Alternatively, there really was a licensing problem with the game and they are taking the extra 2 dollars to cover it (and then some).

Fair enough, some pre-release hype can't hurt, but all that stuff is going to happen anyways. I don't think Nintendo cares if they get the sale today or two days from now.

It's a good traditional JRPG with a more modern setting and humor with a huge niche following that will try and convince you it's the best game ever (or at least second compared to Mother 3)
If you really like JRPGs, it's worth a buy... but if most Jrpgs aren't your cup of tea, you can skip it without too much real guilt.

Would have been nice if we had a nice OT for the game, especially for this game that many lost hope would ever get a VC release, the game and the community deserve it.
Let's not be ridiculous. It's Nintendo that acts like every SNES game is worth the exact same price: $8. Now with Earthbound they probably figured that fans asking for the game would make it easy to sneak in a little "fuck you -tax". Judging from this thread they made the right choice.

It's one of the better (but by far not the best) SNES RPGs. If you aren't sure if you want to drop 10 dollars on it, I recommend searching the internet. Chances are you can be playing it within 7 minutes, and then if you find you like the game, you can spend 10 dollars to play it on a Wii U.

Yeah, it's pretty bad that the ONLY release on the console is a VC game... It's literally an Earthbound box.
Wasn't even FF-specific, really. Squenix charged $10 for nearly all of their games, as did Konami for SotN and MGS1.
