Wii U Games 2013

Can I offscreen to the gamepad and then play with a pro controller? D:

I can't think of a game that supports both that doesn't let you do this. From my collection Tekken Tag 2, AC III, Warriors Orochi 3 (splitscreen too on gamepad screen), Sonic Racing, Injustice, Darksiders II and Black Ops 2 (Treyarch let you use the Wii Remote with the sensor bar in the gamepad) all allow you to do that. Arkham City supports off-TV but not Pro controller because if you play on the TV there are a bunch of gamepad controls.

Why? Really? A link to new footage in a WiiU games thread?

Just doing my bit to keep realistic expectations to the forefront for when they deliver Vroom ;)

But he linked to an article, which explains that it's PC footage. If he had linked directly to the video then I may have agreed with you.

I might actually bite onto a WIi U this July or August.

New Super Mario Bros. is a given but after an initial disappointment of Super Mario 3D World it's actually VERY appealing to me, and I fell in love with 3D Land as soon as I saw a kid play it. Add to that, that Wind Waker HD looks beautiful and I'm looking into giving it another chance, while Super Smash Bros 4 is THE game I'm looking forward to.

I'm no longer sure about The Wonderful 101 but Pikmin 3 should hold me over for weeks. In fact it's enough alongside Wind Waker HD and 3D World for this year. Then next year will bring Mario Kart 8, Super Smash Bros 4 and Bayonetta 2 so far.

Oh, forgot about Sonic Lost World, The Legend of Zelda and Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate.

Yup, I think I'll go Sony/Nintendo next-generation.

Can Wii U play both Gamecube and Wii games? Cause I didn't get around games like Luigi's Mansion, F-Zero, Skyward Sword, Galaxy 2 etc.

Be sure. Believe.

It can't play Gamecube, it just plays Wii games. Also you may be one of the group of people like me who really like off-TV play. So that's something else you may want to take into consideration.

Nah off-TV Play doesn't speak to me, especially seeing I'm probably moving into a 1-room apartment within a year. But great idea from Nintendo though.

Why especially? Doesn't that make it MORE appealing as you could likely keep playing all over your apartment?

Well it would be a ONE-room apartment in which a TV would be there. I wouldn't have a need to play when I go to the toilet or kitchen.

Just got this thing (I actually got one on Dec but died and got a full refund) and I have to say I'm pretty happy with it. I love it, there's something about Nintendo I will never be able to get from Sony/MS and that's local multiplayer with my kids, Nintendoland is amazing already put over 30 hours on that thing, just so much fun. Tankx3 is also great and so is Rayman.

I wish lego had multplayer D:

You say this now, but hey, I often play off-tv while sitting at my desk, or even lying on my couch right in front of my TV.

This. I played most of NSMBU on my couch on the gamepad, the same place I'd typically play on my TV. Off TV play is something you'll tell yourself you'll never use until you actually use it.

Game list is now down to this. Nintendo Land, NSMBU, ZombiU, Lego City Undercover, and Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate. Was able to sell Ninja Gaiden 3 for $20 to Amazon today. Not bad since that was a game I got for $30 from ToysRUS when I bought it along with Mario in a buy one get one half off deal last year. Came close to parting with ZombiU but couldn't do. The concept is just to interesting and I do want to finish one of these days. I at least finished NG3 and didn't enjoy it much at the end.

I might have to back out of getting Splinter Cell. Honestly I don't want to waste the $60 if there is a chance I might not like it (it being a stealth game) or there won't be enough people to play online. Not getting it just adds to the lack of online players to. :( Can't always count on reselling it either to get a good chuck of the money back. I've been very lucky with the few games I've gotten rid of since launch. Don't expect that luck to hold out. So waiting for games to hit a lower price when they aren't absolute must buys needs to happen.

Will make my choice as we get closer to release.

Guys, I really want to buy Starfox 64 since I can use my Club points. Problem is then it'll end up like F-Zero which I couldn't play without the Wii Classic controller.

Do I need to buy a Wii Classic pro or whatever the fuck they're called, or can I just buy the Wii U fancy standard controller and play N64 games from the Wii VC?

This may be a dumb question, but do I need the sensor bar from my wii in order to play in wii mode on the wii u? Or is that built into the system somehow?

IIRC it's included in the Premium pack of Wii U in Europe (I don't think it is in Japan or NA). You do need a sensor bar. Wii's sensor bar is identical to the one that comes with Wii U.

EDIT: Okay it does come with sensor bar in all SKU's in NA. My bad.

Sorry the Wii U Pro Controller doesn't work with any Wii software. Classic controllers are pretty cheap (just saw it on Amazon for $15) and you can use them for quite a few Wii U games, Monster Hunter 3U, Tekken Tag 2, Warriors Orochi 3, Black Ops 2, Injustice and Sonic Racing. Great for multiplayer.

Ah, well thanks for the information! Good to know :) There's like a billion possible control options for Wii U and Wii. I fully expect Nintendo's next console to have NES ports on it!

