The main hero Jaeger receives the deluxe 18" treatment including enhanced sculptural details, attachable chain-sword weapon, and lights on the chest and head.

Stands an impressive 18" tall with articulated neck, shoulders, elbows, hips, and knees. Gipsy is very poseable and includes intricate paint detail to replicate all the battle damage and wear and tear seen on screen.

The over 8" long chain-sword weapon attaches at the forearms and can be wielded on the right or left side.

This is the must have collector's figure from Pacific Rim!

Watched the movie 3x now.

The latest seeing it on 3D and Dolby Atmos cinema.
The sound effects and music is amazing. You could hear the snowflakes falling on people's heads!

Loving it more the more I watch.
Plenty of colors in the whole movie, awesome action. Seeing those neon lights in HK is just pleasant to the eyes.

Cheesy lines are cheesy, but still 1000x better than Transformers script. Especially those 2 little potty mouth robots.

Just got home after seeing the movie, it was really amazing!

Spectacular fight scenes, good enough and simple story so no one can say they are not understanding what's going on, the characters are not the best part but they work within the movie's story, the two scientists made me laugh a couple of times.

Just two things I didn't like too much:
-The rivalry between Raleigh and Hansen's son felt somewhat forced.
-Crimson Typhoon and Cherno Alpha were destroyed in a matter of minutes, well at least Cherno Alpha lasted a little more but I would have liked to see more of them.

Saw it yesterday. I cant describe it how awesome it was. Im gonna buy the 3D Bluray when it comes out to watch it over and over and over again.

I hope Del Toro doesnt make a Sequel right away. Instead he should try to make At the Mountains of Madness again. I mean he could even put At the Mountains of Madness as a prequel to Pacific Rim 2 with Cthulhu.

Saw it yesterday. Abso-fuckin-lutely loved it. I was (pleasantly) surprised at how family friendly this movie was. It kind of reminded me of the original Star Wars in that regard. I hope we'll see a sequel and more original ideas from del Toro.

Yourself. And then ask god for a sequel in the afterlife

There's no chance we get a pacific rim 2

Lone Ranger and PacRim were the best films of the summer and they flopped

Didn't "flop", didn't do gangbusters the first weekend in the US that is all, read up on recent articles. On par with recent successes like WWZ internationally, and will almost certainly make its money back at some point in BR/DVD sales. If Legendary wants to build on the franchise further there is a decent chance for a sequel.

This might be the most visually pleasing movie I ever saw in theatres. Loved the art design, the sets and colors. Beautifully shot as well. I have to say the climax was a bit underwhelming but I can't wait to see it again. Definitely a day one bluray purchase.

trying to get my hands in one of the IMAX posters. Sadly they arent available here but some people seem to be selling them for a couple bucks

I just saw this movie yesterday. Fucking amazing, I'm tempted to go watch it again in IMAX, I enjoyed it that much.

This is a definite purchase for me on bluray. Brilliant movie, very enjoyable, really hope there will be a sequel. Miles better than anything in the same league like Transformers.

My girlfriend and I were discussing that too, Pacific Rim was one of the more kid friendly blockbuster high-action movies we've seen in a long time that was this good. I mean not much bad language, no sex scenes or suggestive stuff, no gratuitous bloody violence. PR had enough light hearted moments to balance the seriousness of their situation, it never seemed "too" serious or depressing.

The movie just hits it right with all cylinders running to make a very entertaining, fun, heroic, heart pounding, yet friendly film. It's really one of the more well crafted movies I've seen in quite some time.

Saw this last night. So, so good. Definitely reminded me of the first time I saw Jurassic Park at the theatre as a child. Hope there's an extended cut in the works, because my only criticism is that I wanted more of everything.

This was mind-blowing on IMAX. Aside from a few IMAX documentaries, I've now seen two movies in which the 3D felt completely justified and worthwhile: The Hobbit and Pacific Rim. Avatar's tech may have been great, but I felt it added nothing to the film. I only wish Pacific Rim had been shot at 48fps.

am i the only person who wasnt blown away by this

ill go watch again cause, my bad, i took my tired girlfriend... ill go with the boys next time

also i didnt know it was going to be cheesy as all fuck... living in australia made me cringe at the accents, they were terrible although enjoying some of the side characters being australian.... scientist side plot was boring, although pearlman getting screen time is always good

action was fun... i guess i expected something more serious and that ruined the first viewing... japanese honour cliche ruined good fight in the air

Yep, I'm obsessed.
Seeing it tomorrow night for the 4th time with a bunch of friends.
Seeing it on Saturday night at IMAX 3D.
Seeing it on Sunday with another mate.

O_o

My max is watching SNATCH 3 times in the opening week of its launch in theatres. Can I match that for Pacific Rim? Trying too!

Yeah, stop taking it seriously and just enjoy robots punching monsters.

Anyone know i Del Toro is looking to make a sequel?
Please say yes

Also
Gypsy Danger was basically a Mark V after the upgrades right? Dem swords..

