Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | July 2013 | Slow Month, Fast Games

I haven't got it yet, been too absorbed in EDF. Sucks to hear about the DLC being weaksauce though. I'm a long way from getting pro scores on the later courses, or even the last set of DLC courses, so I sure have my work cut out for me.

well i'm a little frustrated bc i just bought the DLC bundle yesterday - and then it appears 2 courses & 2 characters went free the same day.

i wouldn't mind giving extra cash to a dev who continually supports the product - like the hsg team - but they also released a bunch of seemingly "pay to win" style DLC which i hate. lots of level 4&5 equipment that cost 0.50/1.00 to nickle and dime fans. pretty shitty.

Wow, I had no idea these even existed. All of a sudden the huge drives I see online make more sense.

Are there any decent guides to Soul Sacrifice out there?
Nah. You don't really need one either, now that offerings rewards are listed in the quest selection menu (though you can still use The Sorcerer's Minion). The only thing the game doesn't show you is monster weaknesses (some of the lore pages hint at them). Luckily, there's a Gamefaqs thread for that.

Enemy weakpoints are shown through Mind's Eye (D-Pad down). Use whatever offerings you like best and kill some archfiends.

Took a few screens of this week's Soul Sacrifice update. The new Fellow Sorcerer quest (which goes from 7-9 stars in difficulty) line includes the new Luna Wastes stage. It's a nice looking area. The spinning orbs in the middle of the stage activate a pulling field every once in awhile that lasts a good 30 seconds.

Friendly AOE spells now appear on screen, which is incredibly handy. My SO is full Divine so that's a huge boon.

An unmentioned change - they fixed the rating system for North American versions. Divine rank is gone, Legendary is now the top rank and they added Third-Rate. I think it's now in line with every other version, and matches the trophy requirements.

wow - is that Soul Sac?! that new content looks way more vibrant than the demo levels. as much as i enjoyed the demo i steered away from the game... might have to pick this up when it hits 20$. so many worthwhile, long-lasting vita games!

Sounds like I need to get back into Soul Sacrifice!

I don't really know why I put it down, I guess it's because there's always a new Vita game to play for me. I think it was Moto GP13 and Hotline Miami that stole my attention.

I just wish I hadn't waited as long as I did to jump on the EDF bus.

Heh, I felt exactly the same when I bought it. Great game.

This. This is the exact reason I can't focus on beating the games or even committing to buying half the games i want... Honestly I don't know what to do with Dragons Crown, Killzone, and Tearaway all coming out so close together... I WANT to day one all of them, but I just know it's bad news to buy 3 big games so close together - atleast personally

Wow, Persona 4 downloaded really fast. I'm really looking forward to playing it again. The last time I played, I was like 40 hours into the PS2 version but I forget a lot of it by now.

Huge problem for me. Ended up with so many half completed games. I am slowly trying to go back to games I never completed.... well I was but I just got Soul Sacrifice so that will now absorb me when im on Vita.

Latency issues, no.
But if the routing isn't configured correctly, connection issues could still exist. :)

As for Sly 4, I pity anyone who has to deal with a couple of the areas where it slows down without being able to cloud save to PS3 and play with a somewhat stable framerate. Game is 85% awesome on Vita... those couple of sections really tarnish it though. I don't know how I would have finished it if I didn't have the PS3 version to switch to.
Ah I see. I'm not too knowledgeable on this stuff, so I figured if your speed was high enough that would resolve connection issues.

I actually played the whole game on Vita, but yeah, those few sections have horrible slowdown. It's such a shame seeing as how the rest the game runs alright.
Stealth Inc is up on the UK store :-) 187mb and remember to get the free dlc
I'll be sure to pick it up!

Edit: Neat, Total Recoil's up on the Aussie store now.
Can't wait to play it!

yeah i'm not a fan

So, uh, I have this friend. We'll call him JokySteve. Well, JokySteve really enjoys Everybody's Golf but he's not terribly good at it. I think he has 2, maybe 3 crowns and he hasn't even finished the gold tier. I laugh at him with my manly golf skills, obviously.

I feel for JokySteve though. Are there any clubs / balls that my friend could buy that are ridiculously overpowered / accurate? Y'know, just to make those last few rounds a bit easier for myself friend.

I have a friend that would really benefit with this info too!

Tell your friend practice practice practice.
This game gets REALLY addicting when the practicing starts paying off, cause it pays in spades

There is no OP clubs/Balls. You need to tailor your clubs to your playstyle/toon.
Not hitting far enough? big air.
Cant hit the impact? Beginner clubs.
Not landing where you wanna? Pin Hole clubs

The biggest tip I can give is use the circle triangle strength adjustors whenever possible....that always seems to help me the most.
when you goto hit the ball circle will take a little off the power and triangle will give a bit more....useful for when you miss the power you want.

wtf they added p2w clubs? I haven't played in awhile but thats fucked up

are the level 4/5 clubs/balls not OP? that's good news then

good tip with the triangle/circle shots.

it will be released in... july? Next week i guess.

