Let's talk about The Order:1886 characters models....

The textures on the clothes really take me out when I stare at them, 1886 just seems to be all around more consistent I think with the quality. But I do like the faces and eyes quite a bit in Crysis 3.

Why does it seem as though everyone in Crysis 3 is gawking at the player? I'm standing right here, stop staring!

My biggest issue with Crysis 3's character skin shader is its excessive amount of sub surface scattering giving them a wet look not to mention the highly detailed pores. That model has enough polygonal detail but the lighting still is not right.

RAD needs to inflitrate Capcom and ninja-steal their particle tech. That "granade launcher" flame explosion was the only bad part of the Order trailer.

Its 2005 all over again, cant wait to see people reactions when the actual games are released.

Do you really think Sony is that stupid? Take a look at Delsin's model in inFamous, which is an open world game, now imagine what a developer can do if they're making a linear game on the PS4. That's what The Order is. There's nothing unrealistic about those models as far as them being possible on the console.

...

Those aren't strands... Those are transparent high poly planes. Smoothed, with what looks like a simple pre-calculated cloth simulation on them. Not dissimilar to tactics employed on the PS3/360. Just with more polygons to spare. Unless those strands are weighted to move in clusters that is. I see about five or six strands moving along the same route in unison.

Those two are banging each other.

IMO, they are all part of one family. Galahad looks very similar like the old warrior, and all three of the young ones could be his children. They all have family wibe to me.

Also the name of the game suggest that some ancient order is in the center of the game. Their powers may be present only in one family.

there is only this trailer but it's all in game.

"We also strived to create a seamless experience when it came to the game. The idea was to make sure that you never saw any visual discrepancies or breaks in continuity between gameplay and cinematic. Our game models and our cinematic models are one and the same, and everything is rendered real time in the engine as you play the game. The trailer we presented is a great example of that. What you saw is running in-engine, in-game with no gimmicks. These visuals are what you can expect of the final game when you play it."

So all we have is there word that is will look 100% the same in game? Every E3 & every console launch we get stuff that turns out to be bullshots. I'm not saying this will the case here as at least the video of it is only 720 & it will be great if that is what it looks like just untill we get some gameplay video's we should try & stay grounded. I'm going to leave now as I do not want to come across as being troll bait, I'm still only a junior ;)

-AO halo of SHIT around his head, poor AO implementation like far cry 3?
-I can count the straight lines and angles on the top of his head
-oh look a bald space muhrine, no hair = not next gen
-I thought crysis 3 characters looked incredibly creepy and uncanny valley, especially the woman
-large quality gap between the head model/textures and the torso and clothes model and textures, kind of fourth wall breaking inconsistencies that break the mass effect games

Idk why you keep quoting that ugly uncanny head in so many threads Dennis.

THat isnt an AO shadow behind his head.. it is an arifact of the depth of field technique. All sprite based bokeh that is not double precision will do this.

Plastic-y eyeballs, robotic face, and golf-hole-sized pores = GRAPHICAL FIDELITY

That is literally the scan of some dudes face. It is not unrealistic to have pores like that. The actor's face looks like that.

Also... the game uses a realistic model for eyes that includes depth and parallax to the lighting inside them not just bouncing off the outside.

The game has character tesselation.. why does that screen not have it though?

up-close faces can be pretty porey!

I think Crysis 3 looks spectacular and has amazing texture work for the skin and faces; but obviously, there still some work to go to be beyond the uncanny valley there. That said, I don't think The Order is quite beyond that valley either.

All that measured, there is something somewhat more natural about the faces in The Order, and I definitely think if it's real-time it's among the best looking games of all time.

I don't know why Crysis 3 characters (especially Pyscho) always get brought up in these kind of threads, they look average imo and look like wax dummys in the actual game.

uncanny valley: the game?

the order screens look very good, but let's wait till we know if it is really ingame or "ingame".

Ready At Dawn claim that the models they use for cutscenes or cinematics are one and the same with those used for in-game, but I do agree that expectations should be tempered before we see someone behind the wheel.

I'm talking about this thread. The models aren't jaw dropping by any stretch of the imagination.

for me they are, clothes and details especially. I never see anything like this, and i play on pc and ps3 from a while. It's the only game with cg vibe seen by me, until now...surely we'll have better characters on the road, i can't say no!

I agree, maybe it's the setting of the game that "helps" ?

I have many many doubts that The Order will look anything like that trailer when we actually play it.
Here's hoping though.

The Crysis tech demos are indeed impressive. I just wish Crytek would do something exciting with their tech. Will EA be using Cryengine for some actual games in the future?

Also, hard to judge The Order as the screens are so dark. But it looks very nice and can only improve. :)

Daym. It seems Guerrilla at least didn't forget about the textures on the clothes. Learn from the masters Crytek. ;)