For me I just felt like it got way too slow in the middle, they probably could have chopped 20-30 minutes out there. I am all for a movie having some actual dialogue/drama in the middle of all of the action, but I at least want that content to be good. My wife pretty much had the same feelings on it. So much potential there, but I think it missed the mark in a few places.

Got to be honest, I quite enjoyed PR, but I think the 3D actually hurt the experience for me.

Not that the 3d effect is bad, its actually very good ("bad" 3D was the hideous Viewmaster 3d in the Wolverine trailer that prededed it), but my problem was all the particle fx and assorted dimensional distractions that suffocate all the big action set-pieces.

This layering of it makes sense to add realism to the CG, but I felt that combined with the slight darkening effect of the Real3D process, having this constant semi-opaque barrier between me and the action really hurt my sense of immersion. I found myself tracking the smoke/dust/sparks/debris/bubbles more than the monsters and mecha rumbling in the background.

Yeah I really can't stomach Transformers at all, but something about Pacific Rim made it very palatable for me.

Because the movie feels honest. Every frame is a love letter, everything on screen is so painstakingly detailed, all the dumb PacRim & genre specific jargon is delivered with such straightforward earnestness, it has a ton of energy, it isn't poking fun at itself because it's nerdy, it isn't overtly trying to be hip and cool, etc. It's a movie that buys into itself without question, and has no regard for people that don't. Pacific Rim knows what it wants to be, and executes that 100% without an obnoxious elbow nudging air to it.

Yeah, stop taking it seriously and just enjoy robots punching monsters.
That's the problem though, it's all robots punching monsters, from a fairly tight angle, and usually while standing in the middle of the ocean. I was hoping for a bit more variety to the combat scenarios.

That's the craziest thing I have ever heard today..

but it would be insanely fun to see yes!

I wouldn't really call Gipsy+ a Mk V since even with the upgrades, it still isn't as maneuverable as Striker Eureka, which is the only Mk V in existence. Kinda like throwing a Corvette engine in a 280Z. It's much more powerful, but it's still not going to beat it out right due to the existing chassis.

Talking with the girlfriend after the movie about how they could spin prequels or sequels from Pacific Rim got me to thinking that really they could go into another direction altogether - World War III with Mechs.

With the technology out there, some countries being weaker then others due to the attacks over the years and cost of funding Jaeger production, it could lead to the opportunity of Jaegers VS Jaegers. *Obviously I have my silly WH40K hat on and envisioning Titans and Imperial forces going at it against each other would be very explosive indeed*.

What this is really getting at is that a human issue causes Jaeger production to sky rocket and you can end the movie with another rift coming about and the world again collectively coming together against the threat but at least this time you have war born Jaegers, lots of them, ready to stand against.

PACIFIC RIM brings forth the usage of a
coastal wall
to stop the unstoppable Kaijus, which can be compared to the asinine policies that are created by the countries of the world today. This is not a far leap to have greedy, opportunistic countries use the Jaeger program for world domination or power after such events. Humanity is flawed.

My poor heart is struggling for hope for more Jaegers in the future. I desire a second movie, even if it all is just lame fan fiction in my head. My happy place. Boobs.

I dunno, I felt like the action scenes varied enough. It's not really ALL robots punching monsters. :P

I like that idea. And just as humanity's on the brink from its devastating jaeger war, the kaiju reemerge from the ocean depths.

If this ends up being the story for PR2, NeoGAF deserves a credit. :)

If PR2 does become reality, all fans that supported it deserve all the praise :) here here!

I'm going to watch it for the third time on Saturday, so I deserve 3 times as much praise :P

I don't think a sequel is going to happen, but I'm just so fucking glad this movie did

Just amazing, what a brilliant and fun movie. The fights were truly breathtaking. A real work of love and devotion to the subject.

Could have done without the Charlie Day/Dude from Torchwood/Hellboy shenanigans though, they really felt like lost scenes from a Transformers movie.

Actually the only thing I really hated about this was the Australian accents - they were fucking terrible.

Took me ages to realize the young Aussie was Stacey's crazy brother from Eastenders. Such a crazy ensemble cast.

Perfectly said. You can absolutely feel the love that was put into this film while watching it. It's honest with itself and its audience, and that's always a good feeling to have with a movie.

Are there any cool non-marketing wallpapers yet?

Do a Google Image search for the resolution of your computer, I see a lot of official ones in there, with others that appear to be more fan made as well.

You're right. Instead incorrectly getting mad at the movie's plot, maybe I should have payed attention. Furthermore, I now realize I went into the movie wanting to hate it because I knew it wouldn't fit my 1, very focused idea of what a mech movie should be. I should judge it on it's own merits. I now realize that I can't over analyze (often times incorrectly) every little element of the movie to justify my ignorant opinion of it. I feel a little stupid for thinking that if I went against the norm, it would somehow make me feel like I was above the general mass audience that enjoyed this film.

Wow. I feel great. I think I will go watch Man of Steel now.

I envisioned a similar scenario, but with a badass scientist saying "fuck Jaegers", finding a way to open another breach, and selling brainwashed Kaiju to the highest bidder - rogue nations, terror cells, etc. Only Jaegers can stop them, for greater justice!