I'm usually a sucker for anything PixelJunk but I passed on this for PS3 and I'll likely pass on Vita. I'm just not into tower defense genre.

Dave, I have a friend that was really good at hot shots out of bounds and he said it's all about timing and the classic swing meter. He likes to use pin hole clubs. He hasn't had the chance to play the vita version. I feel bad for him.

Screen taken by my PS Vita... This afternoon for my impressions on the preview code =)

How are graphics like these possible :S

Eatchildren was saying it looks even better in motion than in screenshots (generally, I'm assuming).

Cannot wait, hope the framedips were minor. I can put up with them in CoD (not the random autoaim through walls when no one is there and the crashes and the sudden moving of my crosshair. Still fun but can't wait to upgrade :)

Stealth inc looks really great but a little pricier than I had hoped.

Cheers chap. I know I'd improve with more practice, and I've definitely started using triangle, circle and the 'spin' feature a lot more than I used to, but I'm still pretty shit. I don't really want to plow hours into the game because I've got a ton of other stuff I want to play. I guess I could just whip it off the MC for now, and come back to it during a drought.

I'm all about the classic swing meter too. It's mostly my putting that's absolutely dire, especially on the later courses. I guess I just need to try harder!

I want the game, and Double Eleven is great, but I just can't do it at $14.99. They really need to start rethinking their pricing decisions. Limbo is the same price. These are old games. They should not be the same price they were when they launched 3-5 years ago. Actually, I think PJM might even be more than it launched on PS3.

its really just about playing the game a lot. that way you'll get better at knowing how much power/angle to compensate due to wind speeds, angle of ball lie, or how much the hole is above/below you.

personally I prefer straight hitters, such as the asian girl or pandora in the expert character group...and i typically equip them with a grass club which will boost control, and a big air ball. i have good and bad days with impact, sometimes i can hits in 40s sometimes ill be hitting 30s. only once have i hit 50% and it wasnt on the crown course :(

another tip ( if you're not above it) is to use easy mode... it allows you to focus and get better without the stress of competition from cheating ai. I got almost all of the stars without easy mode, and then halfway through going for crowns i threw on easy mode, and it really makes it a world of difference and more enjoyable in my eyes. now whether i need easy mode or not ive kept it on.

theres GREAT page someone once posted in an old thread explaining the game in depth, but i failed to book mark it. I just know the website has a black background and lots of example images and math. maybe someone here has it still. might be lingering in the HSG OT.

if you are going for crowns. just take it one at a time. pick out what you think is doable and focus on that one till you beat it, then move on. and if you end up having issues with a hole, practice that hole with different wind/speed till you can birdie almost every time.

edit: also, classic swing meter ftw!

the Soul Sacrifice update looks amazing, guess it's time for me to play it again :D

EDF :/ bummer it went back with no warning but guess I successfully resisted it this time

this probably not the exact page but probably right forum...this page gives great breakdown

and yeah, classic meter or gtfo

@Dave this why I bought retail HSG, just like VTennis....it's one of them games I know I won't sit down and play for hours after the 100% completion, but will always go back to...constantly. Been like that since psp version

I need to stop loafing around with this PSP shit and start completing these damn Vita games. Soul Sacrifice looks even better than before. And I've been neglecting it... Its time to get back in...

Not gonna lie though, Persona has finally clicked with me. Pretty damn awesome game for real. If P3P bears any resemblence to P4G, I think Im going to lose alot of time out of my life....

And the game is on-sale now..... hmmmmmm

Do I take the lower price and trade data space.... Or do I pay 10 bucks more and keep my card free?........

Choices....

Same I really love SS but I stopped playing it. Too many damn games.

P4's music is so damn catchy btw.

Like many others stated, practice is the best answer. I personally prefer straight shooters, whoever they are. I go for a turbo spin club and pinhole ball, that seems to work well for me. And yes, I am a member o the classic meter club, but I like the one that arcs upward. Updated classic.

On a side note, I'd love to get some a synchronous or online matches with you other holders sometime...

P4's music is so damn catchy btw.

You're right, but it didn't catch on till about 80 hours in for me. Until that point, I was still humming P3's almost the entire time :D

You mean for PS+? You have to go into Content Manager and check the automatic upload box for every game you want in the cloud.

Ah thanks - yeah I want to move every save from this card to the cloud and maybe have my 4gb card for PSM and then the 8 for native Vita stuff

It will be about $11.99 for two weeks if you're a PS+ member.

Just bought Persona 4 Golden due to the hype in this thread.

No idea when I'm going to get around to playing it, as my backlog is insane - don't have a great deal of time for gaming at the moment.

30 hours into Xenoblade Chronicles is as far as I've ever got into an RPG, but really enjoying it.

I wish, when you start up a game for the first time, it would ask you if you want to automatically back up your saves via the cloud, like on PS3. Sometimes I forget whether I went into Content Manager and set them to automatically update, or whether the save is in the cloud if I need to delete something, etc. I don't know why they don't do that, honestly.

Isn't it the ps3 game and the psp game in one??

If it has a ps+ discount I'll buy it, the only thing that really irks me is that there is no plat!!!
