Tom Brady's cool in my book
So, you're saying there's a chance?Except Capcom never asked for feedback on UMvC3. Read again what Ono had said:
"In terms of content, we don't really have any ideas about how to make the game better" more or less means "game is ass, we don't know how to make it less ass so stop asking us to patch it". "Maybe we can make something happen" needs to be followed up by "but we probably won't". There's only one thing that can give us a chance for a UMvC3 patch and that's if Ono gets kicked out of Capcom and someone who knows what he is doing takes over. So instead of giving this clown the attention he doesn't deserve we should ignore him and make him realize how far he has driven Capcom fighting games to their death by his refusal to make a SF5.

Man fuck score attack in P4A. Only time I've ever been perfected by the CPU.

A bunch of people holding up "when's marvel" signs at unrelated events and less stream viewers than random LoL players aren't going to sway a company as big as Marvel.
They'll either forget about fighting games because they're dead in the mainstream, or make an attempt to get a better selling game made by looking for Marvel only, accessible to casuals arena fighter/smashtype games with story modes, made by whatever companies with no fighting game experience.
I for one am looking forward to X-Men Mutant Academy 3
He actually brought and put on his snorkel? lmao
Marvel's not actually a big company, and unfortunately for the comic industry, the average mainstream comic's sales are equivalent to the numbers a major tournament gets.
The rest is on point. Marvel reps don't care if they have a fighting game, mmo, rpg, etc. They're going to sell the license to the highest bidder regardless.
Personally I've been waiting for a sequel to MSH for almost 20 years
I disagree. Realistically, the MvC brand holds much more value than them putting out a Marvel-only fighter and building a new fighting game IP, no matter how casually friendly it is. And even if they do, it will always be in the shadow of MvC and compared to MvC, despite MvC not being a Marvel-only thing. I don't think it'd break a milli in the current fighting game market.A bunch of people holding up "when's marvel" signs at unrelated events and less stream viewers than random LoL players aren't going to sway a company as big as Marvel.

Art blowing up Offcast and Chris Ceglia.
For being in tears (of joy) when seeing Justin's performance at EVO.

It's just not worth it, and I think they realize it. Building the new IP is a huge risk and unless it's balls to the wall revolutionary in the genre, I don't see it happening. That's why they've stuck with MvC3 this gen and allowed such a thing to have a long development cycle too, and in result they got the 3rd most successful fighting game franchise this gen, only after MK and SF, which are the juggernauts. I don't think they serve anything to gain from detatching themselves from this established, legacy IP in a genre that will guarantee sales and then some when it comes out. Really, what would they gain from this instead of doing the same to improve MvC and also reap the rewards of a second monster IP to drive sales and still get their cut? Nothing.
Moving forward, I don't think Chris Baker is sitting there right now like "man we need to be making moves with fighting games right now! We cannot sit silent!" because realistically they're dealing with properties across multiple genres, and it's not like they're unaware of saturation in the market currently. You can't spit out fighters like movie tie-in titles, and they know the RoI isn't the same for something that they can't throw to a small studio to get done cheaply or in a small timeframe. And again, it's the end of the gen ATM, and looking at Injustice posting numbers in the worst sales months in a decade probably doesn't inspire confidence either.
Capcom can't or won't bankroll DSIV or SFV right now, so there's no way in hell they're even in preproduction for MvC4, or will they even touch MvC3. When Capcom is ready, they will approach Marvel. I don't think Marvel is actively courting devs to do so. And I don't think Marvel is about to break the great working and business relationship that resulted in what is one of the best selling Marvel licensed games of all time, from the looks of their Wikipedia probably only second to the PS2/GC/Xbox Spiderman game.

Sales numbers for comics are not that bad, your typical majors have a hard time exceeding 40K in stream numbers.
Google MvC3 shipped. 2 milli of that game shipped alone and banked at Capcom. Wiki for Spider-Man game says 2 milli on PS2 version alone, and that's most certainly one of the biggest Marvel-licensed games ever. Can I get a link to those sale figures? I tried googling and looking on Wikipedia and couldn't find no list.
Why would they do a large exclusivity deal with a single publisher? Makes little sense considering all the genres they're dipped in and different publishers they have worked successfully with and continue to work successfully with in different markets. It's not like there's a LucasArts for Marvel ATM and there is the entirety of the licensing is up for grabs because of a collapse, and I'm pretty sure they're not ready to sell their souls even if a ridiculous deal did pop up considering what the company has gone through. Case by case basis seems advantageous and scalable, and what also allows them to do smaller budget tie-in games too.Except this is under Disney's control now, much like Star Wars, and it would not surprise me to see (when all the individual rights revert to Marvel), an larger exclusivity deal brokered with one of the major publishers. That's unlikely to be Capcom.
Which is weird, because their character representations are largely shit outside of MvC3.Marvel has to put in a ton of effort to make sure their characters and brand are properly represented, it seems, so it's understandable that they don't want to spend a ton of hours consulting and approving stuff across a ton of different franchises for a game that's going to sell under 2 million copies. It doesn't seem like a profitable enough prospect for them to go through all that trouble, especially when their movies are raking in the billions.
The EA exclusivity deal for Star Wars is pretty dumb, though, but we don't know how much EA paid for it, do we?
Great news if you signed up for my BlazBlue Continuum Shift Extend tournament!
