Let's talk about The Order:1886 characters models....

yeah and maybe the ready at dawn can always improve it! Anyway maybe they are not perfect but sure superior to any other characters next gen seen until now (not counting the dark sorcerer of course...) ^^

What? OP claims nothing touch The Order 1866's models, so someone posting a picture of a supposedly better or comparable model is absolutely valid and within context. If it wasn't all we would have is circle jerking discussions, and these are the worst.
 
I have a question, and I'm going to use TLoU as an example. Those are some of the best looking cutscenes I've ever seen, but they are "pre-rendered." Is that the same as "in-engine"? It's clear that once you exit cutscenes and go in-game the characters get a bit of aliasing and lose some of the detail. (while still looking amazing)

So does pre-rendered = in-engine?

I think Quantum Break is up there. So far it has the best hair to me.

Actually, it won't be happen if the character (including clothing) are not tessellated. It comes to down asset prioritization which happens to be a part of how polys will be expended for a give character. Plus in motion, unless you're picking apart frame by frame for what you may consider as flaws, it would go unnoticed.

That I agree with but I had hoped people would "discuss" instead of posting a picture and being done.

Depends on the dev in question, and how loose they're being with the jargon.
 
if Physcho had a 'tasch then it would be ok? =) I still think that the crysis 3 models are better, are here now & run at a native res. Thats just me though.

Maybe, maybe the faces are, but the clothing in The Order is of an objectively higher quality, at least in textures.

But when i mean "nothing can touch them" i mean the complexity in every aspect, clothes and geometry especially, and, at least for me, crysis 3 don't have comparable clothes and overall same quality about characters. This can't change that is a incredible piece of graphics (crysis 3)

IIRC, in the pre-rendered cutscenes, cinematic (on demand) lighting, anti-aliasing and DoF are introduced resulting in the portrayal of in-game models to have a significantly higher fidelity. I am talking about ND only of course because they categorically stated that they used the same model for both cinematics and gameplay for Uncharted series and by reasonable extension, TLoU.

In fact, here are two gifs that show just how high fidelity the in-game models are if they were not burdened with poor image quality and allied with a few post processing effects:

Imagine if graphical design hadn't been held back for the last 8 years by mediocre technology in the current generation consoles. The GPUs in the PS4/Xbone are mid-range current gen GPUs/CPUs and the jump in quality is astonishing.

Still pulling for a The Last of Us port for PS4 next year.

Yes, but the game also doesn't have to scale.
The result was that it's one of the only ps3 games with decent image quality.
No scaling artifacts ,almost no shimmering etc.

Black bars are poison on pc but on the weak ass ps3 it was a blessing considering the alternative.

There's a behind the scenes video of TLoU where they show the stepwise process of creating a cutscene. Every time they show the "lighting pass" I have to do a double take. Too bad PS3 is an old pile of crap.

Their suits are so lulzy. [lets not mention visible shitty polygons]. Suits from Order look and feel like it is real leather and cloth, rendered separate from the bodies of the characters [same as Kojima is doing with MGS5]. Multiple layers of cloth, all interacting and looking gloriously.

-AO halo of SHIT around his head, poor AO implementation like far cry 3?
-I can count the straight lines and angles on the top of his head
-oh look a bald space muhrine, no hair = not next gen
-I thought crysis 3 characters looked incredibly creepy and uncanny valley, especially the woman
-large quality gap between the head model/textures and the torso and clothes model and textures, kind of fourth wall breaking inconsistencies that break the mass effect games

Idk why you keep quoting that ugly uncanny head in so many threads Dennis.
 
RAD did a good job on their first AAA title on a console, I enjoyed their PSP games a lot. As far as graphics goes its between this and The Dark Sorcerer really:

Although TDS is a tech demo, QD always deliver, their games look better than their demos.
 
I honestly think it's too early to talk about this game graphically... we really have no idea what it actually is, or what we're looking at.

And many devs throw around "realtime" too willy-nilly imo.

there is only this trailer but it's all in game.

The textures on the clothes really take me out when I stare at them, 1886 just seems to be all around more consistent I think with the quality. But I do like the faces and eyes quite a bit in Crysis 3.
