Wait, are we being sarcastic about it being a joke? I hope so.

I definitely thought it was a joke until their last tweet. This was the team that hid a QR code in their game and when you scanned it, it said "Congratulations, you found a QR code." I just figured they knew how social media/Internet works.

I hadn't picked this up yet. Will buy on Steam now. Sweet.

Ah, so you can buy voucher/redeem cards for Steam for specific games?

Not sure if serious......?!

No, Steam drops random collectible cards as you play games. Like buying a pack of sports or game cards at a sore.

The cards are related to the games you play. You can buy, sell, or collect them. You can build a series then craft badges to show you did so.

This also "levels up" your account. There are even "rare" foil cards.

As much as I want this on Steam, I'll probably just end up getting the PS3 version one of these days just because of Cross Buy. Trying to get a decent Vita collection together before I actually buy a Vita. May still get it on Steam when it eventually goes on sale though.

Do yourselves a favor and buy this. Fantastic game all around. It's a real treat. I might double dip.

This was inevitable since it was playable with 360 controllers at PAX East '12

Here is an explanation for Steam Cards.

Basically they are an item you can collect and show off on your profile, that lets both Valve and Developers further monetize a game.

Its genius from a revenue stream standpoint, allows people who don't care about the system acquire money to spend on Steam, and gives people the ability to show off their favorite games on their Steam profile.
Its really win win.

Trading Cards are dropped from playing eligible games, collect the full set to craft a badge. Games only drop about half of the cards required to complete a badge, you have to trade or purchase the other cards to finish the set.
Crafting a full set of cards nets you 100 XP, emoticons, profile backgrounds, coupons, and a badge for your profile. All Trading Card items are marketable, with the exception of the badge.
To get into the beta, join the Steam Trading Card Group or purchase the Beta from the Steam Market

I only bought the PS3 version because I assumed it wouldn't be on PC. Should have waited!

It's a good time, GAF.

Guacamelee deserves to be played by as many people as possible (and I want them to be able to fund a longer sequel). Buy it PC people!

I have a PS3 but skipped this because fridge space is precious on an 80GB. Not so much on a PC with over 1TB! I'll pick this up on Steam, once I'm done with Dark Souls. Mixing character action, Metroidvania and lucha is appealing to me.

Don't worry about that, PC loves Metroidvania indies. They sell through the roof.

Hell, all indie games sell through the roof on PC.

No, trading cards are used by games to create badges, which levels up your Steam Profile.

Thanks for the info everyone! :)

And i was being serious by the way. The latest PC i built was in 2005 or so, and i still use this PC. I used to play a lot on PC, but during the later years i havnt played much on PC, now i play mostly on consoles and handheld. The last time i used my Steam account was for Counter Strike, many years ago, so i havnt followed much up on Steam other than small tidbits that i read here and there.

Huh, what other games on Vita are like this? Which ones can we expect to see on Steam at some point?

As much as I love Steam (and their awesome prices) this game would have gotten lost in my backlog and forgotten about if I had originally bought it there. Hotline Miami showed me that.

All this goes to show that Steam REALLY needs to make a handheld gaming device...

Can't wait for PC-GAF to enjoy Tree Tops lol

Enjoy DAT Platforming Hell

Wish steam had Platinums, I would double dip for drinkbox

They are trying to transition to linux, which would be a first step towards an ARM based platform.

Thank god! It gives me more and more hope knowing I don't have to resort to lame console play because of XBLA/PSN exclusivity now that so many of the AAA downloadable titles have been getting PC ports.
