the campaign again so I remember the funnest levels for MP
MotoGP 13 - (wipeout is too hard to be fun in MP most of the time imo, but this is perfect and in-game voice chat with button-press so don't need to bother with party chat, not that it's much effort anyway). I know it's not out in US...and apparently might not come out. They're waiting to see how it does I think.

And once I get a bit better, Everybody's Golf (and VT4 if it has online).

Hopefully Dragon's Crown will have decent online too as that should be most fun online for me.

Let's play more together guys. Party chat should be safe. I'm up for any of those tonight.

Also, generally to save some potential hassle:

All people need is to have (on your router port forwarding page) ports 3478-3480 for tcp+udp protocol on your Vita's IP (network ->status in the vita settings app) open.

^ That will help with most multiplayer games. Make sure NAT status is at least Type 2 (also in network status in the settings app, it's right at the bottom of the status list).

Sometimes people can still connect online without special settings as they manage to connect to people with really open settings. Opening these ports will help with all mp gaming really.

December is the last proper month. Anything after that is an extra, assuming you maxed out social link for
Marie
you can do an extra dungeon.

Depending on your choices in December and then later in the game you may or may not be able to get true ending
and the final dungeon.
I would look at a guide if you are unsure.

Thanks for the quick reply. Since I'm so close to beating it, I guess I'll stick with it and try to beat it this week.

I'll put it in spoilers just in case.
It depends because there are multiple endings, true end, good end, three bad ends and a new semi bad end.

You'll very soon get to choose between getting one of the bad ends (which effectively cuts off two dungeons and about 3-4 in-game months of gameplay and it doesn't really resolve the story at all) or continuing en route to the third bad end, as well as good and true.

For the full package you will want to get the true ending (encompasses the final dungeon as well as a full resolution of the story) but that's probably around another 25-30h of gameplay (including two dungeons).

Wait what? Another 25-30 hrs. for the true ending? This is certainly a very long game, no way I'll finish it this week.

Ok, ten minutes of using a toothpick got the stick covers installed no problem. I got the set that comes with 6 different stick covers, and I ended up using the set that resembles a 360 stick. They become more flat than convex or concave, but they definitely make an improvement. I loaded up SSD to test it out, and ended up playing for longer than I wanted, but I think that is because it's been so long since I have played the awesomeness of SSD. These covers are great, well worth the price, and buying two sets was worth it to get matching stick covers.

No matter how I cleaned it, dust always shows up in the flash. what I got

That hot internal Japanese Vita support zzzz

I think you should spend another 10 minutes on cleaning it properly

Nah, that's just how glossy black electronics look most of the time with a flash.

I think you should spend another 10 minutes on cleaning it properly

Yea, I cleaned it before application, then again after. Looks beautiful from head on, but that flash brings out the horrors.

I hope that they're the same ones I just bought 2-packs of off Amazon. I hate my ABS plastic ones... not enough grip.

I believe you will like these. These are made by KMD, and has 6 stick covers and 2 dpad replacements. The dpads are hard plastic, but the stick caps are nice a siliconey material. My advice for applying - slide one side on, then like others have said elsewhere, use a toothpick to slide the edges the rest of the way. A little rough to do at first, but I love them.

PLUS - the sticks still slide in quite nicely in to my PDP Pull and Go Folio. The Vita slides in from the top, and the recessed areas for the sticks are just large enough to accommodate the caps.. Definitely a good buy!

Nah, that's just how glossy black electronics look most of the time with a flash.

I like these 360-style ones, but I think they raise the analog sticks just a little TOO much and make reaching the face buttons and dpad a little more difficult:

These Gamecube-style ones are perfect IMO:

Uh, wow. Yours are like mine, only all the definition of the raised things on the caps are MUCH more defined. Yours look like actual 360 sticks. Mine feel flat, and 4 raised "dots" that are trying to be like yours. Not to mention my bullseye aka Gamecube style sticks have more circles, but they aren't as raised. I am jealous as heck, but then again I am happy with what I have. Perhaps down the road I'll look at replacements.

Edit - and uh yea, sorry for the double post. All me windows are getting all mixed up.

I think the concave covers more.

Bluecell Cross set is pretty fantastic and have all type of them anyway for all tastes.
