Does anyone have any advice for finishing Duty, Honor, Country as a Thaumaturge?

I can't for the life of me finish the second phase. It's nearly impossible at lvl 15 to take on the gargoyle dude. Am I missing something or do I just need to level up more?

Best thing you can do on this quest is to run to Limsa Limosa and become a Conjurer to get Cure at level 2. Add that spell to your Thaumaturge and that battle won't be hard in the slightest bit. Potions are a bad way to go because the cool down on them is way too long.

Do any of you guys have questions for the development team? I'll be conducting an interview tomorrow and would love to incorporate some of your questions!

how do i get a chocobo mount? like for my own personal use. no porter or renting.

Progress the main story until you join a Grand Company. Then, buy a personal chocobo for 1,000 company seals (can do FATEs and GC Leves to get them).

Here's some new screenshots I took today:

In one of the level 30~ dungeons; very pretty area:

Cool looking dragon:

Costa del Sol is seriously one of my favorite locations in the game so far:

Catching some sun:

This area would be a great place for Linkshell meet-ups. Lots of sitting area! :P

They should really add a NPC Barkeep here, though. Looks a bit weird without one:

So yeah, as you can tell, love that area. :)

The only complaint I have enough this game is that I'm having a hard time finding quests, but that just might be my own fault.

I've been having to stick to leves for the majority of levels 16-19.

When I get a new Main Scenario quest unlocked ill it pop up in my journal or do I have to go seek it out?

I'm currently level 19 and the last Main Scenario I had was level 15. Is that normal?

I haven't even gotten past level 11 yet because I've made multiple characters so I could see how the story plays out in each starting city. Ul'dah has major FFXII vibes, love the place.

I would love to know if there will be crafted gear comparable to dungeon/raid (or whatever it's gonna be called in this) gear. I want to make stuff, but there's no point if I'm just making things that are the same as quest reward or vendor stuff.

you're lost. have you finished any of the dungeons?

Was fortunate enough to get an invite tonight. Register a Square-Enix account, and when I try to enter my beta key, it tells me it is already registered. WTF. :(

I would like to know if more dye colors will be coming. It's disappointing there's no good red color, and no black.

Also, ask about gear previewing with shift click and more details on vanity slots.

And yeah, I would like Samurai to be a job too :D.

the fact you can't dye unique gears seem stupid. Almost everyone will be wearing unique armors while they are grinding in dungeons.

I understand not dying for "real unique" armors like AFs, but just simple lvl 15 gears should be able to change colors.

I was really hoping that you could dye artifact, too. The Monk set would look amazing in white.

I understand if you don't want to get too serious on them, but if I could talk to them I would ask them a lot about the philosophies in place now.

The most important question for me personally is if they have any content planned that will give players incentive to explore the world with their friends. If a group of players does not feel like following the story or entering instances, are there any PvE adventures for them to go on and maybe acquire a special piece of equipment that they wouldn't encounter on the main path? They've mentioned that NMs are too stressful for casual players, but I think it's worth bringing up that the Duty Finder works around this issue. Even the most casual player will not be locked out of content because the Duty Finder is not looking at his gear when it puts him into a party.

In FFXIV, Summoners do not have access to the full power of the creatures (Primals) that they're summoning - the full power of the Primals is being left for another mechanic. Understanding this, many players have still expressed the desire for a slight increase in the size of the Summoner job's companions. Are any compromises being considered, like increasing the size to something in between?

ARR has drastically improved the level of detail within each of Eorzea's zones, but the continent has understandably become smaller as a result. The distance between the three starting cities feels rather small. Can we expect to see the realm expand before any expansions are released, or will the updates be filling in the areas as we know them?

Are there any plans to turn the airship that travels between cities into an actual ship for players to board, or has it always been intended to be a teleporting mechanic?

That kind of stuff is mostly annoying on fights like Ifrit. Moving out of one of those plumes or cracks in the ground is not a guarantee that you will avoid getting hit. It doesn't matter too much on a fight like that which isn't terribly hard, but if it still does that in the end-game raids, that's going to lead to people dying when they really shouldn't have.

I can't figure out how to unlock them. I know where they're located and see them in the Duty Finder but it says I need a pre- requisite

yo missed something. the main story quest isn't a super long breadcrub quest so you must seek out the next one.

I usually open up the big map (M). it will display all the quests you haven't accepted yet. the minimap doesn't

EDIT: the quests might be hiding in your Journal too. if they're not ticked, they wont show up on the active duty list.

When I'm doing GC Leves or am running a dungeon, occasionally I get hit by AE effects while being out of the red circle of death. I don't like it.

Related to this, classes need to get stuns earlier. Obviously you don't want all encounters to be trivialized via stun rotation, but when I'n level 32 without a stun, something seems a bit off.

Does anyone know how to rank up in a Grand Company beyond Sergeant First Class?

I'm guessing it's not implemented for phase 3 and is story related. I'm at the same rank and wanted to go higher.

Considering the high end gear for that rank is level 40ish, I imagine it'll be later 30s before you can do whatever it is they want to prove yourself.

A lot of people unhappy about the inclusion of Lightning.

If there is enough fan outcry, is there any hope of having her excised from the game at this point and replaced with an original character? Or will we need to suffer through this for a while?

Ah, I kinda thought as much since the receptionist was so vague about "proving yourself" or whatever. I figured I'd check here just in case before trying to go on a wild goose chase trying to do the second level of the GC hunting log. :P

Doesn't hurt to ask about their plans for more dye colors, but, uh, black dye exists. It's with the shades of grey.

Oh is it? Hmm, maybe it's just not on the vendor I was looking at or it isn't called "Black" and I couldn't find it.

But yeah, I'd like more colors. A deep red like scarlet would be nice for robes.

"Surely it will fit into the lore, it's not a cash-grab!"

Ask this right before you ask them about Summoner, lol.

I don't see the problem.

Try queuing thunder after blizzard. Casts the same spell over again. 1/4 of the time umbral ice doesn't register.

The game does seem unresponsive at times.

If I mash the key for a different spell from the previous one cast (i.e. going from Blizzard to Lightning), I'll often get the original spell name popping up, but it still casts the spell I was going for. I'd guess if you're not getting Ice/Fire that often you're having serious lag issues, or it's a bug.

Ask them why pet's dont have an attack command and have to wait for you to attack a monster first. They don't even attack if something hits you.

I think you have to complete a quest for it which isn't in the beta.

That's a good question to ask the developers JLeack. is the AoE ring a latency thing or is it simply not representative of the actual size?

It's latency. There's a huge thread about it in the beta forums. Basically, there's a great deal of lag which is caused by the server, even if you are outside the ring well in advance of the cast bar filling, you can still get hit by it. It's probably at least 1-2 seconds delay, which is much greater than your Internet lag to the server, so it has to be the server's problem.

I should pay closer attention and see if that's the case. I have done transpose a few times after casting blizzard - within the ten second time frame of umbral ice- and it's "had no effect". I can understand heavy not working on some monsters but not umbral or astral effects.

Maybe it's a fluke.

I would like to know if they are going to update the craft system so you can constantly make one item instead of having to go back to the menu each time. Or be able to craft bulk items.

But as for a non-request question: Did they ever consider a Wii U port? Or does Nintendo have a similar policy to Microsoft in regards to crossplatform online multiplayer? Or is it simply not advanced enough to possible?

I also wonder if there was a morale issue with having to redo FFXIV after the widespread negative criticism that the original received or if it just motivated the team to work harder.