So a friend of mine just called me saying he bid on some broken/dead WiiUs and have 3 working gamepad off it for sale, he is asking around 70 for each, I think I'll buy all 3. Question is, do those thing work just like any controller, meaning I'd just have to sync them to my console and they should work, correct?.

You "might" be able to sync more than one gamepad at once, but you certainly can't use more than one at any given time. If you're buying them for multiplayer, stop, because you're making a big mistake. If you want them to scatter around your house, then maybe you could get away with it.

I just want them in case mine stop working (kids like to drop stuff!) and/or if Nintendo finally start supporting multiple gamepads for multi :O

Thanks for the input.

Edit: Btw I was wondering, my Nintendoland game came w'o a CN slip, is that normal?, does the Deluxe set version just not give coins?.

This is actually how I play most games and it is great, as I don't want to wear the pad much, plus the pro controller is better, although the gamepad is great too, don't get me wrong. I have tried this with:

CoD Black Ops 2, works
AC3, works
NSMBU: works but the sound does not come from gamepad, just TV (fix this Nintendo!!)
Sonic ASRT, works
Trine 2, does not work
VC games worked, Super Metroid, Punch Out, Fzero

If you like that style look at my earlier reply to see all the games I've tried it with.

Obviously looks amazing, but I want to throw them props for the sound too, best sound in a racing game period. Go to 2:20 on the video, that Pagani sound at exactly 2:24, unbeatable.

So much doom and gloom for the Wii U is depressing, I love this system. If 3rd party support is gone, I hope indie and kickstarter projects find a home on the Wii U to compliment the 1st party games.

BTW e-shop is on maintenance, any updates?

After registering the system, I think you should get a NintendoLand survey like a week later where you get coins for answering.

Interesting that Disney Infinity has a Miiverse Community open already, and the game releases in August. There's even an Announcement Community where they have a youtube video. Great way to build hype and keep people informed.

Launch seems to be more or less a month away...is this the earliest a Publisher is allowed to open a Community perhaps?

I think so, the earliest other games had communities was maybe 2-ish weeks before.

That is weird. Is there a demo or something out?

But do you think the WiiU version will be a lot worst than this?

No, not a 'lot'. Perhaps less geometry and less stable framerate. Textures might be similar in quality. I really don't know. The devs have said they're going to make sure the Wii U version isn't crap. We could end up with another Most Wanted situation where the Wii U version is clearly the best console version from a technical and visual point of view.

I don't believe so.

Just bought my first Wii U game in Assassin's Creed 3 ($15) even though I don't have the console yet. Is it worth it on this console?

Yes, it is a decent port. And you can move all the HUD from the screen to the gamepad or you can play just on the gamepad. It is nicely done (once you pass half of the game in tutorials :D).

This. It is so easy to just pick the GamePad up and start playing... :)

You better get that game, sir! In Platinum we trust.

Alright, I'll keep it then. Hopefully I'll get the Wii U in August.

I also saw Your Shape: Fitness Evolved 2013 for $15.

As an owner its technically very good. In fact I only had two glitches (the game on all platforms was noted to be very buggy). The problem is the main narrative and the missions are just bad. Side stuff can be really fun if your into collectathlons.

Runs great on the WIi U. No issues. The only problem will be the online population which quickly became non-existence. It was the easiest to find a match on Christmas day but after that I was only lucky twice to find matches. Though I think it could be also that the matching was broken as I heard complaints about the matching system in the other versions as well. All of the DLC has been released for it too.

I think Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games looks very impressive, but it hardly got any coverage at E3 at all. If they can get this thing running at a solid 60 it will be one of my most wanted games.

Warner Bros. Announces The LEGO Movie Videogame For Wii U And 3DS
http://www.nintendolife.com/news/20...es_the_lego_movie_videogame_for_wii_u_and_3ds

arner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and TT Games have revealed The LEGO Movie Videogame, a brand new title set to launch on the Wii U and 3DS in 2014 alongside the release of the upcoming film, The LEGO Movie.

You take control of the game's protagonist, Emmet, who is a less than average, normal guy going about his every day business before he is mistakenly identified as the most extraordinary person - in his case, LEGO figure - and the ultimate key to saving the world. Join Emmet on his quest to stop all evil and bring back harmony to the land.

Tom Stone, Managing Director at TT Games Publishing said:

We’re thrilled to be able to give kids the joy of reliving Emmet’s adventures in becoming virtual Master Builders with The LEGO® Movie Videogame. Players will be taking on the ultimate mission to save the LEGO world and use their virtual building prowess to build unimaginable sets and creations.

Over ninety characters that feature in the movie will be included in the game, along with fifteen levels. A specific release date wasn't mentioned, but more information will follow closer to the game's launch.

I want to buy a second WiiU ( I'm about to adjust my attic to play my consoles and my kids don't want me to take the WiiU upstairs ). Will I be able to sign in with my new WiiU with my excisting account so that I will be able to play the games that I've bought before ( just like PS3 and 360 )?

No. My biggest problem with the console (I own and love it, though).

Nope, and here is the biggest problem with the Nintendo acocunt system still.
